The lady who greeted me asked if I had an appointment, I did not. She proceeded to assist me anyway, using technology to analyze my feet and walking pattern. I was surprised to find out one foot had a very high arch, while the other was very low. Was never told this before and this information helped to explain a lot of things. My high arch was collapsing, affecting the ankle and knee and opposite leg as I was favoring one side over the other. Denise took A LOT of time with me, fitted me with several options of shoes and arch supports. I found one shoe with a support that gave me relief in my knee that I had not had for many, many months. It is shocking that relief could be experienced so quickly. Everything is not back to normal yet, but I am very happy with my purchase of shoes, arch support, socks. I highly recommend Fleet Feet and I would go again for the excellent personalized service. I would also recommend taking advantage of setting an appointment.

Better hiking shoe selection than the REI we have. Where REI had a couple options for men's hiking shoes, LL Bean had 6+. The best part of the experience was Alex, who helped us find the right shoes for us. She was very knowledgeable in each shoe type, knowing customers preferred and disliked about each shoe, and even knowing about how the companies changed their styles! I am 5'2" in height and was able to find two great hybrids and a road bike to try riding for my summer stay in Madison. I *immediately* fell in love with the one I eventually bought, in my very first ride on it. It's a Georgina Terry bike, and it's so thoughtfully made; my hands aren't flat when biking, but incline down, and that makes a huge difference to the comfort level. The bike's tires are also different sizes (!), which also allows for a smaller frame for shorter people like myself. But really, besides the great selection, what I loved about the store is the exceptional staff. Riley was immensely patient with me, pulling the seat up and pushing it down *multiple times* as I needed it, so I could try it; and she did this with me for three hours (not even exaggerating) before I (finally) made my decision; I cannot believe she had the patience to put up with my nitpicking for that long! She also helped me find a solid (and cute) helmet. Nick tuned up the bike really well for me and was very thoughtful in suggesting that I buy a U-lock (and not a cable lock) and get it fixed in the frame - and he did that for me! Thank you, Riley and Nick. I LOVED biking back home from the store, and that bike ride totally changed my opinion of the city itself, now that I could move about without feeling grumpy, like I was in the buses here. Overall, I loved the people working here and the vibe they have. If you are in Madison and looking to get a bike, this is the place you should go to.
