Luckily, my husband was in the car. One of the guys saw my husband on the driver side and they slowly turned away. I don't know, I did not like it at all! I really wanted to like this place but, I don't think I can go back.

Service was great and the store was quiet! I was the only patron inside and not complaining about that. I prefer quieter places without crowds these days. I'm glad I found my favorites and I plan on returning in the near future.

Manila Hong Kong Store and Kitchen falls firmly into the second category, and honestly that's exactly what a Saturday morning Filipino breakfast calls for. My family and I settled into the cozy, casual vibe without any fuss. This is not a place trying to be anything other than what it is, a neighborhood spot serving solid Filipino food at prices that don't require you to file a damage report afterward. We ordered tocino, fried bangus, and pork sisig, all served with rice, the way the Force intended. The tocino was sweet and caramelized in the right way, the bangus was crispy on the outside and flaky inside, and the sisig brought enough sizzle and flavor to round out the whole spread. We split a gulaman sago drink, which is exactly the kind of refreshing choice that makes you feel like you made a good decision even before the food arrives. Nothing on the table was going to earn a Michelin star, but everything was satisfying and made with care, which is a more honest measure of a good breakfast anyway. The store side of the operation is worth a browse too. Wide selection of Filipino market items, the kind of ingredients and snacks you're not finding at a regular grocery chain. My partner found a few things worth taking home, so the trip pulled double duty. Five stars for being exactly what it promises. Good food, fair prices, and a room that feels like someone's nanay runs it, which in this case is the highest compliment I can offer.

I was actually pleasantly surprised with all the different stuff they have here for your Filipino comfort foods. I could not hold back on certain items because I knew I wouldn't be able to get them unless I drove 2 hours to Sac for seafood city. Pricing wise , I really can't tell as I do not go to Seafood city much, but I personally think the pricing here is decent especially with everything they have on inventory. It is pretty clean , organized , and easy to navigate certain sections. I also like that the restaurant is right next door if you are hungry and want to grab a meal. However I do think their selection is pretty limited with the basic: sinigang ang baboy and Longinisa with garlic fried rice. Also keep in mind if you are getting the sinigang it is about $17. Like I said, probably the closest store you will get to a seafood city and pretty well stocked of items. I do recommend checking this one out .

The interior is pretty sparse with a small TV playing Latin shows. They have beer here including two El Salvadoran beers. In case you were wondering, this restaurant is the sister to El Salvador Restaurant in Reno, and yes, "Restaurant" is part of their business name. I'm not too fond of the one in Reno, however, I haven't been there in several years. I ordered the steak and eggs breakfast, en empanada, a pastelito de carne, a pupusa, and fried plantain and it all came with a salad and what is like Latin cole slaw. I'm a bit of a pupusas and empanadas fiend. The way I like empanadas are Dominican style or at least Washington Heights style which is deep-fried, flakey, and crispy. The empanadas here are a bit small and soft and they had some gooey jelly inside. I like pastelitos too, but here it was a bit more like jalapeno popper crust instead of a more pie crust. The pupusa is pretty decent. The steak was a thin slice which is how a lot of Latin restaurants make them, sometimes called bistec or carne asada. The best empanadas in Reno are at Cantina at GSR. They also have pupusas there. I used to list all the places in Reno/Sparks you could get pupusas, but I think for whatever reason, there are enough El Salvadoran restaurants around that you can get them at lots of places. Oh what the hey, here's the list: Bistro Habanero, Cantina, Mi Querido Pulgarcito (SPX), Asi Es Mi Tierra, Speedy Burrito, Restaurante Yesenia, El Rincon, and Los Cuatro Vientos.
