I'll be honest we came here with NO EXPECTATIONS...we came for a wedding and it was not in LA so it was a last minute reservation...I called first ...for my surprise the person on the phone as very kind and we made the reservation from the website...it was cheap... we said we will arrive at 11pm way later than original check in is and he say it's ok. And that they will wait for us Reception at 11pm The person was super nice. Helped us. Direct, attentive, fast. He even recommended couple stores that still open at the time we arrived in case we were hungry or we will like to snack on ... The room. Was clean, tall ceiling so it give a very spacious vibe, the bed was comfortable...we did had no neighbors so we didn't have any noise the whole night was very quite. We did had hot water. Tv with cable, So in my book is a very good place for the price ... We spent 2 nights there ... it needs to be renovated? Yes...but hey good quality sleep, hot showers, comfortable room, spacious, quiet, clean and kind for that price 68$ a night I consider this a WIN read more

Absolutely horrible experience. I accidentally put my Google Voice number on the reservation, & the night manager called it several times. When I arrived around 10:40pm, he immediately became aggressive, accusing me of lying & berating me for several minutes before refusing to check me in. When I asked for a refund, he refused--claiming a room was ready but still wouldn't check me in. After I snapped & muttered an insult out of frustration, he slammed the window in my face. Moments later, my partner arrived, & the tone completely changed. The manager suddenly wanted to explain himself to the man, trying to justify his treatment of me. My partner made it clear that he would either refund us or check us in, but that I would stay in the car because I was rightfully upset. The manager kept trying to force me to come up to the window in person, but my partner refused to allow that. When we did get the room, it was filthy: cigarette burns in the comforter, burnt tub & bathmat (possibly from drug use), holes in the curtains, others taped together with electrical tape. This place was nicer than expected because I set my expectations so low based on other's reviews. The sound insulation made it so we could hear our neighbors pretty clearly, especially late at night. My fiancé noticed a small squiggly hair on his towel, but mine seemed clean. There are significant damages to the place when we arrived so we took pictures to ensure that we get our $100 damage deposit back. The bed was decently firm, but better than a saggy, old bed! The coffee was one of the worst and wateriest we've ever had lol. Other than these complaints, the stay was better than expected. There was still some hair in the shower from the previous resident, the bed, box spring, and couch were so stained it was unbelievable. Went to the store to buy sheets and towels to use over my two night stay because it seems washing/cleanliness wasn't the highest priority. I am a frequent traveler to Fallbrook as I am having a house built here. I have stayed at the three primary motels in town on Mission Street. This Rodeway is usually on the cheaper end of pricing and my frequent trips make it more economical to stay here. I stayed here most recently May 4-6, and before that in mid-March. I have stayed at this property many (many!) times. My most recent visit has convinced me never to stay here again. I booked my stay on the hotels.com app as usual. I prepaid for the multiple nights. I drove in from Las Vegas and arrived at about 11:15pm. "Chris" at the front desk didn't welcome me but rather confronted me asking why the phone number on my reservation was disconnected. He said he tried to call me to inquire when I was arriving. He asked me what my phone number is. I told him and he asked why the phone number on the reservation is different. I explained to him that I made the reservation using my account on the Hotels.com app - as I always do. I showed him that my name, address and phone number were correct in the app. He, in turn, showed me that his computer system had a different phone number (very different than mine). I am not sure it was even a phone number actually... He then put his mobile phone on speaker and redialed the number in front of me. It was clearly disconnected or not a valid phone number. He asked me to change the number on my reservation to my correct number. I showed him my info and phone number again in the app and advised that I cannot correct what was already correct on my side. Omg... he was relentless! I tried calling hotels.com via the Contact Us link in the app. It brought me to a live chat window instead of providing a phone number. I seriously could not find a number to call within the app. I am a Hotels.com Gold Member. (Later, I found a phone number on my email confirmation...) Meanwhile, I offer to Chris other forms of ID, multiple credit cards, even my car registration(!) He kept insisting that I needed to change the phone number on my registration with Hotels.com. Wow... It's already correct... what to do?! It's after 11pm at night on a Wednesday in this dinky town and this guy will not allow me to check into my room on my *prepaid* room registration, with ID and credit card and with me willing to give him my phone number in person -- that he could call and confirm right there ! Koo koo for coco puffs CRAZY...! Needless to say, we were at an impasse. I left... I drove off with my luggage in the car and no room reservation for the night. I will let the Yelp reader decide if this is a place they are willing to risk making a reservation at and staying. I will never stay here again and when I move into the community, I will never have my friends or guests stay here either. This place should be removed from the Choice Hotels franchise. I should have seen the reviews for this hotel room. The check-in was brutal. The guy at the front desk was extremely difficult with myself and the Hotels.com operator. I've gone through hotels.com and have had no issues. I'd say maybe it was just me, but this room has had a history of issues. I can expect more issues if we ever get our room key. When I first arrived I was trying to give this place the benefit of the doubt saying it's just old and rustic. Then I walked into the bathroom and the tub and shower were filthy, was definitely not cleaned in a while, dirt and hair all over it. The coffee pot was filthy dirty with an old filter still inside. There was something on the side of the mattress and sheets that I can't even figure out what it is, maybe a bug or a nest of some sort. The front door is falling apart and they nailed a piece of wood to hold it together. I have never in my life experienced anything like this. I can't believe this place can stay in business. I will not be back nor would I recommend this place to anyone. Stay far away. I will be getting a tetanus shot as soon as I return home!! Lol read more

