Finally, a really good Mexican Plate! Anyone that has read my reviews, knows that I like New Mexico style Mexican Food. I have been all over Phoenix looking for something similar, mostly in vain. Well, I stumbled across a comment on ND, where someone said this was their favorite Mexican food restaurant. So, I took a look at Yelp, and sure enough, it looked like what I had been searching for. So we drove all the way from Litchfield Park to give 'em a try (beats driving to El Paso!) The restaurant is very open and oddly decorated with a sea theme. I did like their large patio out front. It would be great on a mild day. I thought the food was excellent! I like my Taco shells fried exactly like they did it. I also like my Chile Relleno with Hatch Chili and Smothered with tomato or enchilada sauce, exactly like they did it. The enchilada was also very good with a tasty red enchilada sauce. Salsa and chips, also good. The lady's behind the counter were friendly ans cheerful. One, especially cheerful young lady, was friendly throughout our visit. As we left, she even thanked us and asked how we liked our meal. So little can mean so much! Yea, I'd made that drive again. Mi Pueblo is at the top of my favorite Mexican Plate list! Went here for lunch on a Saturday and ordered the cheese enchilada plate with rice and beans. The enchiladas and the rice were good. Didn't like the beans at all. Overall the food was okay, just more expensive than I thought it would be. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very clean and large. So ended up going here with friends because our normal favorite Mexican restaurant was closed for plumbing issues. This place was clean enough and the staff was friendly but the food was absolutely horrendous! I got two enchiladas and a taco plus one cheap bottled beer. And my total was $27.85. now I get it, going out to eat is expensive, but this much money for food that, if you called it cafeteria food..... IT'D BE SERIOUSLY INSULTING CAFETERIA FOOD! The plate itself was hot, but the enchiladas and taco we're LUKEWARM, AT BEST, and the cheese wasn't melted! The meat was downright cold. In my opinion, TACO BELL would have been a better choice in this place AND I'M PRETTY SURE WE CAN ALL AGREE THAT'S SAYING SOMETHING! My mother My aunts My mother's mother taught me to make Spanish rice and refried beans! This equally our family and the beans might rival mine. I use ham hocks and still can't get that just right Smokey flavor! The rice tastes like they toast the garlic onion and tomato paste and cook with chicken or vegetable stock not just water! Everything after the basics is a delight. Sometimes you eat the chips and salsa because you have a memory like a strawberry that was ripe from long ago but you never encountered again...you know what I mean you go through the motions as your drink a cold one and await the main entree but here the chips aren't oil and heavy and salsa isn't clumsy and day old the chips and salsa sing! They've got good food, great tunes, and friendly servers. What more is there? Our group had combo plates 7, 8 & 9. The enchilada on #9 was requested with chicken instead of just cheese. Everything came out fast, hot and tasty. After our group was done, we shared a fried ice cream. That was also yummy. After we finished eating, we lost track of time and ended up seated and talking for a while after. No one ever kicked us out. I only realized how late it was when we stepped out and it was darker than I expected. I finally looked at the time on my phone. Ooops. I would definitely come back here for more tasty treats. The crispy beef tacos are a must!!! This time around I went for the grilled fish tacos and the shrimp tacos. I'm usually partial to fish but the shrimp was awesome and packed with shrimp!! The menudo had hardly any broth, too many ingredients couldn't enjoy the hearty broth. And for the price I understand why they try to load it up but we must have broth! Also the burritos and tamales were dry and very plain tasting. Too expensive to be this disappointed, will not return. read more

I am so happy that this little restaurant has endured through the failure of Metrocenter Mall, COVID, the economy . . . Everything. And stayed consistent with their service and their food. I feel like the food was pricey for the amount that you get and that I could've gotten the same thing for half the price at a hole-in-the-wall place a few miles away. I ordered on the phone and picked up 15 minutes later. Got the spinach dip appetizer, which was soggy but fine. Steak fajitas had about a dozen slivers of steak in it but they really had no flavor. Green chili pork burrito was the best of the three. It actually has a good amount of meat and flavor. I'd recommend steering clear of the fajitas and just going for a burrito. Overall, the food is standard Mexican food, nothing noteworthy about it, but it could hit the spot if it's what you're craving. read more

