The restaurant has a ton of seating and the walls are nicely decorated. I would say maybe add another mural on the other side because the one wall that has it, is beautiful! They have all these great hot sauces at the counter, make sure you try them all! My fave was the scotch bonnet pepper sauce. Spicy and a tiny sweet. We ordered two beers on draft, the jerk chicken, curry goat with a side of mac and dumplings. The dumplings are almost donut hole type bites with a hint of sweetness. It goes so well with the curry! The goat curry was interestingly delicious. I didn't think I would like goat - but here I am. It was very VERY good, just look out for all the little bones. The jerk chicken was flavorful and tasty and the side of mac n cheese was the perfect blend of noodles, cheese and spices with the meats. I also want to thank them for the delicious Jamaican patty filled with beef that was given to us. It was very good and the puff pastry was baked to perfection! It was our first time trying this restaurant. I got the jerk chicken and babe had the curry goat. Both of our meals were fantastic! This off the beaten path spot serves legit jerk chicken seasoned with Walkerswood. The food was excellent. The service was excellent. We had the jerk chicken with rice and peas, plantain, cabbage and carrots. Washed it down and put out some of the flames with pineapple "sea-moss" and a "sof drink." Flavor explosion! I'm so glad I stumbled across this place. It's not exactly hidden, but it doesn't scream at you when you drive by either. The food though... it speaks for itself! Fiancée and I have been talking about trying this place since they first opened; but never got around to it until the other night! started taking dance lessons down the street and we wanted to stop by and bring home some food. The wait time wasn't too bad, but also didn't seem like they were very busy when we got there. The hostess was nice and answered any questions we had about the menu. Whenever we go to a Jamaican place, I always have to try their oxtail, so I got that with the rice and peas. It was super delicious. They did not skimp on the oxtail like some places do and I had plenty of meat and sauce to eat with my rice and peas. My fiancée ordered the jerk chicken, which was also well portioned, and she said it was delicious, but her favorite thing she got was the Mac pie. The festival was good too, nice that it came in little chunks- I know some places just give you one bit piece. Lastly we tried both of the patties- both were very good and had a good amount of flavor and spice, but the beef one slightly edged out the chicken. Overall I definitely recommend checking out Rockyaad if you're craving some super good Jamaican food in the area. Went a bit before five. Food came out hot. Surprised how moist the jerk chicken was. Jerk chicken came with spiciness warning but I liked it, the ginger in the sorrel juice might've been spicier. I was so happy to know there is a Jamaican food spot in Carmichael and just a few blocks from me. I enter and waited a few mins before being greeted or even acknowledged for that matter. While waiting I looked at the menu and decided on the oxtail dinner with a side of cabbage and carrot and rice and peas. I also ordered fried Plantains. My order was to go. The inside is nice size with ample seating there is no outdoor seating for those I enjoy outdoor seating. I get home and I'm so excited about my food I tried the rice and peas first. Ummmm... where's the seasoning it had no flavor I think try to cabbage and carrot it looked this the pre packaged stuff you make coleslaw with, that too has no flavor but after putting hot sauce on it it was just okay. Now to the oxtails I had so much hope for them but those too had no flavor like did the chef forget the seasonings?? Did I come on an off day? I have no clue, but the food was not good at all except for the fried Plantains. The prices are good though but that's about it. First time here and I can't tell you how happy I am that I gave this place a try! I used to go to another Jamaican place off el Camino but overtime their service and food started to decline. I decided to find a new Jamaican hot spot and I believe I found it ! The space is huge and clean ! The service is great and definitely worth the wait. So happy I finally got a chance to visit Rockyaad after reading Rich L's gushing review. I opted for take out since I was on my way home from work, but I would love to sit down and eat next time. The inside it self has lots of tables and high tops, very spacious, a bit barebones in decor. Young lady attending the front was helpful and nice. She answered my questions on food I wasn't familiar with. The Chef also came to talk and serve customers. She was very conscientious and wants you to be happy with the food. She checked to make sure you were informed about the progress of your food. The starter I ordered was the Plantain Cups which were addictively delicious. I could've eaten two servings for myself. The cod and ackee/veg mix tasted amazing. My husband loved it so much he immediately called his mom about it. Stew chicken was flavorful and delicious. Tender chicken meat almost fall off the bone. My side orders were rice & beans and tostones. The rice had a nice coconut flavor and was not mushy or overcooked. I ordered both beef and chicken patties. Beef patty was perfect in flavor and filling texture. The crust was very dry and flaky, almost