Mango matcha
Kim R.

I love the matchas here. They are thick, creamy, perfectly balanced, and the flavor options are fun and interesting. I wish there was an option for a bigger size, as i am finished with my drink in under 10 minutes usually. The cafe itself is what brings down the rating for me, because it's not somewhere I want to sit and enjoy my drink. Service is also good.

Everyone always says the best things about Rok, so maybe I came in with my expectations too high. The matcha was a solid matcha, but nothing out of this world. We tried the classic cream top and their special dot cake matcha. I surprisingly liked their dot cake matcha better, the cookie butter added a nice texture, and I enjoyed the spice of the cookie butter paired with the earthy matcha. Definitely indulgent and more of a dessert than a drink.

Super good and solid matcha spot! I'll say that on the day we went, I think they made the purée a little too strong and sweet, so my drink came out overbearingly sweet. But I've had it before and thought the matcha really shone through then, so I'm chalking it up to an off pour rather than a pattern. They have a lot of different options on the menu, but the fruit purée + matcha lattes will always be my favorite here. When they're balanced right, they're so good. Would definitely keep coming back!

Wowza! Stumbled upon this gem while I was on my way walking to another coffee shop then decided to just stop here lol! I was craving coffee but I could not resist and decided to get a matcha. At first I was going to get the Black Sesame but I had to get the matcha since that's what this spot is most known for and wow! Honestly, best matcha I've had! I'm not a big matcha person but lately I've been having them like nonstop and still didn't see the hype but after trying the matcha here, yup! If matcha tasted like this all the time I'd be a matcha lover for sure. I'll def be drinking more and found the spot to go to! The matcha duo was creamy but not too sweet and had taste all the way until the end. And the presentation of the matcha was so clean. Ambiance was clean too with this minimalist vibe yet plenty of seating to do work and not that crowded or loud. It also seems like they have a great selection of pastries so will be trying one of those soon! I do want to try their coffee though so next time I might get the black sesame. Seems like there's only street parking on Ventura and the residential area unless there's some garage parking that's part of the building. Never heard of this spot so I'm so happy I found my go-to matcha spot!

Lotus Einspanner

Came back to Rok and this time tried the Lotus Einspanner with oat milk! I already covered the matcha last visit so I'll focus on the coffee this time. Honestly, it was so good. Not overly sweet at all, and the biscoff crumbs on top were such a nice touch. I'm also a huge fan of their cream top, it's just done really well. My only complaint carries over from last time though: oat milk still makes the consistency too thick, same issue I had with the matcha duo. If they can find an oat milk that doesn't do that, these drinks are an easy 5/5. For now, a solid 4/5 on the coffee. Love the vibe here and will keep coming back! If this review helped, a thumbs up is always appreciated

Matcha Duo
Deisy R.

I ordered the matcha duo, it was quite delicious. The matcha flavor was strong and the sweet cream really balanced the drink. Service was good as well. The ambiance however was a little off putting, it's difficult to relax and enjoy your drink when every 5 minutes all you hear is "line forms outside, please step outside for the line" and then again "please keep the doors closed"

I stopped by Rok again and it was just as busy as ever, maybe even more so. This time I went with their chestnut latte but I had to get it without the cream top as I'm dairy-free. My bf got the sparkling yuzu matcha. My latte was okay but the chestnut flavor was too subtle. I wonder if the cream top makes the difference. It tasted like any other latte but nothing special, which was a bummer given the high price. My bf loved the sparkling matcha and I tried it and it was actually insanely good. Very bright and refreshing and perfect for summer.

The mango matcha duo is ! The matcha with whole milk is the right kind of creamy and fluid without being too thick. The thick matcha cream on top is thiccc with 3 c's and heavenly! It makes the drink! They even have cute rectangular cubed ice that is unique. Once I stirred up the mango, it added the perfect amount of sweetness and fruitiness to the matcha without overpowering or disappearing into it. I came as soon as they opened at 8am on a Saturday and there was luckily no line. I hung out there for about an hour and still no long line formed. I was happy because I read people would often wait 45 mins in line to order. I got to enjoy my drink without waiting. There is metered parking surrounding the coffee shop. On Ventura Ct off of Laurelgrove Ave and Ventura Blvd, it's 2 hr parking with no meter!

