Bought a pair of hokas for a168.00 they told me I could get 50% off if I used the receipt in ten days (it used to be for ever) I went back to get another pair of Hokas and went up to the counter to pay and get my half off then he pulls out some sign , which was not there when I bought the first pair and told me I could not use the discount on Hokas. This is a unique recommendation for runners to peel themselves from the fancy stores and DIY. Especially if you have unique shoe needs or large sizes. Prices are better than Dicks and the fancy stores if you know what you want. I'm a newer runner and I've been trusting local, dedicated running shoe stores for several years to choose the right shoes. I've never loved the shoes they helped me choose. The last pair was just not right, caused ITBS. Before that, they were too big....lost mobility. The first pair from the running store wasn't right at all. I'm not dissing the fancy stores. They're helping lots of normal, selective, and advanced runners. It turns out that I don't run in the same gait as I walk. The fancy shoe store tech just didn't work. For the prices, I'm expecting a near podiatrist (which is unreasonable, I know) This year, I must have tried on 10 shoes at the fancy store and REI. None of them delighted... my size was not in stock and I even ordered some in. So I went to Rogan's. I literally picked every running shoe in my size and lined them up. Hoka, Brooks, ASICS, Saucony, even Nike, Adidas.... Every single one. SELF SERVICE IS AWESOME!!! I tried high and low drop. Support and neutral. Wide and narrow toe boxes. Every config...every combo. I ran around the store like a fool. Staff was awesome, tolerant, and helpful but not necessarily knowledgeable. In the end, I found TWO shoes that were unexpected configurations that were AMBROSIA to run in and one was 50% off. Now I have both well padded trainer and a weightless race day shoe. My running distance doubled... I can't stop. My feet don't hurt and the ITBS is at bay. EAST HAS BIGGER RUNNING DHOE SELECTIONS. There's a huge selection of normal shoes. I never knew of this place or just ignored their existence. Well, they have work boots and hiking boots. They always offer Buy 1 Get 1 half off. But get this.... 1. If you can't get 2 pair or don't need 2 pair that day then keep your receipt and return for the half off. 2. If you only need 1 pair of shoes they'll price match. Service was stellar Glad I was walking and noticed their delivery diesel. It's setup like a mobile library. You know book mobile. And that made me notice the store so I went in to get Timberland Pro's. They legit saw no issue with matching the discounted timberland price. We don't know what to make of this place. Are the employees on commission or are they just harkening back to a bygone era when the shoe store employees were professionals who assisted you with the entire process of getting the correct fit and style of shoe? We stopped in last night to get hubby a new pair of sandals before they were completely gone with the new Fall retail pretty much upon us. He had more than enough "assistance" through the entire process. It was nearly a "hard sell" with the employee asking him over and over what he liked about each pair and then even turning to me, the wife, asking me what I thought. I was staying out of the picture since this was a capable 49-year-old man choosing his shoes not a 10-year-old boy. We were also a little shocked by the prices, unsure if that is just what shoes run these days. We tend to think everything is just priced at retail since they have an ongoing buy one, get one at half price promotion going on. In the end, he did find sandals that worked for him thanks to their extensive inventory. The correct size had to be ordered from their Beloit location and will be delivered to our house. If they don't fit, we can return them to the Madison store. The sandals were 20% off and came in cheaper than all the big online retailers we compared them too. They not eligible for the buy one, get one at half price promotion so we didn't bother looking for any other shoes. read more

The store is clean and well-organized, and some of their sale items weren't too badly priced. They were also running a buy one, get one 50% off sale, so depending on what you found it could be a reasonable deal. My major problem is that I couldn't get a single person to acknowledge me or offer to help me the entire 20-30 minutes I was in the store until I literally said, out loud, "does anybody want a commission?" I was saying it to my boyfriend as a joke that that is what it would take to get someone's attention, but one gentleman heard the keyword and came over to ask if we needed assistance. If everyone had been busy I'd understand, but we were one of a handful of groups in the store and several of their employees were literally lined up in the main aisle, facing the door, ready to assist, but for whatever reason ignored me as I was clearly hunting for first a specific shoe and second a Brannock device. Obviously they wouldn't know what I was looking for until speaking to me, but since they didn't bother to inquire I gave up on myself and helped my boyfriend, and it was in my fifth or so cycle of the store that I made my joke and we finally got help. I am generally a hands-off shopper and prefer that salespeople don't hover, but when I make eye contact and stop walking and the person just keeps chatting with their coworker it's not my favorite thing. I wouldn't not go back - they have plenty of stock - but it's also not at the top of my list. read more

This is honestly my favorite shoe store in Madison. When I was a kid I really wanted a pair of expensive cowboy boots my mom told me someday when my feet stop growing, I could buy expensive shoes. That magical day has arrived. I have no qualms about spending $100+ on a pair of shoes since I spend all day on my feet--what I wear for shoes is an important decision. I will admit utility, quality and comfort all come before style in my shoe selection- but I think I always have options when I shop here. Keens, birkenstocks, danskos, Clarks, Merrell, naturalizers in many styles. Although I'm not afraid to spend $$$ on shoes, I still like to be sure I am getting a great deal, I have googled the style and color before purchasing numerous pair of shoes to find the price I'd pay on Amazon is comparable. This fact combined with the buy one get one 1/2 off deal that is running all the time has made me a loyal customer! read more

Well, I am a woman who HATES pink. I also HATE the black-and-white, either-or gendering that has befouled the experience of buying almost anything. That being said, I liked Rogan's. I go there to buy my shoes- always men's shoes. They're made better and not fucking PINK. They had no idea what to do with me, so they kind of avoided me. Not cool. But, the prices are good. They're always having some kind of sale, and if you need more than one pair of shoes, you can usually get the second pair for like half off! That is good. read more
