Thank you so much Rockfish hostess. Due to lack of sleep and reschedule ferry crossing, I needed to get a pizza and salad to go back to our inn. Then I realized I had no milk in room for much needed coffee. The lovely hostess put some milk in a plastic container for me. The chicken bbq pizza was amazing. The thin crust was puffy and crisp. The staff was fantastic. So pleasant and kind and welcoming. We had a large party and wanted to bring our own birthday cake. They were very accommodating and helped us bring our vision to life for the presentation. The atmosphere and waiters get high marks but the food was just good. If I could, I would give this place 3.5 stars. The chicken and pesto pasta was good but the balsamic sauce felt out of place with the pesto pasta. It was like putting salad dressing on pasta. One of the steak dishes was over cooked but that might just mean we order it medium next time instead of medium well. The pork belly ramen was okay but the pork belly itself felt a little more bacon-like than pork belly. The calamari was really good but the sauce with it was very acidic. The mussels and accompanying bread were delicious. The cod was also great and the salad with it was very fresh. The beet salad was very tasty as well. The short rib was superb and cooked perfectly. They put the butter on the roll instead of sautéing the lobster in the butter for the lobster roll. Our server seemed overwhelmed and treated our family with zero care or attention. It wasn't rudeness, it felt more like chaos. After observing how other tables were being handled (or not), it became clear the issue isn't the staff...it's the management. There didn't seem to be any direction or support from the front-of-house. Every person we spoke with to get help had to speak to two other people to get us answers or assist. The head manager was oblivious. The servers looked like they were doing their best to stay afloat without any coordination or backup. But we were able to snag two seats at the upstairs bar. It was their last night of the Season so all of the locals were eating there. We now know why! My husband ordered the Oven Roasted Cod that came with Haricot Verts, Pine Nuts & Black Currant Salad, Citrus Beurre Blanc & Mashed Potatoes. I was so envious! This dish was so very flavorful! The Cod was flaky and tender and sweet. The Beurre Blanc was tangy and buttery. The black Currant Salad was addicting! This dish is 10/10!! I ordered the Guinness Braised Short Rib, Kale & Leek Mashed Potatoes, Crispy Leeks, with Guinness Gravy. This was savory and rich and decadent. OMG! The short rib, even tho there was no bone, was fall off the bone juicy and tender!!! The crispy Leeks set off the mashed potatoes. That Guinness Gravy is a show stopper! Just absolutely delicious! They have a wood burning pizza oven upstairs. We saw the pizzas and they did look good. They do it absolutely perfect here. I'd suggest a reservation. The menu just outside the entrance displayed a pretty good assortment of menu items and the interior was a bit more upscale than many of the surrounding establishments. Once inside, we were greeted and immediately seated. The server was very nice and took our drink choices. After briefly glancing at the menu, I decided upon the jumbo lobster roll. Our orders arrived in a short time and everything looked wonderful. My lobster roll was overflowing with lobster and a generous portion of fries sat alongside. It was the best lobster roll I've had to date. There are less expensive surrounding places to eat, but if you want some quality dinner in food, I recommend trying Rockfish. read more

We loved this place for a little ( or should I say big) dinner in Edgartown. I kicked it off with the Kermit Lynch Cote du Rhone which I highly recommend along with some fried cauliflower and risotto balls. I kind of expected the cauliflower to be crunchier but it was still really good and the sauce it came with was phenomenal. The risotto balls are dreamy sitting on some incredible mashed potatoes with Parmesan and truffle butter. Seriously so good. Then we got the Mac n cheese with braised short rib. Flavor was amazing, I'd almost like to see them to a larger piece of short rib on top rather than mixing it in. Then last but not least, the risotto with scallops. If I could give a 1.5 stars I would. This place was recommended by a family friend who goes to MV every year. I wanted the best lobster roll in MV and I was told Rockfish had it. My bf and I went in around 12:30-no line, as soon as we went in a few other parties lined up behind us. We were seated immediately in the back corner. We waited a good 5-10 minutes before we were acknowledged by our server. In fact, the group of 4 people that came AFTER us got seated, greeted and even got water way before we were seen. That was upsetting. Needless to say, they ordered first, got their food first and left way before we did. I'm not sure if it's because they were short-staffed, but I did see a couple of staff just cleaning the table and standing around. Food: I ordered the sautéed buttered lobster roll. It was served in a brioche bun, which I can appreciate. It had plenty of lobster, can't complain about that. Having it in a brioche bun makes a big difference. Some places have it on a regular bun. It also comes with a side of fries. I'm a fries girl and these were not the best fries to pair with the lobster roll. It was soggy and undercooked. Ambiance: nice for any size party. Plenty of tables downstairs and upstairs. Our server was nice but I can't help but think we were treated differently from other customers. Everything took longer, even settling our bill. I would just like to start off by saying this is the only place we could find that was open late during our stay in April. We first became acquainted with Rockfish when we stopped in for a few happy hour beverages on the earlier end of dinnertime. It was pretty busy but we were able to score a table next to the bar without waiting. Per one of the servers, their cocktail menu was in flux so they didn't have a few of the items listed. I ordered something with mezcal that had a smoky flavor and deep blue color. It was enjoyable but not spectacular. GF ordered "a lavender martini or something". Her review: "I don't remember it that well but I do remember that it was good". We saw the pizza on their menu and were hungry enough to split one between the two of us. It came out pretty quickly and was surprisingly good. I'm from NY and grew up eating arguably the best pizza in the world so Massachusetts has left something to be desired in that department. I might be going out on a limb here but I think it's safe to say that this is the best pizza I have had in the entire state. Service was very prompt and good. No complaints there. We decided to venture out of our hotel much later on that same day to snag a nightcap. This place was still open at around 10pm and we were able to enjoy some time there with a draught beer until heading back. The following day we also decided to quench our thirst after dinner but it was much later, around midnight. We took a walk to see if this place was still open and it WAS. Not only was it open, but it was fucking poppin'. We did notice that we were, without a doubt, the youngest (and most sober) people there. It was an excellent spot for people watching. My one critique was that the fries were good but they're shoestring fries and I wish they had been thick cut. During our stay in MV, we had one of the best meals at Rockfish. We noticed the nice social distancing setup for the restaurant, where every other table was blocked. We got a nice booth with comfy cushions. We decided on the mushroom and sausage pizza and the wings....You could say, oh well, these are just standard fare...but OMG, the taste of our food was DELICIOUS.... We could see the pizza oven from our table and it was hot spitting out pizzas during our entire time at the restaurant.... The pizza was very very very delicious....the crust had a nice thin crispy texture with a great light flavor....the sauce and the toppings tasted very fresh and homemade....the sausage had a nice kick to it, without being too spicy. She was friendly, professional, very attentive and beautiful . The service and food were so good we went back again last night and had the short-ribs, pizza and wings. Two women treated the bartender Tara horribly the first night we were there. Tara handled herself amazingly under the circumstances. I was embarrassed for her while I was eating my dinner and drinking. I'm a realtor licensed in 3 states and have never seen someone treated so poorly by a customer. Can I just say the lobster tacos were amazing! All around different than the ubiquitous lobster roll. Very fresh tasting.
