I got their deal and it happened to be the Western burger with BBQ sauce and an onion ring. I ate half and saved the rest for later. Oh and you can earn points for eating here, which can earn you free food! Owners and staff are very friendly. This place is very clean, I feel like every time in the past that I have came, which has been many years ago, there is someone mopping, or wiping tables or cleaning the bathrooms. This place is a sleeper hit. I'm particular to the California club on wheat sand which but the burgers are fantastic as well. 100% go for the fries. The other sides (we've tried a few) are just ok but the fries are the best. I'm not a huge soda guy but they've also got an astronomical amount of unique sodas on tap and bottled. read more

First, the place is filthy. The corners of the floor look like no one has cleaned them in a decade. The rest of the place looks as bad. Huge stains on the ceiling. And the place literally reeked. I'm horrified to imagine what the kitchen looked like. I wanted to turn and leave but someone in my party insisted we stay, claiming the place might just be a faux dive. Turns out they were wrong. There was nothing faux about it. It was a dive. And one that had literally nothing good to make up for it. I had the Cali burger. It was inedible. The bread was stale, the meat--whatever it was--and was buried under a bunch of sickly sweet sauce and an absurd amount of toppings. The bread was so stale and there was so much of the wet slop on it that it was impossible to eat without a fork. The first attempt at a bite and the whole wretched mess just exploded and collapsed, leaving my hands covered with the goop and toppings. The fries were overcooked. As was the hot dog someone at the table ordered. I tried to find the actual meat in the supposedly double burger and could only find wafer thin smears of something that was burnt and looked like any other fast food mystery meat. Definitely not fresh and definitely not edible. At least for me. I threw everything in the trash and banned the person our party who insisted we try it from picking any restaurants for us in the future. The fountain drink dispenser looked like it hadn't been cleaned since the 90's and I had risked it anyway. The only diet soda was Diet RC Cola. Which I didn't even think they made anymore. I can't remember what it was supposed to taste like, but after one sip, I was pretty sure that wasn't right. To call the food garbage would actually be an insult to refuse--which can at least occasionally be added to compost. There is literally no force on the planet that would convince me to give this place another chance. Avoid at all costs. read more

The one missing star is partly the parking lot. There is not a lot of room, and if you miss the one driveway, you'll have to circle around to make another attempt. This is important because I went to visit during the week right before sunset. I made the left turn from Cactus to southbound on 35th Ave. The sun was perfectly in my eyes, and there was a bus there, so I totally missed the entrance to parking. Once I did make it to the lot, it was a pretty tight squeeze. Ok, now on to the good stuff. The fact that they let me split a order of sides (half zucchini & half onion rings) is a plus. Side order portions are huge! They both tasted I also got a small italian sub, which tasted fine. However, shredded lettuce on hand-held food is a pet peeve of mine because all it does is fall out. That's exactly what the lettuce in my sandwich did. I got take out, so I was able to grab a fork and eat the lettuce with each sandwich bite, but I would have preferred to have everything handheld and all in one bite. I would order here again, but I would maybe try something different on the menu or order whatever without lettuce. My food was up quick. Pricing on the sides was fair. I think the sandwich was a bit pricey. For those of you who are not diabetic, they also have a giant selection of bottled soda. It's been a while since we've been to Rocket Burger. Now, I actually don't believe I've ever eaten a burger as I usually go for a sandwich. I love sammies lol. We got 2 country club Sandwiches, mini corn dogs, side of fries and a root beer float. The prices are fair and their servings are big. The 2 sandwiches we got were enough to feed 4 people. We each ate a half. The customer service is super friendly and if you're thirsty this is your place. There are rows and rows of any drink you can think of! If you want a float you just pick your drink and they serve up a giant cup of soft serve and mix it for you. Definitely recommend their sandwiches/subs. The mini corn dogs were crisp and the kids loved them. The fries, I don't know why we always get a side of fries because they're never eaten. This place is fantastic. First of all you are greeted by one of their happy employees. They actually enjoy their jobs! I think they put a little love into all their food. It's a simple place inside just a few tables. We eat there because we live pretty far away. Most people get it to go. Their burgers are unique and they will do whatever you ask. Lots of good combos. Cheese curd, fried pickles yummy fry's. Their chicken sandwiches are big and soo good. They make all their own sauces. It's family owned and you can tell they all value your business. They have every kind of soda you can think of. Soft serve ice cream on a fudge brownie oh my! Bathrooms are clean. entire place is clean. Kinda hard to find. It's back behind the chicken place on the southwest corner off 35th Ave. Try it and you'll make it one of your favorite places. We drive about 25 minutes to get there. It's worth it!!! read more

