I've purchased custom made dress shirts from Rocky's several times, and i've had issues on multiple occasions. Most recently, I purchased 4 dress shirts for $650 ($162 per shirt after all of their tariffs, import fees, etc). It took more than two months for the shirts to arrive, and they forgot to call me to tell me that they've arrived. I picked up the shirts today from the dry cleaner and the new shirts were incredibly wrinkled. Essentially, they're non-wearable in a professional setting because they were so wrinkled. It's not the dry cleaner because the other shirts were fine. It's cheap fabric. When you're in the store picking out fabrics for the shirts, they present with you 50-100 swatches of different types of white. It's impossible to know what the shirt is going to look like when it arrives and you see it in full in person. I'll have these shirts cleaned a few additional times to see if the fabric relaxes but i doubt it. If it gets better, I'll edit this review. But I can't justify paying $162 per shirt for something i can't wear. The last time i had an issue with them was when the shirts didn't fit right. They were too short in the sleeve. Instead of redoing them, they made me buy another set of 4 but gave me a discount off the new set. So if you're counting, i now have eight shirts from Rocky's for approximately $1200 that i can't wear. Never going back. read more

My friend Sylvia talked me into getting fitted for custom suits. For context, this is extremely out of character for me. I buy my suits from Banana Republic Factory Outlet and Nordstrom's Rack. They don't fit off the rack because I have a long torso and stubby legs so I usually have to get the pants hemmed at the cleaners. I'd say all in, the most I have spent is a few hundred bucks on a suit. I scoffed at the idea of custom suits because I'm doing just fine off the rack. Yes, the pants are loose in the waist and a smidge tight in the thighs, but I endure this because it's always been my plight. Sylvia convinced me that custom suits would be life-changing. I love and trust my friend Sylvia on most matters -- but this was not one of them. I'm in my fiftieth year and most of my life altering (see what I did there) moments are behind me. Sylvia and I were in LA together speaking at a conference and it just so happens her suit designer is in the LA area. So I acquiesced and went for a fitting at Rocky's Custom Clothes. First of all, I had absolutely no concept of the decisions I would have to make during this fitting. How do you like your collar style? What buttons would you like? How do you prefer the cut of your suit? Jacket length? Jacket style? Pant style? The list goes on but I'm exhausted typing it. After I picked out the foundational basics, we moved on to colors and patterns. Sapna (the designer) brought out books and books of fabrics and I had to choose the suit patterns, liners, and the trim for my shirts. This is not for the faint of heart. I'm pretty decisive but there are thousands of patterns and colors and at one point, I walked away and stress ate 7 toffee candies from the bowl in the shop. Fortunately, Sapna is an expert because she seamlessly (see what I did there) narrowed down my choices to a few so I wasn't overwhelmed. Her picks were perfectly coordinated. I settled on 3 suits, a blazer, and a pair of pants to match the blazer (for a more casual vibe). I flew back to LA to for the final fitting and made sure I told everyone that I was flying to LA for my custom suit fitting because that made me sound like a baller. Or a douchebag. Either way, I literally flew to LA for my custom suit fitting (squeezed in one more for effect.) When I walked into Rocky's, Sapna had one of my suits ready for me. It was like opening a present on Christmas morning because I couldn't recall what patterns we settled on during the original fitting because I was too exhausted from making decisions and eating toffee to take pictures. When I saw my suit, it was instant love. All the fabrics, linings, and trim came together in one glorious garment. I tried it on and it fit like slippery butter. All the years I fit into my suits were replaced by the suits fitting me. There is a big difference in that sentence. It's like fitting in versus belonging. Fitting in requires you to adapt while belonging is being perfectly you. I opened the jacket to see my very own name embroidered in the lining and I almost cried. The only downside to this is that I will probably stop strangers and open my suit coat to show them my name stitched in the lining. If you are on the receiving end of this, please don't press charges. Sylvia was right. Getting custom suits was life-changing -- but not because they fit great or because they are cool. They do and they are. Rather, it's about worthiness. I feel genuinely worthy of wearing a suit that makes me feel like I own the stage of my life. Thank you Sapna and Rocky's. read more

