I am struggling between 3 and 4 star for Rococo Ramen. I decided to go with 4 stars because I have to take it into account that this is in Granada Hills. Not many options are in this area. Rococo is a pretty good ramen place. Especially considering all other ramen places in the valley. It definitely is in more of a "good" category. Downside I am about to write are completely subjective. I find most of these new ramen place to be in pretty similar style. One place might be better than others but the broth, style of ramen... they are all same. Unfortunately, Rococo is one of them. Broth is very rich for sure. But I found it a bit "porky" to be honest. And it is on the pricey side. I really wish ramen shops would expand into different styles and flavors. But more than anything, I find that ramen broths in the US try to reach the depth of what the broth can be through "strong" tasting. Rather than having that depth of broth come from something more fundamental and basic. I had many bowls of ramen in Japan where it did not look fancy or rich in color. But the base of the soup is so good without extra flavoring that it makes the whole bowl come alive. I have seen Rococo's chef go through proper way of opening his shop. Even through soft launching and making sure the staff is well trained and it will be a pleasant experience at the restaurant. I am hoping they will put their expertise on really discovering what makes truly great ramen. I write this review with hope of having a great ramen joint in the valley and hoping that Rococo will evolve into something great. read more

This my new ramen spot. The service are fast and always on top of refilling waters even though they are busy. I like how their menu is simple so it's easier to choose from. My aunt and I love our ramen, we have been on the hunt for a delicious bowl in SCV since we moved here. For the record, I compare every bowl of tonkotsu ramen to Kanpai in Glendale which has my heart. Short review: great spicy tonkotsu ramen for the average price many other ramen joints sell for. Slow, inattentive staff. Long review: We've tried Umaichi Ramen in Saugus, Futaba in Northridge, Kopan and Sapporo in Glendale, King of Ramen in Pasadena, and now Rococo in Granada Hills. Rococo's ramen was worth the wait. It's a decent sized spot that sits maybe 30 or so guests. We went in on a Sunday afternoon just before the rush really began. But I noticed as people walked in no hostess or waiters acknowledged them. As items were being delivered to other tables not even a "hello we'll be right with you" to customers coming in. To me, that would make such a big difference than if I were ignored while waiting to be seated. There is a hostess stand at the front but no one attending to it, you gotta rely on a waiter seeing you, or that you walk in just as a waiter is looking at the door. Otherwise, be prepared to wait if it's busy. We ordered 2 spicy tonkotsu tamens, level 3 spicy which was just perfect for me, a gyoza appetizer and a side of extra signature tonkotsu broth and noodles for my 4 year old (which he enjoyed). The food takes a while to come out. Normally at Kanpai we can be seated, have ordered and be done with out meal in under an hour, and that place is a small joint fittings maybe... MAYBE 20 people. It's like their just cranking out ramen left and right there. Here, expect to wait about half an hour for your meal (reading other reviews it could take longer). We were first given our ramen and then the gyoza came out a few minutes later. The taste is rich and flavorful, and the 2 slices of pork belly are a nice, decently thick slice (kanpai is even more generous in this area!). I think a sheet of seaweed is extra, as ours didn't come with any. Some of the seating is cafeteria style, so you may end up sitting with some other people you don't know. It didn't bother us because there was a planter dividing the table. I would suggest adding a bell or something to the door so employees know when someone has come in so they're not standing there waiting to be seated. Also maybe pushing the tall table close to the door away from it so people waiting there don't have to crowd up against people already sitting and eating. I'll return for the food, as it was delicious and didn't let me down like all the other ramen places have. But please work on the service. read more

Intimate restaurant,friendly staff. The milk tea is great..the soups in general are really good. The only thing is that they do charge 50 extra for every half a lime or lemon they give you. Other than that great place for ramen!! read more

First time here and it was delicious. The soup base is nice and thick. I heard they have different thickness of noodles to choose from but I forgot to ask. The ingredients tasted really fresh. The pork was fatty which I don't mind but I know some wouldn't like it. I feel like it's priced slightly higher than other ramen places but worth a try. read more

Went here today with my family. Definitely the best spicy tonkatsu ramen I've had in the valley (or anywhere really). Really spicy and rich and heavy with pork flavors. Mom had the Shoyu and my brother had the regular tonkatsu and I would just say they were above average for the valley. Nothing really to write home about. I would definitely come back just for the spicy tonkatsu for when I'm having a craving. Their noodles could be better. If your a fan of spicy ramen definitely come here and try their spicy tonkatsu. read more

