I use this hardware store because it's close by and I'm not concerned about prices because I'm usually working on a project and in a rush. My only complaint is the people at register seem like it's their first day on the job every day. They constantly answer phones, discuss problems with colleagues while the customer is standing there ready to purchase something. I'm sorry but the customer with an item in one hand and credit card in other is more important than someone on the other end of the phone. read more

The worse! on 8/27 I made a online purchase to be pick up at store. when I got the e-mail telling me that the order was ready for pick up 8/31. I went to store 9/04 and the cashier with attitude send me to the back to see another lady, this other lady was nice but after 35 minutes looking for my order, finds our that she can't find it. today 9/19 I called costumer service and they inform me that they don't carry that item!!! So much for the little guy.. I make it a point to buy from locally owned small businesses, and avoid the corporate box stores. With an impending hurricane, I needed some batteries for my portable lantern; unsure of what type of batteries I required "D" or "C" I intend to purchase both and return the one which did not fit. The store only had "D" batteries, so I took those and had my wife search for "C" batteries at another retailer on her way home. Upon checkout, I asked the cashier if the batteries could be returned since I wasn't sure of the size and he assured me they could, as long as they were within a 30-day period. Fast forward to today, and I attempted to return the batteries only to be told by the staff that I could not return them because they are considered "hurricane items." I exclaimed that I would never shop there again as a result of this announcement. The cashier stated "there are signs everywhere." So if you are like me, and inclined to help small businesses, pass over Rocky's Ace Hardware, or you just might get caught in one of their small business return policy traps. I am out $27.57, and they are out a customer for life. read more

IMO the worst thing a business can do is ignore customers who are in the store, wanting to buy a product, to have a long, leisurely, telephone conversation with a potential customer who may not buy anything, or to have three other employees building display, make eye contact, but not say a word and also ignore this customer. I hate to write this. I was so excited to move to an area where there is a small town store, just around the corner. I am a true believer in small business and would prefer every time to shop local than from a corporation. I will not be returning to Rocky's Ace. Prior to today- Every experience I have had has been good, staff is tremendously helpful, but often times I would find they do not have everything that I need and needed to piggy back my trip with a run to Home Depot. I ripped the pull cord right from the fan. From experience, I called ACE to see if they had what I needed, they did, and the guy I spoke told me to cut the wires on the controller as close as possible to the controller and bring in the piece to get a replacement. So coming from the pro's that know, I did. The electrician on staff made me feel so small and stupid- as I followed the instructions they gave me. I needed to smash the controller to take the wires apart. He was helpful in telling me that I would need a soldering iron, or an electrician (but as a woman I would need an electrician to hang the fan anyways), or a new fan to correct the error that I was told to from their staff. He showed me to the new fans, yet ACE doesn't stock flush mount fans, and thus I would need to go to Home Depot. While I adore the helpful staff, I am not a fan of being made to feel like I am incompetent. I am also not a fan of being told incorrect information that they made no attempt to reconcile with me, other than a less than compassionate "Sorry" In the future, I will be driving past ACE, and spending my home improvement dollars at Home Depot. Seems I always find my self there after ACE anyways. read more

Look out big box stores, I found a reason to shop for hardware locally again! These folks are soooo nice and knowledgeable. You can't walk a few feet without being asked if you need help. Unbelievably, their prices are lower than Home Depot etc. An example is having a key made up for $2.00 vs $5 at Home depot. Their selection is excellant as well as it is a large store! Rocky's Ace in Tequesta has rudest employees!! I ordered items for curbside pickup. When I arrived I had to call three times because I kept getting hung up on. Janet the rude clerk who finally answered the phone said someone will bring the items out. After waiting 10 minutes the extremely rude Mike brought them out in his hand, I asked him to please put them in a bag. His response was it's curbside pickup and proceeded to THROW THE ITEMS ON THE CURB!!. Although home depot is closer to my house, I shop at Rocky's to support the local merchant. I will never shop there again!! read more

An old school Ace that is chock for of stuff that you need.

