What an absolutely BRUTAL experience I had with the Batteries Plus branch on Williams St. in Fredericksburg, VA! I called ahead and spoke with two people, one the manager, about programming an automotive FOB I had purchased. The Manager told me she could program it and to come in. So I make the 30 minute drive to the store, give he my master key FOB and the new blank OEM Fob to program. She looks up the car programming information, confirms they can program it, and rings up a $75 programming charge, which I think at the time is reasonable. The exchange is very quick and she sets out to program the car... About 30 minutes later she comes back inside and says, "I can't get the FOB to accept the programming." And proceeds to hand me back my Fob. I ask her if she intends to refund the programming charge which she only now tells me, "That is not refundable since we are programming your Fob. But we can program the Fob we sell for this car, but its not in stock." [Thanks for sharing your policy UPFRONT on your policy of 'no guarantees on programming third party Fobs (which most all are btw)'!] SO I order a new Fob from them for ANOTHER $75 and drive 30 minutes back home to wait a week until the new Fob shows up. When I get home I discover that a slew of electronic systems in the car have been reset, no doubt to some programming gaff. I am able to straighten them all out and figure I would bring this up when the new Fob arrives... A week later, the new Fob comes in and another individual phones to tell me the Fob is in. Before I drive down I ask him, "If this Fob does not accept your programming, will you refund the money spent on the programming which I had paid previously?" He goes away and huddles with his Manager and says that since the programming was paid for the other Fob, they would not refund the programming then either - and this is the Fob I just ordered from them! But he says, "If it the new Fob does not accept programming they will refund the money on the new Fob, but not the programming." I explain that makes no sense and that perhaps its best they just refund the money on the Fob so I can save the hour long round trip since my risk remained the same that this was a continued dead end to program a viable Fob. The counter guy on the phone then tells me that I have to come back in anyways to run the card to return the new Fob charge. I then tell him that since I have to drive back down there now they might as well try and program it since there is nothing to lose at this point. I tell him I will be in in about an hour... So back I go, and 30 minutes later I walk in the door only to be immediately told that they will not attempt to program the new Fob and will only refund my money for the Fob! Seems they had reservations that they could program the car after all - even with their own Fob. They could have said that in the first place. Scam! alert!! What an absolute waste of time and money believing anything that comes out of the mouths of this bunch. It is simply incredible the level of incompetence surrounding this store. I have been to other Battery pus branches over the years and this is easily the WORST I have ever been to. My advise to all reading this review is to: 1.) Ask (many, many) questions upfront because they will not be forthright or upfront with you. 2.) Believe nothing they say, and fact check everything they tell you. 3.) Save your time and money and find an honest vendor that actually gives a damn. These folks absolutely could not care any less - though they do work at that. Hard, hard, hard PASS!!! read more

Never use this company and especially not the Fredericksburg location! I have been a customer of this company for 15 plus years...Mostly out of Woodbridge. The past two years here in Fredericksburg. As I have read in other reviews the punk (Didn't get his name...Dreads) behind the counter fed me the line that it was somehow my fault the battery went flat because it was under 9V. I explained what had happened, but he is god of the counter and will not argue...'you can leave the store' as I was rounding my kids up to leave the store smh. On my way home, I decided to call and get him to explain...Maybe over the phone he isn't so fragile. Same line...policy this and calling me a liar again about how the battery flatlined. I push back in conversation, no cussing no yelling, and the punk says 'I will not be yelled at' (clutching his pearls) and hangs up on me...the customer. Deception and disrespect is all you will find from this store as long as they continue to employ that guy. I filed a complaint with Optima, am leaving a few reviews, and may move on to the BBB. I purchased 2 trolling motor batteries online and went into the store to pick them up. When I arrived, I told the cashier that I had 2 core batteries in the car and needed help getting them in as well as the new batteries I just purchased. He said I will get the new batteries go ahead and bring the old batteries in. These batteries are extremely heavy for a 71-year person that is why I asked for help. I went out and started bringing one battery in and left it at the door. The cashier brought the new batteries out with his face mask below his chin. I asked him to pull the mask up and he replied "well I am outside" and continued to place the battery in my car with the mask still below his chin. He was well within 2 feet of me. I felt extremely uncomfortable with the face mask off and his cavalier attitude. Then he decided to pull his mask back up after placing the batteries in the car. I then went to the sidewalk and carried the old batteries inside the store. At the register I was told my receipts would be emailed to me. I received no indication or report that the new batteries were tested or tested fine, nor was I given an opportunity to get a receipt from the store. When I thought matters could not get worst, I saw an older lady came in store behind me and she received the same treatment. She was told to bring the battery in without any help. She too struggles to get the box inside. Unbelievable. Needless to say, there are many places that sell batteries with the customer's well-being and service their priority. Had to replace tractor battery. They had it in stock, took the old from the passenger side floorboard and put the new one there. Price was less than a Cub Cadet dealer and was more amps than original. Staff was friendly, efficient, and helpful. Will go back there again for any battery needs. read more

