Our kiddo started climbing at Rocknasium when she was 4 in the Kids Class on weekends. We absolutely love it! The staff and kids' coaches are super positive and engaging while also instilling safe climbing habits. We recently had an amazing experience with one of their weekend/youth program coaches. Thanks for being such a positive environment for youth in Davis and helping our kiddo love rock climbing.

Family fun!! This was my first time climbing. I must say it's fun and challenging. My children are 9 and 4years old so I used the auto ropes. We climbed for hour and 30 before my youngest tapped out and wanted to have lunch. We will be back because we had blast. Great service

Great gym, but too many kids.

Great staff, good music, fun routes, and relatively cheap membership. Took away two stars due to the amount of young children that swarm the gym: 1) Want to use the gym during the summer time? Good luck, because they close half the gym for their kid summer camp. 2) Want to use the gym during the weekend mornings? Good luck, because they have birthday parties that usually end up with kids running around everywhere. 3) Avoid weekends and summer days? Good luck, parents bring children here and treat it like Chuck E. Cheese, letting them run free. Even though children are supposed to be supervised, they rarely are, leading to frustrating/dangerous situations. 4) Want to just hangboard or do some strength exercises? Good luck, you'll likely be surrounded by screaming kids who are being rappelled over the boulder overhang (which is closed for members, kids only!). I love this place, but it's frustrating having only half the gym available while being a monthly paid member.

Even after many, many years of being in business, Rocknasium continues to stay true to its roots: awesome climbing routes, friendly staff and a super fun environment for all ages. It's a must-stop destination in Davis!

Full first-timer tour, big smiles, "can't wait to have you back" energy, and the front desk deserves its own standing ovation because wow... above and beyond. I love a studio that refuses to stay in its lane. Yoga, cycle, Pilates, strength, personal training, plus a dangerously cute retail section. I literally came back later just to shop and walked out with a full set (on sale... say less). Even the Tiem cycle shoes were calling my name. Did a triple this morning because apparently I like to test my life choices. Warm mat Pilates (hit around 90°) was solid, but give me darker lighting, more intensity, slower burn... really take me out. Cycle was good, just needed to be louder with more punch. Strength class wrapped it up nicely. Overall, strong lineup--but if I'm doing three back-to-back, I expect to leave as a ghost, and I was still very much alive. Vibes? Good... friendly, welcoming, easy to settle into. Only downside... they ghosted ClassPass, which is a bummer for travelers or commitment-phobes like me. Drop-ins are $30 or 3 for $49, so yeah... your wallet will feel that. And no first class free for locals... bold of them to skip the "try me before you buy me" era.

The gym is unique in terms of the layout and structure, however, that does not compensate for the neglect that the owners have with the place. The fans are very high powered, but you can't really feel the air due to lack of cleaning and the amount of dust that has accumulated from the months or years of not cleaning them. Toilets are consistently breaking so there are times where there will be one stall available for a full gym and takes almost 2 weeks to fix at a time. paper towels in the bathroom have always been lacking as well. The roof is also caving in due to water leaks in the cardio room, which is very hazardous and the consistently have to move machines around to avoid someone getting seriously injured. Their yoga mats look like they have never been changed before and they are the point where they mostly torn and disgusting. Overall, for the price, you are paying for a gym that is neglected by owners who refused to keep up and do minimum work in order to have as much as possible I would highly not recommend this gym to anyone whatsoever. My son joined in the summer of 2025, right after graduating high school, to strength train before college tryouts. He could not say enough about it, and recommended it to us. I wondered how an 18 year old and his parents could both love the same gym, but tried it anyway. I had never really used barbells or done CrossFit when I joined, although I have always been generally active. Kirsten and Matt have created a special, welcoming, supportive community. All the coaches were amazing, and Lisa and Ashley in particular were incredibly helpful to me - their patience and knowledge inspired confidence that I could continue to improve, and showed me that I actually wanted to. As the year went on, I found myself looking forward to going to the gym - something I have never felt before. We are moving out of the area, and I never would have thought I would be sad to leave a gym, but I truly am. I hope to visit when we are back, and I am grateful for everything the CFD community has done for me this year.

