We were in a bind around Thanksgiving time and needed an iPad screen repaired before a long road trip. They got us in same day which was awesome but the quality of work was terrible. There is clouded lighting spots on the bottom right quarter of the screen and the button keeps moving out of place. I definitely do not recommend using this place especially since now I'm going to have to get the screen repaired again somewhere more reputable. My wife was having trouble with keeping her iPad charged. I took it in to RockIT repair about 5 or 6 pm. The next morning at 10:30, or so, they left a message saying they fixed the problem. On a previous occassion, I took that same iPad in with a different problem. Again, the next morning they called saying there simply were too many apps running. They fixed that for no charge at all. He gave up and replaced it with an iPhone SE second generation which is working as one would expect: very well. - I should mention they were very nice and did seem to care, and were ready to take it back a 3rd time, but that was too much. read more

They removed for me an auxiliary cable connector that had broken off inside a speaker jack. While the fix wasn't inexpensive, it was less than replacing the speaker if I had potentially damaged the port attempting to remove the severed part. The device was operationally tested before return, as well. read more

Take your problems elsewhere, these people are incompetent, don't care for customer service, and in the end will give you more problems. My experience- Came in to get the screen replaced on my phone, the part came in at the end of the week. I dropped off the phone and picked it up 2 hours later and took it home where I found the volume buttons were sunk in as if not connected at all, they weren't working. I went back right away and they said to come back tomorrow because they were too busy, even though I had just picked it up and paid 100 dollars to get the screen fixed. BS! Went back the next morning to get the volume buttons fixed, took 5 minutes! Then I go back home only to find out now the phones speaker didn't work! So I go back AGAIN for the 3rd time to have them fix that! Finally the phone seems to be working fine. When all I needed was to get the screen replaced these incompetent people broke 2 other things causing me to go back 3 times! If the owner of this business is reading this: this is not what one expects from a "veteran owned" business, get to work, take charge, and police your men because they absolutely suck! which reflects on you and your business! therefore, you and RockIT Repairs sucks! I urge you to stop and read this before bringing any electronics here. I brought my phone here to simply replace the battery. As soon as I paid for said service and was leaving, I noticed my phone would continuously reset every 2 minutes or so. When I turned around and brought it back they initially just refunded me, swapped back my old battery, and said it was a "default battery" without bothering to recheck if the phone was still restarting (spoiler alert: it was). I told them what it likely was (there are a lot of things that can go wrong on the replacement end of a battery change), and they told me that essentially nothing can go wrong during a battery replacement and how simple it is. If it was so simple how did you guys f*** it up? I was then given a replacement phone that was 3-4 generations older than mine for the duration of the time they were taking to now fix the phone they broke. I ended up having to buy a new phone because they took 4 weeks to fix my phone. To add the cherry on top, they handed the phone back to my husband when it was ready with no charge whatsoever so he couldn't even check if they actually fixed it this time. If they cannot do a simple batter replacement, think twice about bringing your electronics for ANY other service. They do not know what they're doing, and they set me back another $700-800. My review is similar to others here. First, I had my battery replaced, and they did not install all the screws which caused my front part of my screen to pop off and break. This was verified by tech. They provided me only a 15% discount for their error. I was in need of my phone, so I paid. When I came to pick up the phone, they said now my Touch ID was not working. The tech claimed water damage that damaged the connection. Not believing what I was told I brought my phone to Apple. They mentioned my phone was damaged during repair and my battery was aftermarket and will most likely fail. In all, beware of the "water damage" excuse for issues that may arise. Over the years I spent over $1,000 dollars at Rockit Repairs. I won't go back. You get what you paid for. read more

I took my iPad here after the screen was cracked. RockIT repair said the repair would only take a few days. I received a package from RockIT repair in the mail a few days later containing my iPad separated into pieces and wrapped in a towel. I was very confused. I took the package back to RockIT repairs, where they laughed and told me they accidentally sent my iPad to me, rather than another company who would fix the iPad. After I brought the iPad back, it took over three months for the iPad to be fixed and given back to me. I was charged $125. They offered no discount for the complete lack of service they provided. The iPad is in worse shape now than it was when the screen was cracked. The buttons no longer work, and the screen replacement is curling up in the corners. This is the worst business I have been to in Fredericksburg, I will never go here again. I will never recommend anyone I know to go here. read more

