Miso soup on point. Customer service on point times two. Sushi very solid. BYOB so mosey on down to the 7 11 down the street, and they have the best wine selection I've seen a 7 11 have. Super easy. Best sushi in Boystown. Haaayyy! read more

The food is the freshest. I always take friends there and they and up going there from that point. Great place to take friends from out of town...especially from NYC. They are used to smaller spaces and swear they don't have sushi like this on the eastcoast. read more

Seems like everyone has already said what needs to be said about this place. Kinda cozy place, probs should get a reservation or plan on waiting a few minutes. The menu seems like it gets updated every so often, and the sushi is awesome. read more

Big selection that doesn't disappoint. I was able to order online without issue. Food was prepared quickly,

Worst customer service when delivering food. Late over 30 mins with no communication and unable to reach the restaurant - phone line either busy or goes to voice mail read more

It amazes me how creative sushi restaurants can be with their food platings, so beautiful and artistic and Rollapalooza is no exception. We were headed out for a little light partying and needed something good to eat before that all started. We peeked in the restaurant and there were two tables open so we were seated right way. The service was quick with an enthusiastic wait staff. I had a wonderful, fresh, Seaweed salad with string cucumbers on the bottom and for a main course we had the Turtle (very creative presentation) and the Godzilla. I wasn't all that hip on the cilantro but the roll was still good. Would consider this restaurant for a return visit. read more

Have been coming here for years. This spot is legit. Sushi is outstanding, even on a Tuesday when you wouldn't expect it to be. The fact that it's byob makes it a great place to bring your favorite beverage while you enjoy an outstanding meal. Definitely check this place out. You will not regret it. read more

This might be my favorite sushi in Chicago. Fresh, delicious, not too expensive. We enjoyed the spicy tataki, red dragon and tropical roll. Every time a roll came out I would ask our server what it was because it looked so good. Can't wait to go back. read more

High quality and tasty! We got the chef's choice sashimi appetizer, house salad, rainbow roll, and Meguan roll. Sashimi appetizer was great and tasted very fresh. I'd put the ginger dressing from the house salad on anything. My boyfriend gets a rainbow roll wherever we go and he said this was his new favorite. And I loved the mango in the Meguan roll was perfect with the tuna, avocado, and chile paste. Our food was ready early and the pick up process was safe and easy. I can't wait to order from here again! read more

I was craving sushi tonight and recently moved to a newish neighborhood to me, so headed to yelp to find the best place to order from. Rollapalooza has great reviews from a lot of people so decided to give it a try! It was good, but not my favorite. I got the Rollapalooza roll which was not what I was expecting -- the meat mix is healed on top of the roll as opposed to all being inside it and that was a bit much for me! The spicy tuna and shrimp tempura rolls were fine. The spicy mayo here is super spicy so be aware of that. Glad I tried it and looking forward to trying other sushi places in the area as well. read more

Alas, it's true Rollapalooza is under different management yet again! I was awaiting my sushi lunch until the late hour of 4:30 when I discovered this...turns out they're open at 2 now (yet another change in operation hours, but this for the better). They do lunch service on weekends and weekdays which is a plus. (Closed Tuesdays). Decor has been changed slightly inside. A little more going on. The menu change is definitely significant. A lot of my favorite rolls are gone. Some specialty appetizers, but dine-in for those only. Would be curious to try. As for the basic maki, it's well, now more average; both in flavor and in price (no longer feel like this is a great deal). They were wonderfully friendly though. Got some free miso soup and a coupon for 20% off my next visit. Will probably go again...and so the semi-abusive relationship continues. read more

5 Stars for the sushi! Came here with 4 friends the other night. We were seated right away. First of all its BYOB so that was clutch, and there's a wine place right across the street in case you forget! Two rolls that stood out to me were the Rollapalooza roll and the Mafia! The Mafia roll was black rice and it was really good! The Rallapalooza is an interesting take on sushi with a bunch of small food piled up on the sushi roll, soo good! Definitely will come back here to try out some other rolls! read more

Great food and bonus points for being BYOB! We got two $15 for three sushi rolls and the lettuce wraps. The lettuce wraps were a delightful surprise with lots of salmon and tuna! They definitely did not skimp on the fish even though it was a lettuce wrap and not sushi. The service was great and it was a wonderful experience. Definitely coming back and trying more of their rolls! They actually light one of their plates on fire. Definitely a gem in Boystown. read more

