We were given a thorough lecture on the tobacco growing and harvesting process for cigars, the history, and then we rolled our own cigars. Afterwards we went upstairs to look at more cigars and have the opportunity to make a purchase. The gentleman who led the tour was the owner-operator. He spoke with a deep love for his family who started this business. He spoke with passion and intensity. It is rare to find people who have such deep appreciation for one's work. By chance, our guide brought us in here while we were on the Key West Food and Cultural Walking Tour. It's the oldest cigar shop in the Florida Keys and it is family owned. We were able to watch them rolling cigars. The shop is clean and, well designed with a good history of information inside. The service was great as he helped us purchase a sampler 4 pack of cigars. I love the service and friendliness when you first walk in! Greeted with warmth and asked about hubbys taste preferences. Walked through a bunch a things like, what he drinks with them, etc. Ended up with a lovely sampler and a few singles. I never have smoked cigars before but wanted to take a tour of the cigar factory. From the reviews it looked like touring a Cuban cigar factory would be the way to go and I wasn't disappointed. Danny who gave us the tour, not only gave us a tour but he told us about his family history in the business and was very detailed in informing us about the different parts of the plant that make sure. I've smoked cigars for over 50 years all over the world. I tried each of their type of cigars, Reserved, 84 and 1925. All were excellent cigars with good flavor well wrapped so they had excellent draw. I made two trips to buy more cigars within two days. I am not sure what I walked into, but it sure was not a "cigar factory". Touting a tour, I rushed to get there in time. I walked in and found myself facing two women and an empty store that looked like they were in the process of moving in/out with boxes everywhere. I didn't ask for a tour, as I don't think there is one?? I was escorted into the crowded narrow humidor, asked what I usually smoke and then shown some pretty pricey cigars. Unlike the small cigar factory shop in New Orleans, there were no visible rollers. After seeing $11-$15 sticks, I decided to pass and walk out. He was clearly chatting with some old friends...but got my name, where I'm from and what I like to smoke in the first couple of minutes. He led me and my wife upstairs to a beautifully crafted humidor...when he guided me to a box he recommended based on my flavor profile. Then he handed me a cigar and we went back down to join his friends. He insisted I sit and smoke the cigar. It was on the house. He wanted to see me enjoy it. We talked cigars, life, college, occupation, family...hell...before I knew it, my wife and I were now friends of Danny's too! Cigars are about the experience. It took me a little searching to find the store, but once so found the court yard I honed on on the spot. I was in a super hurry and didn't have time to join Danny on the tour, but grabbed a box and cigar. The construction of these cigars is top notch. I've smoked about 1/2 the box and not one has let me down with a funny burn. Very durable wrapper, these are solid cigars. The flavor is a little more medium than what I'm used to and it doesn't build all that much over the smoke of the toro. Still, very enjoyable and excellent quality. I can't wait to go back and check out the tour. In the meantime I'll order some more online. read more

I went there in December, expecting a good experience based on the reviews. I spoke to Danny, and told him I was something of a novice, but I knew what I wanted in terms of quantity and strength. As soon as the word novice left my mouth, I could tell he lost all respect for me, and talked to me like I was some kind of moron. I do know a little about cigars, including "don't be a cigar snob." We all have to start somewhere. Instead of treating people who don't live and die by cigars with disdain, try to be helpful and enthusiastic for them, and maybe they'll become a connoisseur some day because of you. Not think, "Ahh, I see. This is a hobby for snobs." Despite repeating myself that I wanted only four or five mild cigars, I would up purchasing 10 cigars of varying strenghts (mostly stronger than I or my friends are used to), because well...he didn't listen to a word I said. The cigars themselves are good, though the cigars were a little dry and cracked on the ends in one of the boxes I purchased. As I said, I am a novice (only having three and a half before these), but the ones I smoked were enjoyable. My friends are about the same level of smoker I am, and enjoyed them too. I have not been anywhere else in Key West for cigars, but if I return that way, I'll probably try someplace else. read more