I give this facility 3 stars mostly because of my exchange with Omar at the front desk. I watched him go out of his way to contact other hotels and make sure that "Mrs. Jenkins" could get a room tonight because he had just sold out. I then watched him help another woman who came in behind me. It was obvious this guy has been running all day, and after talking to him for a while and seeing what kind of schedule he was working, I was really impressed he was able to keep up such a cheerful attitude and even managed to show personal interest in each of his guests. Hats off to you Omar! if you ever leave, I will rate this place with three stars and recommend that they invest in some upgrades as far as beds and bathrooms go read more

Urine soaked mattress! Dirty and unsafe feeling. Rude/no customer service. Had to leave late at night in our PJ's to find a new hotel. Despite all this we may not get our money back!!! These are just the highlights. Read on to get the whole adventure: See photos! We were visiting a friend in Fallbrook this Saturday, so we dropped off our bags in the afternoon and went out to dinner. When we returned later we got ready for bed. As I pulled back the blanket and sheet, I realized that the fitted sheet seemed damp. To my horror, not only the sheet, but the mattress itself was very damp. This was not a small spot either, but a large portion covering the whole middle section of the bed and the side. By this time it was 10:30 PM. We called the front desk to report the issue and see if we could be moved to another room. We were told by the man who checked us in, who appeared to be the only person we saw working there, that he cannot do that after 12:30 AM. We told him that it was only 10:30. He then said, he meant after 6:30 he can't change our room, that we should have told him earlier. Well, this is when I went to bed and it did not occur to me to inspect the bed before hand. We asked what our options were and he said we could come get a new set of sheets. I don't know about you, but I am not comfortable sleeping on a wet, possibly urine soaked mattress, that's got a thin sheet covering it. He told us that we could get a refund from Expedia if we contacted them. At this point he yelled at my friend on the phone, saying, "There is nothing I can do!" She calmly asked why he was yelling at her, saying she should be upset, not him. We informed him that we would be leaving and he hung up. He called back to tell us to return the keys or we would be charged. When I returned the keys and checked out I told him about the terrible condition of the room, especially the bed. He didn't respond. I asked if he was sorry and he said no. I said that the person changing the sheets must have known they were wet. He said that he did not know that. I finally asked if he takes any responsibility and, again he said no. We found a lovely hotel 15-20 minutes down the road in Oceanside, a Courtyard by Marriott with great service and clean comfortable rooms. Unfortunately, Expedia may not give any of my money back from that awful experience at the Roadway Inn in Fallbrook since the man on duty last night says that we waited till too late to tell him and we didn't want the sheets he was offering. Should I have to pay $118 dollars for a hotel I didn't stay at, where they were unwilling to move me from a room with a wet/urine stained mattress, and where their only solution was to cover it up with sheets and treat us rudely? Expedia will get back to me in the next 72 hours. I sincerely hope that Roadway Inn does the right thing and refunds my money. read more