This was almost three weeks later. After leaving a little upset, I returned to pick up my phone when it was finished. They called and told me I needed a new chip, it would be $250. I agreed to the repair and waited. They said it would be about 4 days to get the parts then 1 more day for the repair, I call 2 weeks later and the manager had trouble finding my laptop, then tells me I need a new motherboard, that will be $450. #1 How did it change from a chip to a motherboard? I don't know enough to legitimately diagnose my computer problem but if I paid $25 for a diagnostic, why did it change after the first tech diagnosed it? My experience with RockIt repairs is mixed. I brought in my iPhone 5 because I dropped my phone in the driveway and shatter the screen glass. The LCD and digitizer was working fine and the phone itself could still make and receive calls. Let me start off by saying that the glass repair itself is great and if I was only rating RockIT repairs on the repair they would get five stars. But I have two major grievances that would make me cautious about returning. 1st- I was quoted one price for the repair when I dropped the phone off, and they were going to charge me an extra 15 bucks when I went to pick the phone up and simply said" that's the price for an iPhone 5 repair" until I unfolded the work order where I signed the original quote and then they immediately adjusted the price. Kind of shady. Second, after receiving my phone back, I quickly discovered that my ear speaker is now damaged and everyone sounds like Charlie Brown's teacher on a call making using my phone to talk almost impossible unless on speaker phone. Needless to say I am going to need to have the speaker replaced and after my experience thus far I am not likely to bring the phone back again... read more

My MacBook Pro laptop crashed while I was using it at someone else's house without my backup drive. I took the laptop and backup to Rockit to extract a file I needed and transfer the data from the backup to the laptop. They extracted the file and ERASED the backup drive, which contained all my data files and 15 years of family pictures. I was not using iCloud at the time and had to send the laptop and backup drive to a data recovery place in California (recommended by Apple) and pay $2500 for them to recover most of the data--more than I would have paid for a new laptop. That company told me that the backup drive had been "deliberately" erased. While I'm sure the Rockit Repair employee did not "deliberately" erase it, his dishonesty about his mistake and Rockit Repairs' failure to apologize or recompense me in any way has lost them my trust, goodwill, and business. read more

Pricey repair: paid $80 labor to repair a DELL laptop jack and the part supposedly cost $20. The repair probably took 5 minutes btw. MAKE SURE TO WRITE YOUR NAME ON A STICKER AND PLACE IT ON YOUR CHARGER/ACCESSORIES/ PROPERTY. They were using my band new authentic Dell charger I purchased & received only days before dropping my items off for other things. When I arrived to pick up my laptop my charger was not with it & the gentlemen went in the back grabbing random charges to check if it fit my laptop. (I thought how is that possible when you guys "label" each item and secure it in a box) The charger I left the store with is a dell charger, however I did not give my permission for them to use it on other products or customers items. I assume they were using it because it was in the back unwrapped in a total different space from my laptop ( not to mention the crinkles in the wire are not present , which are usually present unless it is kept unwrapped and used for an extended period of time . Keeping in mind my first time unwrapping it was when I brought it in). I can't imagine they would keep unknown chargers in the back without wrapping them up. I was recommended by my brother,but I will not be returning nor recommending the shop to anyone else. read more

We couldn't get my husband's Samsung phone to power up and since it was old, we bought him a new phone at AT&T. They told him that there was no way to retrieve his contacts and photos off of his old phone. He was just sick that he was losing everything. They didn't even look at his phone. We took it to RockIt Repair and within in a minute John had it powered up. I believe AT&T didn't want to help with the old phone because they wanted to sell a new phone. We would have bought a new phone anyway, but are disappointed with their customer service. RockIt Repair retrieved all the information off of the old phone and transferred it to the new phone in less than an hour! I recently sent my Galaxy S4 to RockIT for a glass screen replacement. I'm writing this review because my experience was different from the walk-in customers' reviews lauding the quick turnaround for repairs. According to USPS, my phone was delivered to RockIT at 4:44 pm on a Wednesday, arguably too late to repair even though RockIT says they are open until 8:00 pm. They repaired the phone on Thursday, emailing me when they started and completed the repair (a nice touch). After receiving the completion notice I called to provide my credit card info; I quickly received an emailed invoice marked "Paid." Then things started to slow down. About 3-4 hours later, I got a call from a woman at RockIT saying my phone could not be returned until I paid. I went to my bank website to verify that my cc had been charged, called RockIT and a man said there had been a "communication problem." On Friday, I emailed them requesting shipping info; RockIT sent me a USPS tracking number. According to USPS, they accepted the shipment at the USPS Fredericksburg sort facility at 10:44 pm Saturday. I got my phone back. The new screen looks skillfully installed although it was covered with some kind of greasy substance that I had to remove. This is not a negative review. I might use RockIT again for similar work. But while their website mail-in cell phone repair page says "we will repair and ship the device back out within 24 hours" a more complete message would add "Your mileage may vary." I believe they are technically competent but could improve the performance of their support functions. read more