The battery in my remote control for my car satellite radio finally died. Yes, I have a remote control that I use while driving, but unfortunately I can't change drivers anytime someone cuts me off. But, anyway, looking at the battery, a thin silver disc, I had no idea where to replace this. Enter the battery mecca that is Batteries Plus. This store is amazing. No matter what kind of battery you need, motorcycle, boat, etc. they have it. The sales clerk found the battery I needed, rang me up, and was incredibly helpful and friendly, and my visit could not have been more than 2 or 3 minutes. Great place! read more

My ATV Duracell battery says it has a two year "FULL REPLACEMENT" warranty. I called the Fredericksburg, Va store on Rt3 and spoke to Steven who told me if the battery wouldn't hold at least 10 volts they would not replace the battery. Made an online appointment to get my iPhone screen repaired. Called the day of to confirm they received the appointment online and the guy, I think "Steve" said they did. I fly out of work only to walk in and see a line of people waiting while the employee behind the counter continued a private conversation with one of the guests waiting. (He was carrying on like he had an audience, already sensed where this was going) After he felt he was done he asked me if I needed help, told him i was there for an appointment and he blurted out that it was going to be a wait since the "one guy in back" was busy. I said, "but I called to confirm this appointment" and he said the walkins were before me. I walked out. Horrible customer service and why offer to set appointments when they don't matter anyway? My husband went to Batteries Plus Bulbs the beginning of April after the store personnel told him when their shipment of thermometer batteries would be delivered to their store. Upon review of our May credit card statement, we both saw what looked like a double charge. My husband did not keep his receipt (turned out to be two receipts) which would have made resolving our so-called problem much easier. But Jeff, the store manager, spent a lot of time researching his system only to discover that my husband had made a second purchase the same day that my husband didn't remember for a FOB battery (he has brain fog). Thank you so much Jeff for taking the time to figure out our mystery!!! I must admit that I only visited this specific business once, but felt it okay to review it after that single visit. I do feel it was the exception because the likelihood of my ever needing to return is quite slim. Batteries Plus is the perfect spot to visit when you find that extremely unusual item in the house that holds a battery like you have never seen in your life. I found such an item last week and the battery threw me for a loop. It was bigger than a "AA" but smaller than a "C". I still, to this day, do not remember the type of battery that it ended up being but Batteries Plus had just what I needed. I had already stopped in at Walmart, Target, Kmart and a couple of other spots but no one had a clue what I was looking for. A friend suggested that I pay Batteries Plus a visit, so I did and I'm so glad that I did. The staff immediately knew what I was looking for and they brought it to the counter for me. It didn't cost much at all and I was very happy to finally find what I needed. Great staff, convenient location, wide variety of product and just an all-around fantastic location. Service was fantastic and very quick. Was traveling through the area and my truck needed a battery stopped here on a busy Saturday afternoon. Clerk showed me some options recommended a mid priced option and did not try to hustle me for the more expensive one. Once I pulled my truck around they installed the battery while I paid and I was out of there in less than 15 minutes. A good bunch of folks -- if you need a rechargeable battery pack, they can make it up out of individual cells. I had a battery pack built for my 3M Airmate Respirator. The retail price for the entire module was $170. I replaced the NiCd cells in the old pack for $20. -- That's a deal in anyone's book. read more

I am very unhappy with the products and service with this store. I purchased a laptop charger just 5 or 6 days ago and the thing does not work. I am 100% positive that the laptop is functional as it works well with another charger. I attempted to exchange the charger today for one that works and was told that they would not do so. I attempted to call their 1-800 number and discovered that there is no method of speaking to a live human being at the corporate level to resolve complaints.