I went for the Santa Fe because the deep fried green chili sounded appealing and next time I'm gonna get double Pattie's because they meat is thin but cooked so good. Pretty sure I finished the burger in less than 10 mins and I am a slow eater. The bun was perfect. Sauces were great. Fries were ok. Not really my style. But we also ordered the chili fries. Chili was meaty and good. I want to try the fried mushrooms or zucchini next time. They also have a variety of sodas and soft serves. Hubby got German chocolate and I got the bluebeery cheesecake. What a great find. When the amazing Laura's Burgers closed in Avondale last year, I felt like one of the best burgers in Arizona was gone. And then I discovered Rocket Burger. And, to be clear, Rocket is fantastic for two reasons: their burgers AND their soda selection. The burgers are unique, flavorful, and fresh. Like any great burger joint, Rocket's "hook" is their sauce. They call it, "Rocket Sauce." It's a slightly spicier, peppery thousand island, made from scratch onsite. It elevates their thin beef patty to new levels. And a word about that: the Pattie's are thin here, and it's by design. It's kind of a "smash burger" approach. So, my recommendation is to order whatever burger you like but with a double patty. It's more balanced in my opinion. Their Santa Fe burger is fantastic, especially with the addition (I'd never seen it) of a lightly breaded, deep-fried Ortega green chili. Yummmmm. The bacon, lettuce and tomato complimented that nicely, and the RAW onions and Rocket sauce added just the right moisture and bite. THEY OFFER SOME 15-20 burgers to choose from so you WILL find the burger of your dreams. All the burgers here are fantastic- even your basic cheeseburger. I will subtract a star, however, for the French fries. To ME, They were not good. Mine were very overdone (burned), super dark brown, and lacked salt. The oil tasted a bit old. If they switched to blanched, Kringle-cut or steak fries, they'd be a 5-star burger joint. Ok, now the sodas. HOLY COW, friends. Just wow. I'm a soda connoisseur and I was in paradise. We're talking HUNDREDS of gourmet, small-batch, and specialty sodas. There must have been 25 root beers alone. Maybe 35. Probably 20 red cream sodas, a dozen grape sodas. Even ultra-obscure selections like Peach Nehi. It was the best soda selection I've seen and I'm from Southern California, where everything is over the top. What a great soda variety! And, if that weren't enough, they're inexpensive aaaaand, on tap they offer big Red, Hire's root beer, Tahiti pink lemonade, and a ton of others. Not your usual Pepsi, Orange, lemonade, and Dr Pepper. Food and drink are top notch here. Not much to look at and in a crappy area, but worth every bit of it. Maybe not the best location either. We ordered a Santa Fe burger and a huge cheeseburger with fries. We added sides of deep fried mushrooms and deep fried zucchinis. The fries, mushrooms and zucchinis were awful. It tasted like really old grease, they were soggy not crisp and had this nauseating old grease taste. It was so disgusting that we just had to toss them. The Santa Fe burger with the deep fried green chili YUCK... the old grease taste on the fried green chili ruined the burger. Waste of money. Ruth, the owner and her nephew are amazing. It's a family owned business and they aren't shy about letting you know they appreciate you AND your business. Everything is made fresh daily and their HUGE assortment of bottled sodas are what keep me coming back for more, aside from all the other positives. Service was fast compared to the big chain "fast" food restaurants and it tastes amazing as well. The ambiance of the restaurant is very laid back and their friendly vibe will make you feel right at home. Taste is 10/10 Customer service is 10/10 If you're in the area, don't hesitate to check out this family owned business. It's a gem in a sea of cookie cutter hamburger joints. Just an all around yummy burger, this place is popping for real. Fries are solid, mine was underseasoned for sure. The buns will melt in your mouth no kizzy. My burger packed some heat but nothing I couldn't dominate and handle. Every bite was consistent, the spice from the sauce, the sweetness from the tomato, and the saltiness of the bacon really made this burger pop. Only thing is..I would rather have a whole sliced onion than diced onions since they kept sliding off. Solid spot nonetheless , I will be back to try their subs! read more