I love this sushi place. Probably the best sushi I've had in the city. I first went here on a bachelorette party. You walk in and are like, "not the best for a bachelorette party." it's not super fancy, pretty low key. Also, pretty bright. Not really dim like a lot of other sushi places, all done in wood. However, the sushi is great, and so is everything else we've had. I love the cucumber salad. It's cut into "noodles" instead of just slices. I actually went and bought a spiral slicer just so I could attempt to recreate the salad. Still working on the dressing, which is just delicious simplicity. The shumai are great, and have lots of shrimp in them. It seems like a small portion, but since you're going to order a billion rolls, you need to save room. Also, you seriously have to check out the white tuna mango tartar. I'll upload a pic so you know what it looks like. It is sooooo good. I could eat it by the bowlful. Tuna, mango, avocado and I think cucumber are layered, topped with a delicious tangy dressing and garnished with roe. Mmmmmm. The signature rolls are really good. We've been a few time and have by now had probably almost every one. We've been pretty happy with them. When we went last night, we ordered the white castle, the spicy tataki, and the Godzilla. All three were so good, I couldn't pick a favorite. However, the tataki comes out on a burning plate, so points for style! The turtle is also really good, and is shaped like a, you guessed it, turtle. It's head is -made out of wasabi with little octopus suckers as eyes. Cute. Service is always solid, too, and we've only had to wait once to get a table. One time, we brought a friend from out of town here. I had a bit of a cough. The sushi chef heard me coughing and had the server bring me a cup of hot water to soothe my throat. So nice! read more

I came with a friend who ordered 2 different rolls (one of them was dragon). I ordered the tequila roll which was $15. We shared, and his rolls were better. The tequila roll didn't really have a special flavor to it that I was expecting as it was one of the most expensive ones. read more

Amazing sushi spot in Boystown. The selection here is outstanding. They have a numerous selection of maki for you to choose from in addition to the standard sashimi, sushi, and classic rolls. The server who took us was very friendly and attentive, and the rolls we ordered were fresh and delicious. A definite try if you are in the area. read more

INCREDIBLE uni nigiri. All the rolls were pretty solid (salmon/avocado, spicy salmon, spicy tuna). A great deal.

I came here after moving some furniture with a bud and we were HUNGRY. The portions are large and the prices are good. I got the Rollapalooza Roll, a plethora of rolls, lettuce greens, sauce, and more sushi slices! My friend got the Philly roll, another winner. If this place offered a weekly special like some other places I know, then I'll definitely be back more often. Max the Sushi chef does a great job. And the place is BYOB. I like. read more

I'm honestly so surprised about how delicious their sushi was, the crab and tuna was extremely fresh! I'm from California and I eat fresh sushi all the time, this put a few sushi restaurants here to shame! I arrived, was promptly seated. They have a BYOB policy, should I have known I would've brought a bottle of Chardonnay. I ordered their crab roll with real crab (imitation isn't the highest form of flattery when it comes to crustaceans.) I then ordered their Alaskan roll with salmon. The sushi was brought to me in less than 5 minutes, even with the entire establishment being packed! The service was fast, they were very friendly. The sushi was fresh, very enjoyable. My only issue was their "spicy sauce" wasn't very spicy and I had to add Sriracha to perfect it. I was satisfied before having a night out on the town, when ever I'm back in Boystown I will be sure to come back! read more

Made a reservation for 9:30 on a Friday night for 8, they were more than accomodating when we called to switch our reservation from the original 4 people. We arrived, and were seated promptly. This place isn't huge but they still were ready for a larger group. As with many Chicago restaurants, they allow BYO beverages, so we brought a couple of bottles of wine. There is not an uncorking fee, which is a nice touch! We tried the namesake, Rollapalooza - very good with rolls hidden inside the half circles! We also did the Spicy Tataki - nice showmanship with them lighting it on fire and not crazy spicy, so I really enjoyed that! We also did the Black Monster roll, thought the black rice was delicious! Between 3 of us, we split 4 specialty rolls and it was enough food for everyone. The service was friendly and she made her way around our table well. They didn't kick us out even when it was past closing time, probably because they knew we were trying to finish our wine. I think this place is worth the hype, and I think the prices are pretty standard wherever you go for specialty rolls. read more