I joined this Pure Barre Davis studio a few months ago after the grand re-opening under new…read moremanagement. My experience so far has been incredibly positive- Pros: 1. There are three types of regular classes available on a weekly basis- Classic, Reform, and Empower with consistent times and rotation between formats and instructors. Classic is the most straightforward and best for all levels of fitness. Reform adds an extra level of challenge with stretchy bands and these sliders that I think are so much fun to use (this one is my personal favorite). Empower adds arm and ankle weights, and a platform. I love each type of class I've taken and find each meets my fitness goals. I'm currently training to run my first half marathon and the cross training with Pure Barre has helped me increase my running pace and prevent old injuries from flaring up. 2. The quality of classes is consistent between instructors (though each has her own style) so I know what to expect. I'm able to go to the 6am class before work and know I will get a great workout. The intentional rotation keeps everything fresh. 3. The app makes it really easy to review the weekly schedule and book my preferred classes ahead of time for the week. I find this to be the extra motivation I need to stay consistent with my workout schedule. With 3 small children and a full time job, this is exactly what I need to stay on track. 4. There are monthly challenges to participate in to earn prizes, I find this to be both fun and motivational. Example- this month is BINGO, so each person can earn prizes for doing a certain number of push-ups, taking certain classes, holding a 90 second plank, etc. It's inspiring me to step outside of my comfort zone and try new things. 5. The new owners are three women from Davis collaborating with other Davis small businesses to intentionally support and build the community. They are constantly establishing new partnerships which then offer Pure Barre members discounts as well as opportunities to attend cool special events. I attended the pop-up class at Great Bear recently and found it so refreshing to take an outdoor class complimented afterward by a well-earned glass of wine shared in good company. 6. The pricing is competitive with surrounding and similar businesses. For the amount of classes events I like to attend I find the unlimited membership to be the best cost savings. When I first joined I tried the 1x per week plan, but I felt so great after every class I upgraded to unlimited right away. They do run sign up specials on top of the already very reasonable price if you're looking for a deal or are a student. 7. I've found the owners to have a very customer service oriented mindset, so for example, when I was out with Covid there was no trouble freezing my account. 8. The merchandise in the front of the store is well priced and high quality. I found some brand name items for less than I can get them online. They also have some unique products like special hairbands and arm weights I had never tried before, but now I'm hooked! 9. The studio is clean and well maintained-an absolute must these days! Cons/Opportunities- 1. I know staffing has been a challenge. That being said, they're very thoughtful with their scheduling, so for me there is always a class available during the hours I want to work out. I'm looking forward to them adding even more classes to the schedule. I'm looking forward to dropping in any time I feel like getting a workout in or to go shopping for new workout clothes any time. In summary, I highly recommend this gym to anyone in the Davis area looking to improve their fitness while supporting a locally owned small business. I would also recommend a visit to Pure Barre Davis to anyone from out of town looking for a unique and community oriented fitness experience.

Booking through ClassPass was easy, and they offer a free first class for locals. Cute retail moment too, just pricey. I took a Classic class and yeah, it works all those tiny muscles you forget exist, but I was slipping around even in grippy socks (they do sell a double-sided grip pair I've never seen before...lowkey wish I grabbed them). The tubing band situation wasn't my favorite either, it dug in and felt more distracting than helpful. Everyone was kind and the studio runs tight, but the vibe just didn't land for me. The room was freezing, the music felt quiet, and I kept wanting more energy, more heat, more of that push where you walk out drenched. This felt like I could go straight to brunch after, full face still intact, which is not usually my workout goal. I can see this being a great add-on to a routine, just not my main thing. Solid 4 stars because they really do everything right... I just wanted a little more fire.
