Lemon Ricotta Pancakes Combo ($14) + Bacon Maple Butter French Toast Roll-up ($2.50)
Katherine C.

The lemon ricotta pancakes are delicious and fluffy, and their French toast roll-ups are amazing as well. The prices are reasonable, and they offer combos that are good value and right amount of food to fill you up. FYI, the lemon ricotta pancakes take a while for them to make so sit at a table and get comfy for 15-20minutes. There are other food trucks in the area too, although in the morning only the coffee food truck is open when they are. Seating is outside at picnic tables. Free Street Parking

Bacon, Egg, + Cheese Sando and 1+1

We were super impressed with the breakfast we ate here. 1+1: The pancakes were eggy, fluffy, and spongy. They were sweet but not overbearing - great balance! - Nutella Stuffed: Loved the sweetened condensed milk in place of syrup. Great take on a traditional pancake. - Lemon Ricotta: Melted in the mouth. Spongier than the Nutella pancake. The lemon flavor came from the syrup. Bacon, Egg, + Cheese Sando: Very well seasoned. The eggs were fluffy, and the bread was buttery. The components of the sandwich were perfectly balanced.

Solid breakfast burrito, well layered, and a good size. Love the bell pepper onion mix and grilled tortilla. Best of all it's open at 7:30am(when you actually NEED a breakfast burrito). Great location right at the front of The Heist.

So my gym is right next door and I've been coming to the Rose City Food Park for quite some time. Rocket Breakfast is one of the newer carts that has made its way over here. Carts come and go and I'm hoping this one will be here for awhile. I have eaten breakfast a handful of times here at Rocket Breakfast. Breakfast wraps, open faced breakfast sando, French toast roll-ups. I'm slowly making my way around the menu. There has not been one bad item thus far. It's kind of nice to finish my workout in the morning and just ramble over next door for a beverage from J. Vein Caffe (another cart) and a nice hearty breakfast wrap filled with eggs, bacon and cheese, plus jalapeños. It makes the morning that much better and their prices are right. And by pretty much all the other reviews, I'm certainly not wrong in this assessment. These guys know what they are doing and it's a great little spot up on Sandy to come visit in the AM. Enjoy. Lemon Ricotta Pancakes

We just stopped in for lunch when driving through to our destination. There are quite a few trucks at this spot, but only a few were open today (Sunday). I chose the combo plate, lemon ricotta pancakes with eggs and bacon. The hubby opted for a breakfast burrito with bacon. The service was friendly, decently swift since they seemed busy. I looove lemon, but for me the ricotta topping was just too sweet. It was tasty, don't get me wrong, but for this gal dipping my cakes in it tasted more like a very sweet cupcake instead of pancakes. We ran back over to get some maple syrup instead. The eggs were good, although very thin and lacking a bit of flavor. The bacon was cooked to perfection. My husband enjoyed his burrito, fairly average in flavor and size. Overall the food was good, certainly cooked well, an average meal for us.

Love this place. The breakfast burrito and quesadilla was so good. I got sausage and black bean burrito with hot sauce. And bacon quesadilla with black beans. I like that they open right when I'm getting off from work so I can grab something on the way home on the days when I feel like it. The staff is friendly and pretty quick. I just do wish they get better online ordering system. I ordered sausage burrito with black beans but they just made a black bean burrito. I think cause in person sausage and beans would be two separate add ons but in the website they make it seem like the burrito is sausage so I thought I just had to add on the beans. This was my third time going here and that was the first time I had a problem and also didn't like the burrito idk if it was the lack of sausage or what but the burrito was too wet and not as flavorful as first time I had a burrito from there. Overall I do love this place.

Cool little spot surrounded by other food trucks. It was really slow when we went so the wait was only about 10 minutes. I was really excited to try this place as I'm especially fond of food trucks. I was a little disappointed when we got here and saw how limited the menu is. Nothing really jumped out at me but I decided to try the breakfast wrap. My partner ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes. The pancakes were decent enough and the lemon sauce on the side was good but underwhelming. The wrap seemed to lack any seasoning at all. The ingredients were good and it was a decent size but it didn't have any real flavor. Even with the local hot sauce it was just okay. Not bad- just okay. A few simple tweaks in their recipes and I think there's a lot of potential. Not something I would go out of my way to eat again.

Burrito
Tricia S.

Was the only food cart open when we stopped by and we all got something. Service was quick and friendly. Breakfast sandwich was delish - bacon, egg, cheese on toasted bread. Filling and more than enough. Burrito - good sized, fresh ingredients. Roll up - convenient breakfast food! Maple bacon rolled inside flattened bread and fried, sprinkled with powdered sugar Stop on by!

Case Idea. LOL!!