A nice spot to get sushi after a Cubs game! I stopped by with coworkers after they beat the Phillies. Great vibes and sound! The sushi is fresh, only reason I didn't give them a 5 is because it's BYOB. I was hoping to enjoy with a warm sake! read more

I have ordered sushi from here so many times and I cannot get enough. It's so high quality, fresh and delicious. The black monster, ocean vinaigrette, and garlic salmon are probably my favorites but I've also had the Megan, cloud 9, rollapalooza, and rainbow which were all amazing. Once they're open for indoor dining again I'd love to go in and experience that but for now I'm more than happy ordering delivery. read more

I went to Rollapalooza for a weekday dinner because a friend had told me that this was her favorite sushi place in town. As a lot of people have mentioned, being BYOB is great (I grabbed something from 7/11 across the street). The service was friendly and the rolls were really yummy and creative! We got the Rollapalooza roll and the Spicy Tataki roll (which was lit on fire while it was served on the plate - so cool!) All in all: Good sushi at a good price with BYOB - this place is great. I took one star off because it smelled really strongly of fish (I know its a sushi place but still it was really really strong to the point of almost being a bit unpleasant) when we walked in. read more

I came here on a Friday night solely because of proximity, but I am so thrilled I stopped in! I was seated quickly and got there just before dinner rush. This place is BYOB but isn't the largest, so make a reservation! I had the spicy tataki roll (on fire, pictured below), the Martini Q and an order of scallop nigiri. This was some of the freshest fish I've ever had! I asked my waitress how often they get their fish shipment, and she said every single morning. That explains it all and I was thoroughly impressed! You know it's good when you don't get a chance to take a picture and can't pick your favorite roll. Went in at prime time on Saturday night with 2 friends and were seated right away. First thing: the menu of rolls is daunting! We ordered 6 rolls total, 3 of which were specialty rolls and 3 classics. They all were so good! Even the straight forward ones were delicious! They have some interesting options including my fav version including a mango tune with some heat that I converted a few friends into liking as well. The price point is fair for this quality of sushi rolls- which is moderately expensive compared to other food options- but sushi is like that everywhere. Highly recommend and I'll definitely be going back! read more

Conveniently located right across the street from Sidetrack. They are BYOB...and we didn't plan ahead so...boo. The staff is nice and attentive. The space is small, but works. It's clean. The prices are not bad. The food: Edamame - good execution, good choice for snacking House Salad - good portion, on the bigger side, delicous Spider Roll - it was actually very good though it didn't have the ends with the legs sticking out. Rolled nice and tight, so it didn't fall apart. Sweet Shrimp nigiri - this was super delicious, tasted fresh. only downside was that it didn't come with the fried heads like other places. little bit sad TLDR: great sushi spot in the neighborhood. Rollapalooza - Smallest sushi I've ever had! - Sushi Bars Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

This is hands down my favorite sushi place in Chicago. It's really small so I'd recommend coming on a weeknight or earlier in the evening on the weekends. The sushi is so affordable but also really fresh and delicious. The service can be a little slow at times but I don't care because the food is so good. They have a roll they light on fire which is awesome and makes for a good Instagram story. You definitely get a great amount of sushi for the amount of money you spend. read more

I finally tried Rollapalooza and I was not disappointed. I did wait an hour but it was Friday night and it was my mistake for not making a reservation on OpenTable. We sat at the bar which was perfect as I got to take in the entire feel of the place and see everything made in front of me. I had a spicy Miso soup that was just that and good! I then had a Calamari salad which was amazing. Being our first time, I asked the server to suggest a couple of items which ended up being a Rollapalooza Roll; I always try to avoid rolls that use cream cheese but it was fairly subtle and still delicious. I don't recall the name of the other roll but the presentation was stunning as it came on a fiery plate! That dish was the star of the night! Very reasonable prices; BYOB; lively place. read more

Couldn't be happier with our neighborhood sushi place. The fish is always really fresh, and even though we tend toward the simpler, more classic dishes, they do tempt us occasionally with really tasty and inventive combinations.