I was lucky to hit this place up twice on this trip and both times were spot on. - Cheese crisp is perfection. Generous but not overloaded with regular orange cheese, the way God intended it to be, Crispy and soft at the same time, just stellar. - Beans and rice, the mark of authentic Mexican food, are some of the best in town. They don't skimp on the sea food and they are taste - ee. - Also tried the mojjara frita - fried tilapia - and t is mouth watering good, the kind where you can't believe your good luck as you dig in to the endless hunks of fried fish. I was stuffed after that one. - Two different dining partners had the green chilaquiles and both times they said the salsa was too sour and were underwhelmed. I didn't try them... - But I did taste the red chilaquiles and they were GOOD. Went once at Happy Jour and once after church on Sunday. We used to love this place but their prices have skyrocketed! For what exactly? It's not a fancy place, plates are the same size, they do very little for you as far as service, and still we pay tips. Inflation has gotten way out of hand and they are taking advantage of it unfortunately. 1 appetizer, 2 plates and 2 regular drinks plus tip cost us over $70!! After a minute of ordering we kindly asked if they could cancel the appetizer and they refused because it was already made. Me and my wife were taking a bike/scooter ride around and looking for some lunch. We spotted MiPueblo in a strip mall and went to take a look at the menu . After checking Yelp we said let's do it. We sat outside and our server Super Nice ,Super Friendly ,Super Service ERIKA was the Best. The food was Fantastic and tasted like authentic Mexican. I had Steak Fajitas (real yummy) red and green peppers with onions and tasty Steak , Beans and tasty tortillas. Chips and salsa with 2 Mild and OK Got my attention (medium/hot in my book) but delicious. Family Owned and operated with a great staff. This is probably my 1st or 2nd Mexican place to eat at! It's so good! They have complementary chips and salsa that you can grab for yourself. It's so good! The chips are delicious and delicate and the salsa is a bit different then others but it's delicious! I also but the salsa on my taco. I ordered the nachos with carne asada and it was cheesy and delicious! It also comes with beans and jalapeños and pico. I ordered a hard shell taco with chicken with cheese, lettuce and pico. It was okay. I also ordered a flour tortilla with carne asada with cheese, lettuce and pico. Omg it was so delicious! This place is open 7 days a week. It's located near peter piper pizza. Came here off of a recommendation from a friend while visiting. Good food, good value. Particularly enjoyed the asada--great flavor and not all fatty like some places. It was winter, so the outside area was nice. It was cool to have the outside spot blocked off by the wall, especially with young kids and/or pets. I really wanted to be writing a 5-star review. The food is excellent and the service was memorable. I had a Chimi with some kind of really super creamy sauce that had a hint of heaven. My wife had literally the best burrito of her life. I had a bite and I have to say that the chef cocinero here, Mario, was a master at bringing this dish to life. The rice was a little clumpy and dry, but I actually like a little crust on my rice. So if you are picky about your rice, ask keep your eyes peeled. The one star deduction was that they don't protect patrons from the homeless, which is terrible in this location. Now I don't want to get into a debate about the homeless situation, but I do expect to be left alone when I'm spending money for date night. I was curious about this particular homeless guy who came in, known to the employees, and asked us for food at our table inside. Like I said, the food was really good, so since I had some extra money, we bought him dinner. Well, extra money and a desire not to be killed or have my family killed. He said that this is one of his favorite restaurants to beg at because the food is so good and they don't mess with him. He didn't seem interested in making any changes in his life, and since the restaurant is so accommodating to his needs, I can't say I blame him. I do hope he's remembering to lubricate his red contact lenses or he'll be blind soon, but at least he's had some good food and has a place to digest the Fentanyl and meth he told us he had just taken. It's incumbent upon restaurants to protect the dining experience of their patronage. Then we can go and talk about what to do about the homeless situation after dinner. read more

Mi Pueblo is on Metro Parkway, the road that encircles the now closed Metro Mall. The menu is on a board behind the counter to your left when you walk in. When this party of two, ordered $31.40 of Mexican food we got a placard to take to our table of choice. They have a Salsa and Chips Bar, with three or four types of Salsa, one of which is hot. The music was very loud. The quietest place we could find the outside dining area. The food arrived quickly. It was lacking both kinds of heat. The Habanero salsa was mild, but it helped to bring out the flavor of the food. For a few minutes, time the food could have arrived hot. As it was, the Chili Relleno was barely warm. Sufficient heating would have cooked it through. The cheese Enchilada had the same problems: not enough thermal and chemical heat. The bland food was simply lacking heat, as was the habanero salsa. The Relleno and Enchilada were large. The portions of rice and beans on the small side they lacked what the music did not: volume. I would go back here a second time. I would hope they have corrected the issues sited, especially the temperature of the food. It was a clean, (including the Men's Bathroom) nicely decorated place. The service was quick and pleasant. We went there around 12:30 on a Sunday. Plenty of tables/booths. You pretty much sit yourself. We found that out after we waited for a moment or two at the counter. Waitress gave us lunch menus and we sat at a booth. Another waitress came over very shortly and asked for our drink orders. I had seen on their web site that they had breakfast so I asked her if they were serving breakfast, which they were and she came back with a breakfast menu. I got the potato and egg breakfast burrito. Hubby got the huevos rancheros which came with refried beans and tortillas (3 tortillas). He could have gotten flour or corn tortillas; he chose corn. We got a basket of chips and salsa complimentary. The food came over pretty quickly after we ordered it. So scrumptious and big portions!! I was more than filled with my breakfast burrito and hubby was stuffed with his meal. We couldn't even finish the chips and believe you me, we wanted to! Wonderful Mexican restaurant and best around. Free chips, salsa, and warm bean dip great you as you sit down. The wait staff is very friendly. The Chilaquiles and The Huevos Montados are the very best chilaquiles with an egg on top we have to ever had. We try to have other items on the menu but the chilaquiles are just too good to pass up.
