Counter service for great coffee, salads, sandwiches.

We just loved Rodilla. When traveling with the family fast and cheap rules the roost. I'm a cafe con leche addict and this was my fix. We visited this Rodilla multiple times and loved ordering from the counter. We tried all types of different sandwiches and salads and enjoyed them all. Some of the family favorites were the ham, tuna and tomato, egg and ham. Ordering a sandwich here does not necessarily get you a complete sandwich the way it would in the US. It seems you might get pieces of sammy. Not that helpful, sorry, we never really did figure it out. The upstairs has a nice eating area. When you are finished there are shelves to bus your tray. The standout was the cafe con leche. We would have a huge tray of food for four or five people and pay only 20.00 some Euro. Wow, I would love Panera in Florida if we could have that. We found Rodilla has an online ordering app and we thought that might be helpful since ordering for so many people gets confusing and we were a bit lost when our Spanish speaker wasn't present. Unfortunately, we were not able to get the app to take our credit card. We found entering the order in app and handing the order page displayed on my phone to the counter attendant very helpful. Mush easier for them to read down the order list than try to deal with our Spanglish. Rodilla, please come to Parkland, Florida. Miss you already.

Not a bad place to stop in for inexpensive coffee and tasty pastries! A cafe con leche is 1.30 euros, and a chocolate croissant is 1.35 euros. For breakfast they have cafe + croissant combos that are around 2 euros. Although I didn't try them, they also had a pretty good selection of sandwiches.

Estrella Damm, orange juice, cafe bombon, and foie sandwiches.

I used to work at a small gourmet deli in LA where I became cheese obsessed (thank god for those lactaid tablets! that help me digest cow milk) and when we moved back to Madrid and I breezed past the window display on Arenal filled with an interesting large block cheese selection along with charcuterie and other choice Spanish food products, I felt I'd found something familiar, something close to home. And something that would definitely test my willpower. And though it is nothing like home, really, it is large and spectacular nonetheless. There's a wonderful variety of cheese to choose from: cured sheep cheese, feta, swiss, gruyere, mascarpone, comte, ricotta, munster, morbier and much more. The selection of meats and charcuterie is crazy. This is a great place to shop for a party, a special dinner, a gift (basket, maybe?), the holidays and to take back home with you on the plane, that is, if you are lucky enough not to get busted by Customs. Don't sweat the formal and sometimes grumpy service. They are service oriented but they aren't there to make you feel at home. And, it turns out that the deli, though quite traditional, offers coffee made with different types of milk, including a milk that is lactose free!!! This is a huge bonus for me and still unheard of in LA. Score, Spain!