They told me it would be $125, and to come back in 2 hours. When I returned in 2 hours, at first they couldn't find my phone. When they finally found it, no one had even looked at it. No apologies! So I took it to Verizon, and they told me the screen wasn't cracked - it was just the tempered glass protector. There was nothing wrong with the slot for a headphone jack either - the problem was the headphone cord. Total cost - $11. Rockit was ready to rip me off. After getting my iPad fixed I was thrilled ....but sadly I was mistaken...after comeing here and hoping they can fix my screen and make it look all brand new and stuff ...i picked it up i had a few issues with my botton... it wouldnt press to get out of an app....so i went back and told them about this issue that i never had before I came to rocket repair...so I'm guessing they caused this bullshit on my tablet when they displayed a new screen...they didn't really fixed my issue propley...so I just let it be I don't even want to deal with it...When you want thing to be done right you seriously gotta do it yourself relaying on unreliable people sucks...After two months in my tablet started to crack on it own...from the right side...after two more months it got worst then when I came here to get it fixed...They clearly didn't fix it!!! They made it worst by putting cheap material on my tablet.... I had the glass on my phone fixed here twice. Not once did they tell me that having a third party replace the glass would cause the factory warranty to be voided (which really, is my own bad). You'd think they could have mentioned it, though. But no. So they fixed the glass the first time. It breaks again. They said that's not covered under their 90 day warranty. So I pay to have it replaced again. Bought some gorilla glass (which they NEVER recommended to me-considering I had broken the glass twice now, it would have been a good investment for me-but why make $30 off of someone when they could make $125.00 to replace glass on a phone?). So fast forward a few months. I have a case on it, and gorilla glass, and the screen cracks again. UNDER the gorilla glass. I didn't drop it, slam it, sneeze on it, or even breathe in the phone's general direction. It just cracked. My husband took it to the manufacturer and they said, "The phone is bent. That's why the glass keeps cracking over and over again so easily." So why didn't Rockit notice that the phone frame was bent? I mean, that's part of their job, yes? Or did they notice and just assume that the glass would keep breaking and they would continue to make money off of me? Also, the manufacturer told my husband that because the glass was replaced by a third party, they wouldn't even touch it. So I ended up needing a new one, which cost a fortune. I do not recommend this place for phone repairs. By reading reviews maybe they aren't the best for iPads, either. Make the long drive and take it to the manufacturer or the wireless company you bought it from so they can send it to the manufacturer for repair so you know it's done correctly, and you don't void your warranty. read more

I asked for a home visit to clear up my email account on a Mac Desktop and after 3 long hours, my computer was worse than when the tech arrived. After 3 hrs, he was in such a hurry to leave that he failed to verify that my printer was connected and system was working right. After he left, I could not connect to my printer, I could not get emails and lost so much of my previous material. He told me that he had to wipe the system clean but I could retrieve it by iCloud--when didn't happen. Unfortunately, I did not ask the tech if he was familiar with IMac and had to go to Apple store to repair the damage RockIT did to my system. Would NOT recommend RockIT to anyone and feel that i was taken advantage of and cheated out of $240.00 charged for destroying my computer. read more