like a cracker. I let it cool down in the fridge a bit, then reheated in the paper bag to steam the crust. It became a softer just the way I like it (this is just my preference so you may like yours as is!) I really wanted to love this place but I didn't. The jerk chicken did not taste authentic. It felt more like barbecue sauce with added spices. The strange thing is you can't smell any food being cooked or prepared at this restaurant like you typically do at most Jamaican restaurants, so I'm not sure if they're cooking offsite and assembling or what. Either way, the food wasn't very good. Customer service was alright. After just one visit, this is one of my top three Jamaican restaurants in northern California. Greeted with a very warm welcome, I sat there just admiring the great work done on the interior. The rice and peas was freshly made with sprigs of thyme. I also got the jerk chicken with rice and peas, and fried plantains. The jerk chicken was lightly spiced and tender, very flavorful. It also came with a jerk sauce for the chicken. Fried plantain was fried well, lightly crispy and tender inside. During dinner service the owner, Keneisha, brought over a ginger carrot juice to try, it was absolutely perfect. A nicely refreshing drink. Some great notes about the restaurant... yes they make their jerk sauce and the jerk rub comes from Jamaica. The curry blend is made by her grandmother. Folks, its pretty authentic! I would definitely suggest giving Rockyaad a try... there aren't many authentic Jamaican restaurants in the area, so go try it... you just might like it. The flavor on the curry chicken was really tasty, my daughter and granddaughter both thought the jerk chicken was "fire", and my daughter also said the Oxtails are "real".. however the fried chicken was a little too sweet for our liking. Rockyaad Jamaican Restaurant on 7609 Fair Oaks Blvd is worth every penny! Great customer service, they read my notes on my online order and called to let me know what they could and couldn't accommodate right away. Greeted me when I walked in. Great seating available, huge booths, nice music playing and great selection of drinks available. Jerk Chicken was so bleeping moist and fall of the bone, this white boy was in love after the first bite. Rice and beans was solid, and the cabbage and carrots was a nice pallet cleanser from the intense heat and spices of the Jerk Chicken. If you cannot handle spice, this isn't for you lol my lips and face were on fire but it was so worth it. My wife got the Ox Tails and she said they were succulent, I gave them a taste and they had a nice bold flavor. Beef patties had such an intense crunch, maybe phyllo dough?!? But the flavor was out of this world, texture was on point. I have not had a chance to dine in at this facility yet but have had three pick-up experiences. The ambiance is inviting with an upbeat yet relaxing vibe. It's still fairly new and they seem to sellout of items rather quickly. I still haven't had the Oxtails yet. 4/5 The Ital Soup is delicious 5/5 The Jerk chicken is just ok to me, but my friend loved it 3/5 The service is friendly they even have my toddler a complimentary chicken curry and drink when she was crying from being tired and agitated. I ended up having to eat it because it was a tad spicy for her & Got hooked. 5/5 My only complaint is they continue to get the takeout orders wrong. Twice they have failed to give the cabbage ordered to include a double cabbage order. Then they gave a beef curry instead of a chicken curry, and most recently they had very little filling in the curry. It's a bit pricey to have so many continuous mixups without compensation. 2/5 I will return when I'm able to dine in to compare experiences. Will update when I do. read more

Got for takeout last night. I wasn't too impressed in comparison to similar cuisine. And the prices, to me, are a bit too high. I ordered the two item combos. Oxtails were ok...not super meaty and the flavor was more in the sauce than infused. Fried chicken was disappointing...one meaty tender and not so meaty thigh and wing. Flavor was ok but better dipped in the jerk sauce. Jerk chicken was really good. Jerk pork was good too but received a big bone shank with not too much meat and another chunk that was all fat...other chunks were real good. For the sides, got sweet plantains and the rice with peas. They loaded the rice which was really good...dumped the jerk sauce on that too. Plantains were good and gave a good amount. Overall, good and filling, just a bit overpriced at $36 per combo. Might be better at $28 to $30 per. read more

I stopped in and asked for the oxtail but they were out, not surprisingly at 8:30 pm. They were out of oxtail and chicken curry. I went to my next standard and asked for the jerk chicken. I noted that the tables had Juliana's pepper sauces and I saw a bottle of Grace hot sauce. I asked for a beef patty, but did not want to wait 20minutes for a new batch. I also noticed that they had a spinach patty too. The jerk chicken plate came with two sides so I chose rice and beans and sweet plantain. I got the dark meat chicken and it came with a side of jerk sauce. The jerk chicken did not disappoint and I like that the sauce was the jerk sauce and not some candy sweet sauce. My rice and beans could have used a little more seasoning but overall I had a great meal. The plantains had nice crispy edges and were cooked to perfection. read more
