We had the scallop asparagus risotto and the short ribs with leek mashed potatoes, but the star of the show was the truffle risotto balls! Simply to die for. While visiting "The Vineyard," after perusing many streets, we decided on Rockfish. The menu just outside the entrance displayed a pretty good assortment of menu items and the interior was a bit more upscale than many of the surrounding establishments. Once inside, we were greeted and immediately seated. The server was very nice and took our drink choices. After briefly glancing at the menu, I decided upon the jumbo lobster roll. Our orders arrived in a short time and everything looked wonderful. My lobster roll was overflowing with lobster and a generous portion of fries sat alongside. It was the best lobster roll I've had to date. There are less expensive surrounding places to eat, but if you want some quality dinner in food, I recommend trying Rockfish. read more

We loved this place for a little ( or should I say big) dinner in Edgartown. I kicked it off with the Kermit Lynch Cote du Rhone which I highly recommend along with some fried cauliflower and risotto balls. I kind of expected the cauliflower to be crunchier but it was still really good and the sauce it came with was phenomenal. The risotto balls are dreamy sitting on some incredible mashed potatoes with Parmesan and truffle butter. Seriously so good. Then we got the Mac n cheese with braised short rib. Flavor was amazing, I'd almost like to see them to a larger piece of short rib on top rather than mixing it in. Then last but not least, the risotto with scallops. They were cooked perfectly and wonderful flavors as well. Service was great and food came out quickly! We would definitely come back. read more

If I could give a 1.5 stars I would. This place was recommended by a family friend who goes to MV every year. I wanted the best lobster roll in MV and I was told Rockfish had it. My bf and I went in around 12:30-no line, as soon as we went in a few other parties lined up behind us. We were seated immediately in the back corner. We waited a good 5-10 minutes before we were acknowledged by our server. In fact, the group of 4 people that came AFTER us got seated, greeted and even got water way before we were seen. That was upsetting. Needless to say, they ordered first, got their food first and left way before we did. I'm not sure if it's because they were short-staffed, but I did see a couple of staff just cleaning the table and standing around. Food: I ordered the sautéed buttered lobster roll. It was served in a brioche bun, which I can appreciate. It had plenty of lobster, can't complain about that. Having it in a brioche bun makes a big difference. Some places have it on a regular bun. It also comes with a side of fries. I'm a fries girl and these were not the best fries to pair with the lobster roll. It was soggy and undercooked. Ambiance: nice for any size party. Plenty of tables downstairs and upstairs. Our server was nice but I can't help but think we were treated differently from other customers. Everything took longer, even settling our bill. I just wanted to get up and hand it to our server myself at one point. Needless to say, I don't think I will be going back here. read more

I would just like to start off by saying this is the only place we could find that was open late during our stay in April. We first became acquainted with Rockfish when we stopped in for a few happy hour beverages on the earlier end of dinnertime. It was pretty busy but we were able to score a table next to the bar without waiting. Per one of the servers, their cocktail menu was in flux so they didn't have a few of the items listed. I ordered something with mezcal that had a smoky flavor and deep blue color. It was enjoyable but not spectacular. GF ordered "a lavender martini or something". Her review: "I don't remember it that well but I do remember that it was good". We saw the pizza on their menu and were hungry enough to split one between the two of us. It came out pretty quickly and was surprisingly good. I'm from NY and grew up eating arguably the best pizza in the world so Massachusetts has left something to be desired in that department. I might be going out on a limb here but I think it's safe to say that this is the best pizza I have had in the entire state. Service was very prompt and good. No complaints there. We decided to venture out of our hotel much later on that same day to snag a nightcap. This place was still open at around 10pm and we were able to enjoy some time there with a draught beer until heading back. The following day we also decided to quench our thirst after dinner but it was much later, around midnight. We took a walk to see if this place was still open and it WAS. Not only was it open, but it was fucking poppin'. We did notice that we were, without a doubt, the youngest (and most sober) people there. It was an excellent spot for people watching. Walked upstairs & grabbed a table by the window overlooking the street... great vibe... perfect for people watching while we waited. Our daughter had the pizza... loved it... said the crust was spot on & the flavor just worked. Our son got the lobster grilled cheese with tomato soup... absolutely devoured it... even used the pizza crust to mop up the last of the soup. My wife ordered the beet salad... fresh, balanced... & we split the fish sandwich. One of the best fried fish sandwiches I've had anywhere... crispy without being greasy... flavorful fish... paired with great fries. Went down perfectly with a glass of Sancerre. Beautiful restaurant with great ambience and very friendly service. Our lunch was served quickly and literally the most delicious Caesar salad both of us had ever eaten along with great fries! We went here in February and this place is still dishing out the good food. We both had lobster rolls which were $30 each, which is reasonable. They give you plenty of lobster rolls. My one critique was that the fries were good but they're shoestring fries and I wish they had been thick cut. The bar hosts a full selection of domestic and local draught beer as well as mixed drinks. There is a wood fired pizza oven that we will try next. read more

She was friendly, professional, very attentive and beautiful . The service and food were so good we went back again last night and had the short-ribs, pizza and wings. Two women treated the bartender Tara horribly the first night we were there. Tara handled herself amazingly under the circumstances. I was embarrassed for her while I was eating my dinner and drinking. I'm a realtor licensed in 3 states and have never seen someone treated so poorly by a customer. I really wanted to like this place, but it feels like a tourist trap after our experience. Ordered two pizzas- a margherita pizza (made with marinara sauce-why?!?!) and plain cheese. The plain cheese was greeezy AF and barely edible. I made the best of it and hit up the bar for napkins to sop up the grease thinking this was the best they had to offer. My wife and daughter had to order different dish as they were grossed out by the pizza. Then I saw another table's pizza and realized I got some undercooked, over greased version of their pizza. During our stay in MV, we had one of the best meals at Rockfish. We noticed the nice social distancing setup for the restaurant, where every other table was blocked. We got a nice booth with comfy cushions. We decided on the mushroom and sausage pizza and the wings....You could say, oh well, these are just standard fare...but OMG, the taste of our food was DELICIOUS.... We could see the pizza oven from our table and it was hot spitting out pizzas during our entire time at the restaurant.... The pizza was very very very delicious....the crust had a nice thin crispy texture with a great light flavor....the sauce and the toppings tasted very fresh and homemade....the sausage had a nice kick to it, without being too spicy. Tonight I had the most amazing tacos at Rockfish in Edgartown Mass. Off the special $10 menu of several choices, I chose the seared cod taco. The first time for me. In addition to the cod, it had sliced avocado, delightful cabbage, cilantro, shredded carrots, chipotle aioli and homemade pico de gallo. The ingredients were so flavorful and delicious. They were extremely light and perfect for those of us who don't want something heavy. Every bite was full of flavor. Truly, I think this taco was probably the best I have ever had. Can I just say the lobster tacos were amazing! All around different than the ubiquitous lobster roll. Very fresh tasting. My steak was perfectly cooked as the waiter was patient and heard my actual temperature description. The side dish of veggies was a lovely way of having a baked yet crispy outside potato. A solid contender among the Edgartown restaurant options that has a decent variety of menu items, a generous lobster roll, and reasonable prices, unlike some of its neighbors which are more expensive and lower quality (lookin' at you, Atlantic!). Be warned that it can get very loud, to the point where you can't hear the person sitting right next to you, and that can significantly impact the dining experience. Recently I ordered a golden beet salad to go and discovered that it was mostly arugula, a scattering of beets, a spoonful or two of farro, and no goat cheese at all (despite that being listed) - see photo.