This place is a sham, they have a rag tag group of novices fixing your technology. I only needed my charging port on my Galaxy S4 repaired because it randomly stopped working. Dropped it off and they fixed it an hour later, but they were sending text notifications to my cell phone...which they had in their possession. I didn't know until I called them right before closing and had to rush to pick it up. An hour after picking up my phone, I realized my mic wasn't working and my lock/power button wasn't working as well as it did before. So, I show up there the next day, asking them to take a look. They call an hour later saying they couldn't fix it because of water damage. Granted, I dropped my phone in water 4 months ago, but up until my charging port stopped working, my phone, the mic, and my lock button were working perfectly fine. So they kept spouting vague excuses about why they couldn't fix it and why it wasn't their fault. I would take the blame for this, except my phone is now in worse condition than when I dropped it off. On top of that, they put stickers on my screen, which left some disgusting residue and they also replaced my screen protector upside down. Seriously? I would really like to give a better review of this place, but I can't. They do shoddy work and make excuses for it. I don't know what type of people they have working for them, but they are severely unqualified to fix anything. I was recommended to Rockit Repairs by a friend so I thought I'd give them a shot. From the beginning, I was wary. When I called and told them my problem (broken headphone connector in my MacBook's headphone jack), they immediately told me on the phone, without knowing what kind of Apple it was, that they would need to replace the logic board. Really? Just so they could have more information, I brought in my laptop for them to diagnose. The service counter employee, besides chiding the customers whom he had just helped and had left, was less than helpful from the beginning. He stated that the "Tech" was not in at the moment, but that they would get to it as soon as they retuned in about a half an hour. I was to get an estimate no more than 24 hours later. I called 36 hours later to find this out. Of course, the technician wasn't in at the moment to give me any information either. The employee who answered the phone told me they'd get back to my in the next hour. I never received a phone call. I waited another 24 hours without any notification from them. As it turns out, they indeed sent me an e-mail notification, however, they guy who entered my e-mail address or the technician had botched my e-mail so it was sent to another e-mail that was not mine or it got returned to them. I found this out by going back in to the shop. As it turns out, this would indeed have to replace the logic board (note: the early 2012 MacBook Pro enables changing out the jack without logic board replacement-mine is a 2011) for approximately $800. Uh, no. Of course, they charged my a $25 diagnosis fee. I summarily took my laptop and left this shitbag-of-a-store. In the end, a friend of mine was able to extract the broken headphone connector and disconnect the headphone input so I could at least use the speakers, USB ports, and Thunderbolt ports for audio out. Took my son's laptop here to replace a cracked screen/digitizer and was told it would only take a few days and they would have it done before he left for school in couple of weeks. Several days go by and I don't hear anything, so I call and they tell me they have been trying to get a hold of me, however I received no phone calls, emails or text messages from them. They now tell me that the LCD is also cracked, however It was not prior to me taking it in there, as my son used for a couple of months with just a cracked outside touch screen. Since I have no proof, I shell out another 90 dollars and now have to wait another week. Meanwhile my son goes off to college and I have to give him my laptop. Several days go by and call back to check, as I still never receive any status updates from them. They rudely tell me it is still be worked and they will get to it. Then I get a call about the touch screen not working and did I delete the drivers before bringing it any, and I responded with no I did not but I did disable it because with the crack screen it was acting up. So basically they can't get the touch screen working and prefer that I fix it otherwise it just going to be delayed more, so I agree. I go to pick the laptop up, and the screen and LCD doesn't it even fit right and is popping out of the frame, and they had basically tape the thing in and lost the screws to the hold the frame to bezel. They did give me a discount on the price, so I just left it at that...stupid me. Then I get home and start discovering that the web cam now does not work, it all blurred out, probable from the all the tape, then screen keeps popping out, and the keyboard is popping out from the base of the laptop every time you open and close it, and I'm unable to even get the touch screen to work, so basically I wasted 200.00 and the laptop is in worse shape than I took it in....never again will I use this place!! read more

I called early when the store opened, informed them of what I needed done. Clone and swap out the hard drive, check to see if my RAM installed was actually compatible and working properly. I received a call around 2 PM and they informed me that they cloned my hard drive but it didn't work. Fore they hung up, I overheard that "didn't know what's wrong with it" one person talking to the one I was talking with during the call. They started another way to get it done. I went to the store at closing time and said it was 60% done. To be fair, I didn't have the time to give them to complete the job, however I did make sure that it could be done by tonight. I had them stop the process, they installed my old drive. And I left. I the tried to boot up my computer. The battery was dead, I had to plug it in. Then it had to perform a scan. Then it stated that it could not find my operating system kernel. I am now repairing the old hard drive myself. I was not charged any money. I do support Veteran Owned Business. I would use them again, I am sure they would have finished the job. read more

Last month, I was in Fredericksburg when I dropped my cell phone and cracked the screen. I looked on YELP reviews and saw RockIT Repairs had high ratings. I also liked that it was a Vet owned business that supports Wounded Warriors. The repair was done and military discount was given. Once I returned home to Hawaii, my phone started to have problems. Since the phone is relatively new, I figured it had to do with the new screen. I contacted the owner, Jim and he made arrangements with someone on island to fix it. He was diligent in finding someone to help him honor his warranty and in sending me the repair person's contact information. The phone is fixed at no further cost to me. Amazing customer service! I dropped my phone off with a cracked screen about an hour before closing. Was expecting to have to pick it up the next day, but they hustled and got it done that night. Plus I arrived late to pick it up, after 7. They kindly let me in and made sure the phone was perfect before sending it here me with me. This place offered the greatest customer service of any tech repair shop I have seen. Normally when you go to a place like this you deal with people who have the social skills of an ox, NOT AT ROCKIT REPAIRS! The staff was very friendly and courteous and made sure I was happy with the repair weeks after the repair had been completed. I would recommend anyone go to rockit who has a problem with their tablet, laptop, cell phone or just random technology that needs some TLC.
