Best gym and strength training I've ever been to. I can't say enough good things about the staff.

Mr. Rodness has a teaching style that really connects with kids. He manages to balance discipline and encouragement in a way that keeps students motivated. What we appreciate most is that it is not just a martial arts school. The classes consistently reinforced focus, perseverance, accountability, and respect. Those lessons have carried over into school and every day life for our son. If you're looking for a place that develops confidence and character in addition to excellent martial arts skills, this is a fantastic environment. We're grateful to be part of the program and highly recommend it.

We highly recommend Rodness Martial Arts Center! My husband and I recently had our 8 year-old…read moredaughter start the Junior taekwondo (white to blue belt) class to get experience in martial arts. She not only loves the classes, her skills improve with every thoughtfully-planned lesson and we feel that she is becoming both stronger and more confident over time. Steve Rodness obviously has an extensive knowledge of martial arts and is skilled at connecting with children, welcoming each student warmly while also being firm enough to control a large class. Our younger daughter will join his classes soon as well. Specific class details can be found in other reviews, so I wanted to mention that my husband and I put a lot of thought into selecting a dojo/dojang here in Davis. While we both have experience in different Japanese martial art styles, we were specifically looking for martial arts taught with a connection to culture and character development along with a friendly and supportive community. In addition to physical techniques, Steve Rodness at RMAC emphasizes guiding principles that are essential not only for martial arts as self-defense and a physical art form, but for living life as a strong and dedicated human being. We're lucky to have found such a positive place for our family.

My experience here was brief but it left a bad taste in my mouth…read more I had some surgery and needed a supportive environment to help me get back in shape. I had heard Kaia was a great place for women of all she's and fitness levels. It was close to my house. Perfect! I stopped by at a time when there were no classes going on. There was one instructor there and she barely made eye contact with me when I entered. It was clear throughout our exchange that she was really not interested in answering my questions. She kept referring me to the website. It was almost as though I had annoyed her by coming in and checking it out. To be perfectly honest, I was pretty disappointed. It was pretty clear that if this was going to be my instructor, I would not get the encouragement I would need. Sadly, I decided I wasn't going to come back.

In the past two years I tried almost every gym in Davis (I went as far as Natomas) but I stopped looking for anything else after my first day at Kaia. They have all kinds of classes, and instructors help you modify each exercise as needed. Nobody cares how you look, what you are wearing and your fitness level. This is a group of women of all ages who come to challenge themselves (whatever level of fitness they are at) and want to enjoy their hour of exercise. Everyone was very engaging from day one at Kaia. This is so refreshing! I made real friends. This is an amazing place, with wonderful instructors and owners.

The cycling class was enjoyable but my only downside was the comfort of the seats since I was a newbie I couldn't focus on the workout because my butt was literally numb from the pain of the seat lol, my classmates helped me by showing the seat pads i was still in pain but I tried to push through as much as I could . The Real Ryder bikes were something else! I'd done plenty of spin classes before, but these bikes gave me a workout I hadn't felt before. The downside of no longer living in Stockton is not being a regular here, but when I'm home for the holidays or other occasions, I try to make a point of doing a class or two. I definitely recommend SWEAT! Check them out, sweat, and feel good about supporting local businesses in Stockton :)

We take classes together and are both challenged and sweat our a$$es off. Don't let lack of fitness or strength be an excuse not to try this place. 3. Coach Rock is super nice, knows what he's talking about and has been incredibly responsive and helpful in getting us set up with our free week trial + membership. He's passionate about what he does and has a super positive/motivational attitude + somehow makes you feel comfortable going outside of your comfort zone. 4. I have to say out of all the gyms I've been to: FBBC, UFC, Planet Fitness, The Camp, and many other local family owned gyms, Concord fitness boot camp aka Fit Body Boot Camp concord has been the absolute best! I lost weight but the change was not just in appearance. I actually felt stronger and could notice the difference in my strength. My energy and endurance was like my teen days. The crazy part is appearance wise this gym has been the least impressive. But Virgil makes the small space functional and you really don't need much more than this. When I showed up for my first trial the location made me hesitant. Virgil's customer service was great and he made me feel welcomed. The other members were friendly and there were all ages and body types. I stayed and loved it. Everyone was extremely helpful and motivating. They all push you to finish your reps, to keep moving and not quit, and if you struggle they make you feel okay with modifying while teaching you ways to work on it until you can one day do what you're struggling with. It was hard but it seemed like within days my body learned how to handle doing sit ups and push ups. Another major part is nutrition. Virgil helped me with a shopping list and meal ideas. He is respectful but also doesn't sugar coat. With each weigh in he reminded me what I needed to do to stay on track. I also learned how to count calories. If I still lived in the area I would see about joining again. If I didn't give it 5 stars it is solely because of the cost. When I went it cost around by $300/month. Is it worth it? Yes. Is it affordable and feasible? No. I could not keep up going there as it was too much for my budget. Pictures for comparison of cheeks and chin when I first started in March to September

With reassurance from the owner (whose phone number was on Google), it was indeed open for business, I was excited to get moving for my Friday workout. I was introduced to the owner and other people who showed up for the class and I could tell they were regulars. The place looked pretty legit as you know I love legit gyms :-) I was asked to disinfect the bottom of my shoes as street shoes aren't allowed on the floor, since we laid on them for floor workouts. That made me feel better because I ain't tryna rest my head on a floor where people before me don't know where to walk sometimes and you don't know where they come from ahem, SF CITY STREETS!!! This was my first Bootcamp class in a long while so I was pretty thankful that Virgil (owner and trainer) allowed me to modify my workouts. It was a damn good sweat and I had great energy the rest of the day.