One of the WORST experiences I've ever had. Booked this place as a last resort- we were driving a far distance to attend a wedding. First off, these rooms are advertised as "non-smoking", yet our room reeked of smoke. And on top of that the room was completely filthy. Took a chance because I got a good weekly rate through Priceline and am in the middle of a move, so was just trying to save on accommodations before moving into new apartment. I figured how bad can a cheap hotel be in Fallbrook. I had one goodnight out of the week. The rest of the time I was suffocated by tobacco smoke, marijuana and what smelled like drying paint the last night I stayed. One particular staff member there is beyond rude and so this review is based completely on his attitude problem, and doesn't speak for the other office and housekeeping who were nice and normal. I deal with a lot of people in the public and this particular employee isn't just rude but one of the rudest people I've dealt with in customer service possibly ever and he isn't the owner, but low key seems to think he is. So the owner can thank him for the one star, which could have been 2 stars if not for this employees attitude problem. Don't expect a whole lot here because everything needs updating. I stayed in two different rooms and the curtains in both rooms needed dry cleaning. Dirty and smelled like smoke. All the bed mattresses (a king in one room and two queens in the other) are lumpy and probably never replaced. They have sleep indents which is extremely uncommon as I travel now and then, and I've only had this issue ONCE in a very very seedy hotel 10 years ago, otherwise it's practically unheard of. Most hotels will replace the mattress when it's this bad and 3 beds had this issue, so I'm guessing they just don't replace them at all. Also they are very loud on top of the metal frames. The bedspreads all have cigarette burns. One room didn't have a fire alarm. Hello? Do I need to explain why that's wrong? Not well cleaned. If you move a table there is significant dirt behind it. One tv did not work well, the other had a minor screen issue that went in and out. Replaced the batteries, asked for another control and it just refused to work so it's the tv. Not a big deal I guess, but also the bathtub/shower knob took a lot of jiggling and twisting to latch to the actual hot water mechanism. Yes it has hot water but you'd not know it unless you are familiar with dealing with old broken plumbing (ok I'm actually not an expert but kinda just figured it out myself since I didn't want to bother the rude front desk agent about anything) so it took a few minutes to latch the hot. The other room the hot was just hot and stayed one temp and that's all you get. The plumbing desperately needs updating. The fans in both bathrooms did not work AT ALL. One bathroom clearly had mold at a time, I don't think it was alive, but it was stained in one bathroom which subsequently also had a dead cockroach and a little living one I had to flush down the toilet. No other reoccurring issues with bugs, but not sure why it was there to begin with. No safety locks. Just the deadbolt, but the security of the additional locks are always nice. Should I mention pros to be fair? Ok they provide shampoo, hand soap, a blow dryer, the refrigerator and microwave are clean, the sheets are clean and the towels are mostly clean (one or two had stains but you get two towels etc so not a huge issue compared to the bigger issues listed.). There is a coffee maker as well. The pillows are ok. The rooms are spacious enough. But they need desperate updating. Also the lampshades are dirty, you will notice cobwebs as well. The upholstery needs to be dry cleaned/wet vacuumed. Desperate need for major updates and employee training for one rude employee who seems to have no understanding of customer care at all. read more

As a frequent business traveler This is one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. The management was unwelcoming and unhelpful. The rooms were 100° so we had the crank the old loud AC unit which had a funny smell. The rooms are filthy dirty and stained. The toilet tank was hanging off the top of the toilet and broken. The toilet seat was off kilter and scratched up just gross. There are urine stains on the bottom of the linoleum. The towels hanging in the bathroom were all wet. The decor is outdated and the towels were threadbare and needed to be replaced There were BLOODSTAINS in the sides of the box springs. Absolutely foul. And... to top it off The soda machine was broken and there is no food on premise. Do not stay here. It was also very overpriced for the poor quality of accommodations. read more

