Updated review: Had the best time here as always! The food is always amazing. If you've never had sushi brought to your table via a rocket, you haven't lived. You order on the tablet and it gets to you by rocket. The service here is also amazing! Started with some decaf team and spicy edamame. The spicy edamame is really tasty and flavorful but it is on the spicier side. For the rolls, we went with Philly roll, 49ers roll and the XXX roll. My favorite was definitely the 49ers roll. I just looked for a random sushi place with ramen and we decided to go here. We were able to get seated quickly. This place is cool since you order on a tablet and a train brings you the food. The waitress bringing drinks was great too and the prices themselves for the drinks were not bad either. I got a California and Philadelphia roll and they were both amazing. I've ridden my bike or walked by Rocket Sushi without going in for a while, yet have been there twice in the past few months--once for takeout, and once for dine-in. When I dined-in, it was pretty busy given they were closing in ~30 minutes! Their menu is so extensive, it's almost intimidating! They offer a lot and all that I've had has been delicious. I liked the Cherry Blossom roll, Romeo and Juliet Special Roll, and Caterpillar Special Roll. Family Affair Special Roll was the weakest but still good. Fish is fresh and portions are hefty. If you dine-in, you can order on a tablet and dishes are delivered via rocket on the side. Very cool, very fun, would be enjoyed by kids as well as people of all ages! I love coming to Rocket Sushi for a quick sushi fix. I love how the sushi comes out in a rocket, which is different from the typical conveyor belt sushi. My favorite rolls are the Black Angel, Chef, and Family Affair rolls. When you check in on Yelp, you can also get a $1 sake, which is a plus. The food does not come out extremely quickly, but I feel like that is understandable as it could take some time to make the rolls, especially if the whole restaurant is packed. The restaurant itself is very big and very spacious as each table is really big and can fit many people in a group. It is pretty convenient to get to via public transportation as it is on Market and is close to multiple areas (Hayes, Mission, Civic Center, etc). Parking is not the most convenient but not the worst; there just isn't much parking directly by the restaurant. read more

Visited this spot for dinner on a Thursday and boy was parking tough. I circled the block for ~15 minutes before I could find a spot four blocks away. If you're planning on coming to this area, I'd highly highly recommend taking public transportation or an uber because parking was the worst I've ever seen it (even by city standards!) I ordered the XXX roll which had spicy tuna and cucumber inside, with salmon, mango, and avacado on the outside. The slamon tasted fresh but the tuna didn't have a very rich flavor to it. Overall it hit the spot because I was craving sushi, but I can't say I would come here again. The servers were friendly and refilled our waters frequently. The food took about 10 minutes to come out which was relatively quick. Based on the harsh lighting and the large size of the booths, I would think this restaurant is for families more so than friends read more

The sushi here tastes great and we loved the massive pieces of sashimi we received with our order. We also got the golden spicy salmon roll, which was the perfect amount of fried to fresh ratio. Just ok. The fish seemed fresh but not tasty. I don't know why/how sushi chefs can make the fish taste different but some have flavor and others do not. The biggest turn off for me (which may be a turn on to others) was the size of the sushi and sashimi. They were huge pieces. I've never had sushi that requires two bites. It's just not enjoyable with such a large piece of raw meat. It felt more carnivorous than delicacy. It was like gnawing on a side of a raw fish. They could have easily made two pieces of sushi from the one and it would have been much better. It wasn't bad but I think the size turned me off. Felt too primitive and barbaric. I suspect many will like it and it's not bad. But, the size just bothered me. read more

Birthday dinner date ! So birthday girl wanted sushi and came across this spot. We read the reviews and sounded pretty good. We arrived around 8 and were seated right away just the two of us. We sat ordered some drinks and explored the menu on the iPad at the table. Plenty of great options so many items I wanted to try! You order up to 4 items at a time and when it does come to the table it's is being served from a robot rocket ship that travels along this rail way with your food neatly placed on top! Probably hands down my favorite sushi spot in SF! From the moment we walked in we were greeted it with such great hospitality, the workers were very sweet. I like the layout of the restaurant and it's nice and bright. You are able to order your food from the tablet at your table and the food comes to you on a rocket. It makes ordering so much fun. All of the rolls I tried were amazing. My absolute favorite one was the chef special roll with wagyu on top. It was something I've never tasted before and left me wanting more. I came here on Valentine's Day and as soon as we got seated, I kid you tf not, there was a full grown man ahh cockroach on the table behind the tablet that you order from. Very unsanitary as I observed while waiting to be seated that the tables were NOT wiped down in between guests, also when we sat down at the cockroach infested booth, there was still trash from the previous guests under the table. We were on our way back to Chicago from a fun ski week in Sun Valley, Idaho when United Airlines made us an offer we couldn't refuse to spend a night in SF. We jumped on it for the travel vouchers and our kids were super excited for their first trip to SF. While it's my home away from home for work, my kids have never been. We quickly put together a fun night of SF activities, which we knew needed to include a delicious sushi dinner. My daughter really wanted to shop at Aviator Nation and Rocket Sushi was nearby. The concept is so fun for kids...and adults! You place your order on the iPad at your table and a rocket brings you your food. Genius! My first thought was they must save a lot on employees, but we had lots of attention from wait staff bringing us drinks and cleaning up after us. The sushi itself was super fresh and tasty too! We started with edamame and massive fresh pieces of salmon sashimi, which were so filling. We also ordered a bunch of rolls - the cherry blossom (so so), double hamachi (good) and a roll with scallops inside (great). I filled up pretty fast, yet that rocket kept delivering food! Fortunately, my sushi loving 8 year old at the kids table behind us is a bottomless pit when it comes to sushi and ate every last bite at his table...and ours.