A good reflection on a restaurant is a question "would you come back?" And my answer for Rococo is not unless they do something about the ramen being just a bowl of noodles. I went here with my wife and two toddlers. My wife got the signature ramen and I got the chicken broth ramen and extra noodles on the side to share with the kids and an appetizer. My biggest gripe is that the ramen comes with one small piece of meat! Seriously wtf!?! For $12 you get a ton of noodles and just one price of meat. The ramen didn't feel like ramen that you can get elsewhere. It was plenty of noodles and light on everything else, 1 piece of meat, little to no greens. Just lots of noodles. Definitely not worth the $12 for a bowl of noodles. The interior is modern and clean, music was just right and not too loud, but the food, the main thing that we came to consume needs to be revisited, because as is it sucks. My wife and I LOVE Rococo. We come here at least twice a month and the food is always bomb. I usually get the spicy level 1 (yes I know, what a baby) and the chashu bun. It's small and intimate and never really too crowded. I was looking for spots during my break at work that sold ramen and fried chicken since I was craving both! And the first place that popped up was this restaurant by chance, and it was my first time coming here (mind you I like trying out different locations even if there's a bunch that may cater to the same items) and it DIDNT DISAPPOINT!! The ramen was flavorful, and chicken well done and crispy, and the buns were soft and not salty at all, so thank you chef for preparing this meal for me today! My mom loved the food even if it was reheated afterwards lol she said it was great! The ramen is phenomenal. I got the house special which I believe they have the broth going for some 10 hours. The savory flavor of the broth was exceptionally amazing with every bite of ramen and pork that it was matched with. The pork was super flavorful, with the outside of it full of flavor. The noodles were also on point, not being too firm or too soft, but right where you want them. I have yet to try the thick noodles which will be my choice the next visit. The only reason I made it 4 stars and not 5 is because of their lacking a fountain drink dispenser. I hate having to buy canned soda at a restaurant. It was really good. Both myself and my husband enjoyed our ramen and the gyoza was delish.

We got the spicy tonkatsu and the signature tonkatsu ramen bowls. The broth was creamy and the spiciness was well balanced and layered. (We got the level 4 spice since we love spicy food and it was the perfect level.) The noodles went really well with it. The pork was a little tougher than I usually like though but overall a good ramen spot. The service was fantastic! We went there at night and the place was hard to spot. Google maps brought us to the back but we couldnt find the entrance so we circled around a couple of times and finally found it! It probably would have been easier to find if the sign out front was lighted but hey, we got there and now we know where it is when we go back for more of that tasty ramen. ;) read more

First impression: you should not be waiting for 50 minutes just to the point where you get your meal. Came in at 2:15 and did not get to eat until 3:00 PM, on a Sunday. The waiting, the slow order taking. The staff did not appear to understand the POS, makes the waiting period just aggravating. Also, when the staff are just busy for the sake of looking busy, it's apparent that the whole staff including the kitchen staff are not prepared for the lunch rush. This resulting in long lines of waiting, people could not order their food in time because they were ignored or forgotten. The drinks served here are mostly canned drinks, maybe if you're opting for a great ramen experience you should limit your selection to hot tea or cold tea - made fresh. We ordered the spicy ramen and tsukemen. For the appetizer we tried the chicken wings with spicy garlic sauce and chasu bun. We were not happy with the flavors. We weren't able to finish our ramen. Chicken wings- chickens are tiny. Chasu bun- bread was soft. Chasu was bland, we could only taste the charred part of the meat. There were a lot of attempt to just drenched the taste with spicy mayo and fried shallots. Tsukemen- there were lack of quality control on this, noodles were overcooked. Broth were just not the right taste, I could not taste the "passion" on this dish. Spicy ramen- too oily (not from the fat) but I think from the chili oil or the fried onions, couldn't taste the broth. No flavors. Just oil. The noodle was overcooked. Also, why put fried shallots on everything? Some, but not all dish needs fried onions or shallots. I think this ramen place is not one of the best ramen restaurants in LA. A few Yelp reviewers claimed that it's the best one, sorry to say, I had to disagree. It's worth noting that during the promo they do give 50% off your bill, dine in only. This is great, because I definitely would not want to spend "LA" price if they do not step up their game. 10/10 would not go back. read more

Well folks.... my wife and I LOVE Ramen! We were so excited to have a place open up locally and boy what a massive let down! Having had Ramen all over the world, it's usually a joy to eat in the classic Japanese style with the simple and rich flavors and atmosphere usually found in a quality Ramen place.... Rococo is NOT that! Music too loud, and more importantly... the worst Ramen I have ever had! Zero flavor. Really, no flavor. The noodles seems NOT fresh and the wrong texture! I give them two stars only because they are close to home and I so badly want them to succeed. Gotta kick up the food and the flavor guys! The pork was tough and even tasted a bit too "porky" causing both my wife and I NOT to eat the "best part" (usually the succulent pork served in ramen is so delicious) as we did NOT trust it.... it seemed roasted and even grilled which ain't the way we like it in our soup. This is my new favorite ramen place. It used to be Hakata Ramen in Little Tokyo, but this one tops that. Especially since their pork chasu is thicker. Another plus is you can ask for thicker noodles too! The broth is perfect. Can't wait to go back again.