Great hardware if know exactly what you want and where it is located. DON'T go there when the manager, Brian is NOT there. It is terribly disorganized. The employees will also agree with that assessment. I have witnessed the checkout counter backed up with 8-10 customers waiting for service and the person at the register begging for backup over and over with no results. The place runs well when Brian is there, but not when he isn't. read more

Screen repairs. If you need anything else but screen repairs, this is the place. As far as screen repairs please go anyplace else .. you will wait for at least two months just for repairs. Apparently the guy who works on them only works part time and the manager has him doing other things while he is there. So not his fault. read more

I hate to leave a bad review, I've experienced terrible service at this ACE location before, and now it went from bad to awful. Enough so that I'm taking time to write this review. Due to Hurricane Dorian, the store was closed for Labor Day and didn't open until the following Wednesday. I've been waiting for a good sale on a new grill for the last month. I spent days scouring Ads for good deals. I saw that Rocky's ACE Hardware had a Labor Day sale on Traeger Grills. The grill its self wasn't on sale, but the sale read "Get These For Free when you buy any Traeger grill" it had a cover, bag of pellets and bbq rub. I was so excited. A good deal even though the grill is over $1200. Finally, on Wednesday they answered the phone and confirmed they had the grill I wanted. I asked if they would honor Labor Day Sales since they were closed for the days the sale was active. She said, "of course."  1st of all I've had bad customer service here in the past, but I learned to not ask for help or go for anything that I might have questions about.  2nd when I walked in, I found one person at the register and two separate groups of 3+ employees huddled and complaining about something. I asked one employee where the grill was, and she said, "I don't know. All I know is that we have two truckloads of deliveries and nowhere to put it". Then she just walked away. When I got tired of standing around the grills with no service, I approached one of the groups and asked if someone could get the grill for me. They couldn't have been more annoyed that interrupted them despite standing there for about a minute quietly waiting for them to finish their conversation.  After getting the grill, I chose the pellets, cover, and bbq rub.  They made me wait for someone to ring it up for about 10 minutes. Then Janet told me that they would only give me one of the items and I had to choose. When I said that's not what the Ad said, I looked behind me where it was taped to the grill, and the Ad was gone. I asked Janet where it went, and she said she didn't know. I saw another employee with it in her hand, walking away. I told Janet, "there it is." She pretended not to see her or the ad. I called out and asked her to bring it to me. They refused. It was like I was a 4th-grade teacher trying to get a love note from a kid embarrassed to have it read in class. I'm surprised Janet didn't eat it to hide it from me.  After she swore that the ad DID NOT say that all three items were included, she showed me the Ad for proof. I read it to her and pointed out the words, "Get THESE free." I asked to speak with a manager because she started getting hostile. She responded with, "You know what? I won't honor the Ad at all since the sale ended on the 2nd." and ripped the Ad up in my face. Keep in mind the store had been closed for four days and this was about 4 hours after they opened. I also called an hour before going there to confirm they would honor the deal. At first, they did not argue that the sale was expired; they asserted that I read it wrong. I asked for her name about four times, and she just yelled across the store to call her manager. Finally, she told me her name, Janet. Well, Janet. You turned what should have been an exciting day into a terrible day. I've never spent even half this much on a grill before. It was a huge purchase for me as well as an anniversary gift from my wife. I am certainly glad I did not buy it at Rocky's ACE Hardware in Tequesta. I will never spend another penny there again. Even know it's right next to 2 of my biggest commercial accounts. read more