I've been working with Rocky's for almost fifteen years now, and there's a reason I keep going back: they simply make the best suits and shirts I've ever worn. Moreover, there's something incredibly satisfying about clothing that's actually custom made. Where you pick out all the details, from the fabric to the lining, from the cuffs to the collar, from the buttons to the pocket placement. And when you put them on - well, there's something about a suit and shirt that were made perfectly for you that just isn't matched by anything off the rack. Especially if, like me, your measurements make you a little tough to fit without extensive tailoring. And if you're worried about the cost of custom clothes, Rocky's is somehow right around what it would cost to buy a nice suit from Nordstroms - except what you're getting from Rocky's is miles better in feel, fit, and fabric. I've worked with Sapna three different times now, for both suits and shirts, and she's an absolute dream to work with - especially if you may not know exactly what you want beyond the broad strokes. Where I have opinions, she listens. Where I don't, she offers up experienced suggestions. I trust her implicitly now - to the point where she recently suggested a suit pattern that felt maybe a little too cool for my more conservative suiting tastes, but I was willing to trust her experience and decided to give it a shot. So obviously, less than an hour into wearing it for the first time, a complete stranger on the street tells me "That's a really nice suit." (Thank you again for that one, Sapna.) And better get used to hearing "Nice suit" too - it happens a lot with Rocky's clothes. My favorite one was a costume designer who told me point blank that she'd never seen a suit so perfectly fitted outside of a set or a fashion shoot and begged me to tell her where I got it so she could send her husband. I'm a bit late with this review... I've been too busy wearing my fantastic looking suit and overcoat and shirts! First off, I had a deadline. 5 weeks. That was the first thing I asked when I walked in - can you get me dressed in 5 weeks? For custom, that is really fast. Danish checked, and assured me it would happen. Great, now let's get something made up. Rocky's has a massive selection of fabrics, and they know their cuts and styles. If you're not sure whether you'll look right in an English-cut single-breasted, or a Brooks Bros. cut, or a double-breasted, Danish or one of the other fellows here will ask you where you're going to wear it, and size up your body type and personality and will steer you in the right direction. I've bought bespoke before and knew what I wanted, and Danish still made excellent suggestions about details, fabrics and colors. He'll make you look good. And check out that suit lining he found for me! (see the pic) I love the inside of this suit as much as the outside haha. The event I was dressing for was up in Oregon in October - cold! - so I went ahead and got an overcoat too. Beautiful charcoal cashmere, in a unique single-breasted style with covered buttons that you just can't find off the rack - that kind of thing helps a man stand out from the crowd. The fabric was so nice, I kind of had to consciously refrain from petting it. And I'm 6' 4" and can never find an overcoat long enough (at least that's not size 50 or something), so I told Danish, "Make it long. I want this thing to go midway between my knee and my ankle - because I can!" And he did. It's glorious, it flows beautifully when I'm walking, and I look like a million bucks in it. I ended up with a 2-piece suit, a cashmere overcoat, 2 shirts, and 3 ties for thousands less than one traditional bespoke suit. What's the difference? Well, as I mentioned, I've had a bespoke suit made before. In the traditional Saville Row way, there is at *least* one fitting in between the measuring and the delivery. In my case, there were two fittings after I was measured: For the first, the tailor made a mockup in muslin fabric - basically cheap butternut fabric - hung it on me, and marked it up for further adjustments. Second: A "basted fitting." This is where the actual fabric is loosely stitched, or basted, together. The tailor hung this on me, and perfected the fit a bit more. Then the suit was sewn together properly and delivered. This was all done in-house on location. It was also shockingly expensive. And yes, it's sublime. Here at Rocky's, there was the measurement, and then the finished suit was delivered - no fittings in between. I tried on the finished suit, and Danish marked up a few adjustments. A tailor made the adjustments and I picked up the suit two days later. Now, the traditional Saville Row bespoke method is very labor intensive, very expensive, and results in utter perfection. If I had $5,000.00+ to spend on every one of my suits, I'd head off to Gieves & Hawkes. It's a great way to go. If you have that kind of money, by all means, there's nothing like it. But I don't. This way is very close - easily 90% or better of the perfection at 20% or less of the price. It is not quite the absolute perfection of a full-on bespoke house-made suit, but it is far, and I mean far, better than any suit you have ever worn unless you've spent thousands on bespoke. All the fabrics here at Rocky's are the very same as those available anywhere in the world. I got all the details I like - working buttonholes on the sleeves of my jacket, ticket pockets, my name embroidered inside the suit, embroidered monograms on my shirts, my choice of cut, style, fabric, lining, buttons, collars, cuffs, everything, and it fits beautifully - all for prices that are comparable with run-of-the-mill off the rack stuff from a department store. I'm very happy with my Rocky's clothing, and I will absolutely be back for more. That Rocky can deliver the quality he delivers at the prices he charges is brilliant. Gentlemen, there is no reason ever, ever, to buy a suit at a department store ever again. And really, unless you're just rolling in money, there's no reason to go to Saville Row, either. Rocky's is the way to go! You just can't go wrong here. The staff are very service-oriented, and they pay a lot of attention to detail - which is what great clothing is all about.