Vanilla dot cake, iced hojicha latte

Cute matcha shop that opened recently in the area! Plenty of seating inside and the place has a good vibe to it. I love the stone seating wrapped around the plant. There's also a cute photo machine by the entrance. Hojicha latte: Was super sweet (sweeter than my dessert!). I had to go home and dilute it with more milk but otherwise flavor was good. 5/10 vanilla dot cake: Yum!!! A good basic dessert made well. I loved the crunch of the dot sprinkles 10/10

Black Sesame Latte
Mary A.

Came around 10AM on a Tuesday and luckily there was no line! I got the Black Sesame Latte ($8). The coffee was pretty good and I liked that it wasn't too sweet, but I wish the black sesame flavor was stronger. I mostly noticed the texture from the sesame bits rather than the flavor itself. The space is open and clean with some seating. Parking can be a little tricky, but I found metered street parking, and there's also a parking garage nearby. Not a bad spot! I'd come back to see if their matcha is just as consistent.

Omg so yum! This is actually one of my top matchas! I had the Mango Matcha Duo drink and it was splendid. The matcha cream too was so creamy and the mango balance was perfect. The care put into this drink was noticed and enjoyed. The facility is also really nice. I went on a Thursday afternoon and there was indoor and outdoor seating available! There's also a ton of options in the menu. There's matcha, espresso, hojicha, and cute desserts. As a self proclaimed matcha connoisseur, I would recommend!

Another new spot to try for the Coffee Queen. Been wanting to check it out...Very trendy - *Make sure to wear your baggy sweat pants and fitted crop top though...it seems to be the fashion here...LOL! This space has been the home a few other businesses but this one seems to be making a splash in Studio City. The line has a steady flow of customers. The menu includes coffee, matcha and teas as well as pastries. The inside is spacious, very clean with plenty of places to sit along with tables outside as well. Once you order your drinks they ask for a name and call you when they are ready. The staff did not impress me...not unfriendly but not warm and welcoming either... One Size Cup DOES NOT FIT ALL- they don't offer larger sizes which is a bummer to this coffee queen. I ordered the "Lotus Einspanner." It was okay. Not as good as RE: Coffee, just sayin...My friend ordered a fruit ice tea which she was not ranting about either...A few sips and we were both done... *Street parking *Paid lot behind the complex for all the businesses here Will I be back you may ask...Not any time soon... ~ and that's all I have to say about that...

Earl grey coffee & matcha duo
Kim K.

We found this cute little coffee shop in Ventura, the place was very clean and the line was long so it's quite a popular spot. I tried the matcha duo which was very rich and creamy, my friend had the Earl Grey cafe duo which was very rich and creamy as well. Had a little hint of salt which made it delicious. I would date both drinks 8/10. We ordered 2 pastries as well, the mushroom was delicious and fresh 9/10 I don't remember the name of the other pastry but it was a little on the sweet side but still delicious 7/10 Overall I would give this place a 7.5/10 must try!

They use Onyx (from what i noticed), and the sound of the milk being steamed sounded silky (-: ! I think saw they used a bottomless portafilter ? Might have mis-seen. But for those unfamiliar, bottomless doesn't divide your shots into two physical shots. so it looks like "one" shot. but it would be 2 shots if it had that attachment. Shots are dialed by weight, so your coffee will be consistent! The layout of the cafe is nice: entry/line formation moves in a counter clockwise motion. Allows customers to enter space and wait in line while leaving space for people to exit/ wait to pick up their drink. First come, first serve for pastries - expect this for freshness purposes. Drink and their components are measured for consistency and quality control. Wait is subjective in relation to volume at the time which you go. Came in at about 1:30 PM on a Sunday (today was 8/16). Curated menu for their specialty drinks that aligns with their identity. Standard menu for espresso based beverages. Great selection for their Single Origin menu. Roasters they use align with those they highlight on their shelves for retail as a multi-roaster cafe. Ordered a Columbia from Hydrangea - enjoyed thoroughly! When it was still quite hot you get the heavy aroma and flavor of the pastry notes in the coffee. Then more tea-like once it cools down more. Coldbrew in the Woodman did not feel like your typical bold-in-flavor base. Which I think works for the inclusions in the beverage. Not your typical/second wave coffee shop. It's cool to see shops want to bridge that gap between fun drinks and specialty coffee! Kudos to Lynx!