BUYER BEWARE: IF YOU NEED A KEY FOB AND IT HAS TO BE SPECIAL ORDERED FOR YOU--THAN DON'T DO IT! I was extremely disappointed with their dishonesty. They lied to me about when they placed my order for a new car key. I was originally told that it would take 2-3 business days for them to get the key when I came into the store and placed my order. I called six days later and was told by one person that the order was placed the previous day. Then the manager on duty informed me that it was placed that day which I called (six days later). It's hard to trust an organization when you receive three different answers from three different people. Then I was told that they can't place the special orders for keys until they have a certain amount, yet they had no trouble taking my money and never said anything about a possible delay in ordering my key when I originally placed my order in person. As a matter of fact, they had trouble locating my order at first and even had the wrong receipt attached to the order when I called over the phone. They had someone else's receipt for paint attached to my key order! The manager on duty (Janet) was not apologetic at all, and she said that I would have to come into the store for my refund. I don't live close by so it's not exactly convenient, and I'm still upset that they lied to me. I went to this store because they could make a copy of the key fob for our new car, and the Ace store near me can't do the programming (at least not yet according to the employee I spoke to over the phone). Anyway, this woman (Janet) called me back later that same night and left a voicemail saying that I could do the refund over the phone but that she was leaving soon. By the time I called back, she was already gone for the night. The bitter irony is that I expected to get good service at a store like this in comparison to Home Depot or Lowes. It was my first (and last time) that I'll ever go to this store. I will make sure that I let all of my friends know how bad the service is at this store. Ace is also much more expensive than the big box stores like HD or Lowes and has awful service. That is not a winning combination. As a teacher, I stress the importance on my students that they should always be truthful. Obviously the employees here don't care. My dad always said that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. The situation I referred to happened last week. Do you think that the real manager ever picked up the phone to call me? Nope, and he probably doesn't care either. My husband and I purchased supplies for a hurricane/natural disaster approaching our area. A week later we went to return the unused/ opened goods with receipt in hand and were told that they would not take back this merchandise. We were in the store twice and were not made aware of this policy, is it not on their website, it was not on the receipt and there were no obvious signs in the store. We would have never purchased these items had we known that we could not take them back. We were in a state of emergency and Rockys Ace Hardware took advantage of us and our community by making money during these stressful times. They can obviously re-sell this merchandise but choose not to. Shame on you Rockys Ace Hardware! read more

Super quality local hardware store; excellent inventory of hardware and paint, also a lot of auto supplies. Strong selection of Craftsman tools. Good pet section. Store is always clean and never crowded. Much faster than going to Home Depot; huge time saver if you live in the neighborhood. Very friendly and helpful staff and management. Never a long wait to check out; if there is a line they always open another cash register. If you register for the Ace rewards card they keep all your receipts on file which makes returns super simple. My dog loves Rocky's! They are dog friendly as long as your K9 is well behaved. They even have dog treats on hand. Ruth is the chief dog lover but everyone is super nice to my pup. read more

Good place if you need something quick and close by. Same quality stuff as, but more expensive than, the Home Despot. So.... If I need something quick and am willing to pay more to avoid the drive, I go here. If I have a list I go to the big guys. Simple as that. Got a great new Milwaukee hand truck but customer service was disappointing. I go to Ace because it's convenient and usually quick because at most Aces, employees are standing ready to help you find what you want. When I asked an employee working behind the paint desk where hand trucks are, he said, "I think aisle 27 but I'll make sure". I looked and did not find them. So I walked the store looking. I found a young blonde lady on a step stool in one of the aisles checking inventory. Since my original guy had not followed up with me, I asked her where hand trucks were located. Her response was, "Didn't Alex just tell you where they are?" I indicated that he did but that I did not find them there. I asked if they are in a box. She said that she thought they were in a box, not assembled. She continued doing what she was doing rather than help me look. Sure enough, when I returned to aisle 27, the hand truck was up on an elevated shelf where I had not looked. It was fully assembled and I believe the only one in the store. They acted like they were doing me a favor. Amazing that Home Depot had this issue several years ago at which time the CEO went public apologizing for the poor customer service in his stores. That changed and now Home Depot is s high flying stock. I hope employees at Rocky's figure out that it is customers like me that are the reason they have a job. Very disappointed! read more
