Nothing but great things to say about the doctors and technicians. The office staff is abysmal however. They used to have awesome pladies working there, now not so much. The office manager Maryann is rude and if you really get on her bad side watch out because she is downright abusive. Sad to say I like the doctors but if this is the kind of people they employ you're better off going elsewhere. Looking at other reviews, it's obvious I am not the only one that has had a bad experience with her. It's almost like she's deliberately trying to give the practice a bad name. read more

The waiting rooms had a few chairs and it was obvious they were cleaning and practicing social distancing. My 2 teenagers were getting exams, one for the first time The technician was wonderful and explained each test to my teens before she perfomed the test. I recently went for an eye exam after three years. I couldn't see my regular doctor, Dr. Chen, but I got an appointment right away (the following day) with Dr. Kupferberg, the optician. She was very kind, courteous and answered any questions and concerns I had. She made me feel very comfortable, and I have no qualms about seeing her, again, if I had to. The front desk people were very kind, and there was another person that greeted you..I think her name was Jessica..who couldn't have been more sweet and accommodating. She constantly checked with me when I was registering with the kiosk to make sure things were going smoothly and that I had no problems. She was a "doll", as was the young man who was the optician assistant/technician. I think his name was Ronald. He was very sweet. The only reason why I'm giving four stars is because they don't have an optical boutique in the Garnerville area (I don't drive, and getting to West Nyack is a pain), and the "discount" they offered on getting glasses is just $75 off. For someone with a very high prescription who spent nearly $700 on my glasses 3 years ago, this doesn't cut it.. it's a complete joke..so I'm gonna wind up going back to the optical place in Pomona because it's more local and the pricing is probably about the same. They also don't provide you with your PD, which I'd REALLY like to have because if I can order computer glasses online, it would save me a ton of money.. but I've no doubt that eye doctors would discourage that. Otherwise, I like the place, it's convenient, and I've been going there for many years. Recommended. Edited 4/6/21: Received an email from Nextmd regarding a billing statement through Rockland Eye. Have to log into Nextmd to see it. I always have a problem getting into that site, and when I finally do, can never retrieve the information. I was concerned that I owed money because I received an EOB saying such. Someone from the office called me back and clarified things for me, saying that there was no balance due. While I'm grateful, the issue regarding my problems accessing Nextmd were never resolved, and the person who called was rather rude. She was very no-nonsense, and talked over me as I was trying to explain what the EOB said. She had a "tough" attitude. I wish people who dealt with the public on the phone or in person were nicer, and any business should know better than to hire front-office staff/customer service people with an attitude. I dropped a star due to this experience and the Nextmd issue never being resolved. read more

Highly Recommend! Our family has seen Dr Leen & Dr Weiss. Both are professional & friendly. Dr Leen gives each child a detailed exam, explaining the diagnosis. Questions never irritate him & he explains any medical jargon I might not understand. I've never felt rushed out the door. Dr Weiss also did a great job explaining my eye condition. We've had appointments in both the Garnerville (smaller, more intimate office) & the West Nyack location (newer office w/ better parking). The office staff has kindly worked with us through several insurance changes. Covid rules have reduced the # of chairs in waiting room & caused more stress for staff, but they are always kind & considerate. We have been seeing these Dr's for over 15 years - and many of the same office staff are still there! That tells me the office is as positive for the staff as it is for patients. Over the years, I'd say our average wait time was 15 minutes - understanding every Dr has occasional emergencies that put him behind. Twice, the office has squeezed one of my children in for a medical emergency (metal flakes in the eye; accidental chemical exposure). One happened during office hours. They took responsibility for their patient & didn't just pass us off to a hospital ER because they were "booked". For the after-hours emergency, we did go to the ER, but the Dr asked us to come in first thing the next day so he could follow up. Although neither caused any permanent damage, I appreciated how seriously they took my children's vision. Lastly, I appreciate how up-to-date this team of doctors has stayed with their equipment. The auto-refractor they use today is much better than the one at our fist visit. At our last visit, I was surprised by the new phoropter (digital refractor). (No I'm not a medical person, but thanks to the internet, I looked up the equipment's name!) Because the lenses changes faster (digitally instead of manually) the child could compare the two views easier. I felt like it was a more "accurate" exam because the child didn't have to remember the previous image for as long before giving his decision as to which view was clearer. When the child asked to see the previous view, it was just the touch of a key for the view to instantly snap back. There is nothing 'antiquated' about this established, trustworthy practice! At the end of the day, all I can say is that Rockland Eye Physicians has given our family's vision excellent care for 15 years. I can't imagine going anywhere else. read more

After being a patient for years here mostly at the Garnerville office, I will not return as I see the practice declining every time I go. Making an appointment always meant you would be seen around that time but the last few times we visited, the wait was extra long. Appointment was at 2:50pm, we didn't get called in until 3:41pm. Finally left office around 5pm. I also learned that if someone in their office makes a mistake, they will not try to help you but will backtrack and try to cover themselves. My son and I were basically called liars by the office manager and I had a prescription yanked from my hand when I questioned a fee. Dr. Leen is a great doctor but he may need to work on his office staff's customer relations. I was in a restaurant once and they messed up my order, they left me the wrong order and got me a new one also. I would go back to a restaurant like that. If Rockland Eye was a restaurant, they would've taken the wrong dish, tossed it in the garbage and asked me to leave or pay for a new dish. Not going back. read more

My wife and I had an appointment at Garnerville office. WeMy wife was 7 minutes late to her appointment. I was 3 minutes earlier than my appointment time. We could not checking on the computer so front desk staff asked us to sit down. The staff supervisor (not know her name but she was white lady) came to us and without asking any questions, she told us you are late and we can't take you today so we need reschedule your appointment. She was very rude and had no clue what she was talking about. She keep saying i am trying to help you but she would not takes and want us to reschedule our appointment. I am going to the office for now several years but never had any issue and never seen her there. I think she now have to work and getting frastructed on the patient. The management should look into her attitude and let her go before she further ruins the office image. The doctors and prescreen staff are very nice but person like her can damage the office image. read more

I've been to this office a few times for eye exams since I wear glasses. What I don't understand is how they accept MVP insurance yet when your given the prescription so you can get the glasses you need this office has the nerve to charge you for the prescription which is supposed to be covered under this insurance since its Medicaid. We're not talking about the frames mind you we're talking about the lenses which is the reason you go for the eye exam. Next time this office charges me for my prescription for glasses Im going to the BBB. read more