Most places don't quite hit that invisible bench mark I've set inside my head. Well, the first sip of my dry (extra foamy) cappuccino from Saint Coffee shop stopped me in my tracks and briefly took me back to Florence. The sip was extra foamy and the cappuccino soft in flavor. I had to go back into the shop and discover who made it. Laney was the barista and let me tell you... Laney makes a wonderful cappuccino!

A friend and I came in at lunchtime intending to order lunch and coffee, but we had to leave without ordering because there was nowhere to sit. About ten of the available tables were each occupied by a single person working on a computer. I understand that cafés can be comfortable places to work, but in such a small space, it would be helpful if Saint placed some limits on laptop use during busy meal hours. Customers coming in to enjoy lunch or coffee together should also have a reasonable chance of finding a table. I truly hope they address this, because I would like to keep supporting this lovely neighborhood café.

Tried out Coffee and Plants this weekend and honestly the vibe here is really cool…read more They actually sell plants in the shop too, and everything drink wise is 100% plant based, which is such a unique concept. The space itself feels really nice, the kind of spot you could bring a book, host a book club, or just settle in to study for a while. The floral wall and overall aesthetic make it feel like a little oasis. As for the drinks, we got the Superglow Latte and a seasonal pumpkin latte with pumpkin cold foam. Unfortunately the coffee itself just wasn't that good, I'd rate it around a 2/5. Honestly comparable to the Capital One Cafe coffee in terms of quality, and I was hoping for more given how much thought clearly went into the space. That said, the barista was really nice and helpful, and the vibe alone makes it worth a visit. I'm giving this a 3/5 overall, mainly for the atmosphere rather than the coffee itself. Walked in today at exactly 2:20pm and there was no one to greet me at the counter/register. Waited for like almost 10 minutes, still no one. I had to ask one of the customers if anyone is working here? She said yes, he is in the back. With that being said, I went to look for that he. Harley still didn't come out for another 5 minutes. When he did, he just stood there with a serious look on his face until I started to ask him a few things about their menu. Everything here is vegan. The bakery section was practically empty, except maybe 5 pastries in it. The shop was very nicely decorated with plants, decor here and there. You can also purchase plants for your house. (indoor plants). It was very cute, moderate size and quaint. I ordered from their Coffee/Latte menu. They also had a separate menu for Matcha drinks. Got myself a Iced Blue Lavender Latte with Oat milk free of charge. ($8.00), it was interestingly tasty and very refreshing. Then I ordered their Breakfast Burrito that came with: sautéed mushrooms, pickled onions, avocado, tater tots, and egg. ($17.00). Total was $54.00, and some change. Since I was very hungry, got myself their Avocado Tartine on a nicely toasted slice of Sourdough that came with: avocado, tomatoes, pickled onions, capers, and a tiny scoop of garlic mayo. The garlic mayo itself is 5 stars. It was that good. Great portions, prices were expensive, the coffee shop itself had a good vibe with great music playing overhead, they had a gender neutral restroom and only street, valet, and metered parking. They also have some outdoor seating. Last, but not least, I also got a Croissant that was stuffed with great amount of Matcha. I haven't had something like that before. ($8.75). I asked for a receipt, and Harley said he can email it to me, but I said I needed a printed copy, and he refused to give it to me. I may or may not return. Food was very fresh, delicious, hot, and came out pretty quickly. That's all for now.

My Latte tasted very good, on the flip side the Croissant wasn't as warm and fresh as I wanted for it to be. I asked the ladies behind the counter to warm it up again.