Do not stay here. The manager Raj quoted me a $179. Rate for a Sat night check in. I had been moving and was exhausted, so I said ok. The box springs had stains and squeaked. W every move, like they were rusted out in 1954. At check -out I asked Raj for an adjustment on the price-gouging rate. The hotel wasn t full that night. He gave me a bus card for the "General Manager" and said I should contact them. I called the number while I was standing there and Raj answered the phone. I asked for the general managers name and he said he "didn t know his name"...What? Clearly Raj was* the manager. At this point, Raj politely closed the window and refused to finish checking me out. Corporate needed my receipt number, which Raj refused to give me. He helped other customers through the door. I had NOT been given my deposit back or been checked out, Nor given a receipt. I stood there for over an hour and a half, while he took care of all/any other business. What kind of operation is this*? I travel a lot & in my many if travels never have I experience a nicer hotel. it's tucked away nicely not too close but not too far from restaurants, stores, etc... the rooms are clean & nicely kept. The prices are more than reasonable even for the weekends the staff is the greatest. In todays time find kind courtesy people that genuinely want to help. The staff is excellent the receptionist is impeccable she also works with you & your situation at hand. I do not recommend coming here if you are a woman that expects proper documentation and good customer service. I booked and paid for a stay here through a third party company. I showed up for check in and was told I needed to pay a $60 security deposit. I asked for the form that outlines this and that I'd be refunded once there are no issues. I was told they did not have a form and the *very rude man* assisting me showed me an explanation of the security deposit on booking.com (not who I booked through) that said their deposit is $50. I offered to pay a $50 deposit in line w that form and he said it has to be $60 but had no form to back that up. When I pointed this out, he grew very irate with me, raised his voice and started flipping out. I was very calm during this entire conversation so I don't understand what was going on for him. I wanted to cancel my stay because of his attitude alone - I did not feel safe - but my stay was non refundable. However, he beat me to the punch and told me they would cancel my reservation. He literally refused service to me because I asked for forms and documentation. I have never been refused service before so I was shocked. In my clinical opinion this was a total *power move* to get one over on me and *show me* how powerful he is. I asked him for confirmation that he would magically cancel my non refundable reservation. He said he emailed the third party and refused to give me an email copy or print out of whatever he did to prove that. Again, refusing to help to demonstrate how powerful he is. Without any way of contacting the third party to report this, I basically lost all money I paid. They basically robbed me for being a woman that asks questions and points out inconsistencies. Go to the Econolodge right across the street. $20 for a replacement card of a hotel key? $2.50 cleaning fee charge per day and you didn't clean my room not once and I stayed 4 nights. They are NEVER in the office. Upon arrival, there were 4 other people waiting to check in at 7pm and we were all frustrated waiting for 20 minutes as I continued to call their #, and they stood 10 feet from the office talking on their cell phone. The price of this hotel does not match the cleanliness or upkeep of it. I gave these people the benefit of the doubt upon arrival after two other guests canceled their reservations prior to me checking in. They charged my card around around $270 for ONE NIGHT when booking online even though I chose the option to pay upon arrival. And they said they cannot refund it. So I asked to cancel my reservation, and they said to cancel my reservation, they'd take the first night payment- the $270 first night charge, and then $59 for each night afterwards? Really? This is how they get you into keeping your reservation at a VERY disappointing place. They are just interested in taking your money, and they don't even allocate those funds to a good use- clean the moldy bathroom. Wash the sheets better. Have better service and communicative skills. This place was disgusting. First things first; couldn't get the damn lights to turn on (checked in after 11pm); the tub has pincher bugs crawling around in it; the tub faucet is dripping and the handle covers of the tub are not attached to the wall - the handles don't look like they have ever been cleaned; there are multiple burn holes on the bed spread; who ever painted this place did not do a good job. There are paint drips and splatter all over; there is literally a hair hanging from the towel on the shelf; the ice bucket looks like its never been cleaned; the bedside tables are totally beat up along with the rest of the furniture; the buzz and moan that the fridge makes is obnoxious - if I didn't have stuff that needed to be kept refrigerated I'd unplug it; none of the outlet covers are actually attached properly; two of the pillow cases have a stain on it; the door doesn't seem to line up properly; the drawers are all dirty and smudged and with bits; the bed doesn't feel remotely comfortable, there's a huge dip on one side; the mirror is screwed into the wall crooked; the bed is on a metal frame that you literally kick with your toes everytime you walk up to the bed; there are disgusting dripping stains that glow under a black light on the wall; the shelf of the "closet" looks like its never been dusted; the curtains have black stains all over them; the picture hanging above the bed is covered in spots; there are cob webs on the picture, as well as in the corners of the room. I am absolutely disgusted. I understand that I am paying an average of $105 a night. For a grand total of $230 for two nights... but really does budget motel really mean that you have to subject yourself to filth? Does no one take pride in their business anymore? I'm sorry but this is America - we need to do better. I dont even feel safe here. The damn door does not feel secure. There's no extra lock. So far the only thing going for this place is the fact that you park right in front of your door. I'm literally pacing around because I don't even want to sit down on anything in here. So I decided to call the front desk about all the burn holes on the bed spread and you'll never believe it - the damn phone doesn't work. I will not be stay at this place again. I expected a lot more from Fallbrook. And I dont know why I thought there would be any maid service. I would not recommend this place to anyone ever. Even it if only cost $50 a night. read more

The room had a stench that was horrible. We could not sleep in this nasty place. We got a couple hours rest and left in the middle of the night . I'd stay here again providing I received the type of room I paid for. I reserves a king room about 2 weeks in advance. The price via Booking.com was 79.00 which was a little high but for a Saturday night and being within 20 minutes of Temecula I was willing to pay it. I did like the way it was set up. You were able to park right in front of your room and all one level. We were allowed to do a pre check in since we were going to be exploring wine country the entire afternoon. That w as a nice perk. We arrive to get the key to the room at abut 5pm. I asked when the key was handed to me, "this is for a king room, 1 bed NOT 2 correct". The I was told yes. We w ere t raveling with another couple which had reservd the same thing. We went to our room, my friends got a king room my girlfriend and I received a room with 2 beds (where's the KING I paid for). I specifically reserved a KING BED I wanted a bebd with a little room not something we had to squeeze into. I understand we both could've had room if we had utilized the 2 bedbs but thats not the point! We were both exhausted and my girl didnt want me to complain and to just accept it rather than end our day on a negative so I didn't say anytjing until the next morning at check out at which time I pointed out the reservation and price and I was told that's NOT what I reserved...HELLO....its on my receipt and on the site itself, I know what I reserved. Also discovered that the man who checked us in was sick and had been sick for a few days with a cough. Considering the COVID-19 and its seriousness he should not have been helping customers he shuld not hve been there at all and that was concerning. We had a small.issue with the person next door as we were checking on our friend who wasnt feeling well, talking in a normal tone and the man in the room next door demanded we not talk because his wifie was sleeping. Only to walk into the bathroom to discover soap left from the last occupant .