First off, what a stylish, refined-yet-casual atmosphere. Love the layout of the restaurant; it was bright and spacious. They have a variety of tables and booths for various party sizes, plus outdoor dining! All the staff were smiling, kind, and friendly! Our food and drinks came out very quickly. We ordered a good share of items since we wanted to try a variety of things! From the happy hour menu, we got the Boudin Balls and Romaine Wedge Salad. From their dinner menu, we ordered the Virginia Ham Deviled Eggs (upgraded), Local Fried Green Tomatoes, Yellow Grits, Crawfish Etouffee, and Chicken and Waffles Two Pieces. It was my first time trying most of these things. My favorite app was the fried green tomatoes; they weren't wet, were nicely breaded, and were well seasoned. All the fried items were perfectly fried! The eggs, since we upgraded to trout roe, were very salty. The boudin balls were dense, savory, and meaty--not my personal favorite. I enjoyed trying the grits, but my favorite was the crawfish! It was sweet and savory, the sauce was a good consistency, and the portion was generous. The chicken and waffles were fabulous--I can see why they're popular! I don't normally eat this, but it was the perfect mix of savory and sweet; I loved the sweet potato too! Screen Door is a popular spot in Portland, and I can see why! It's a must-visit for visitors and tourists. You'll find it in the Pearl District, off Couch Street.

I did go for brunch, ordered the "famous" chicken and waffles, and went to the Pearl District location. After following all of the instructions of everyone who swears by Screen Door, I still think it's just mediocre (the one thing I really like here is the catfish). I will say that the Pearl District location is a vibe - the restaurant decor is super cool, and I'd go there daily to grab drinks if I lived nearby. The service is also great, everyone is very kind and attentive. Although the food isn't my jam, I will tell you that it is one of the most popular spots in PDX - if you decide to go, bring some extra cash and shop at the cute stores next door while waiting to be seated. I do recommend going to Screen Door, but do it for the experience, don't expect the best southern food you've ever had.

First, I'll start with the positive: Tacos de Pescado were quite good, and perhaps the only thing worth coming for here. They were seasoned very nicely and had great texture and appearance. Absolutely the highlight here. The only thing that could have improved them was just a bit of sweetness in the chipotle mayo, since the sauce was a little bit unbalanced. But they were still very tasty. However, there were a couple things that we experienced that really ruined our experience: (1) Price gouging/stinginess (2) The bitchy hostess I totally get the 2026 times that we're in and that places need to operate on tighter budgets. You want me to seat myself when times are busy? Sure. Go up to the bar to order? Alright. Refill my own water? Meh, not a big deal. But there is a way to do those things without treating customers like pests. We showed up shortly after 3pm and this place was COMPLETELY empty, other than the hostess and bartender. We saw the sign that said to seat ourselves, so we did. Hostess came over and just told us to look over the menus and go to the bar when we're ready to order. I tried to ask her for any recommendations, but her body language clearly said she just wanted to walk away. Then she just went over to the bar, and chatted with coworkers. Then one other couple showed up and I watched the same thing happen -- she just kept looking for the first opportunity to step away and go back to doing nothing. Fine, I am capable of having a good time without her, except the menu was sort of confusing about pricing for their signature "machete" quesadillas; they allow you to order a build-your-own with up to 4 different toppings, but the menu has a weird diagram showing the quesadilla spilt into 4 pieces, and each additional topping had another $4 charge to the order. I called her over to ask if the additional toppings were added to the whole machete, or just a portion of it. She said that any toppings you order are basically substitutions, and will be added IN PLACE of existing toppings. I clarified "So the amount of food is the same, and you're just charging extra for me to choose a different topping?" She confirmed yes. "So why do you guys offer a build-your-own option and then charge 2x-4x more for the same amount of food?" She got a bitchy attitude and just said "I don't know, that's just the way the chef does it," and walked away. So I just ordered a machete that was 1/2 chorizo and 1/2 steak. It makes zero sense to me that I would be charged less to order a steak machete instead of steak on one half and chicken or pork on the other half. It's the exact same amount of food. It's not like they let you combine toppings together or anything -- they literally just cut the machete into different sections and give you one filling. By the way, turns out the machete was 100% not worth ordering anyway, which is disappointing considering that this is their signature dish here. The tortillas were dry and bland, the cheese was rubbery, and the fillings were totally underwhelming. Clearly just some giant batch of meats made a couple days ago that get reheated to order, so again, not sure why they're so weird about the price-gouging. Even funnier, the menu even says that the fillings are "generous." What a scam. But then things got even worse. When the hostess brought my machete, I noticed that there was literally just one tiny dot of crema on the plate, and there was a red sauce and green sauce in the tiniest, half-filled cups. I immediately brought to her attention that there was no cup for the crema, and asked her if I could please get one. She told me I already had some on the plate, and pointed to the dot. I asked if I could please get more than the "dot," and she promptly informed me she would need to add more charges to my meal if I wanted any more sauces. Just absolutely unbelievable stinginess. Her attitude and the price-gouging completely ruined my experience. And what's worse, is the machete isn't even worth its namesake. Those fish tacos are the only thing worth getting. I hope this helps anyone planning to come here. My recommendation would be to skip this place entirely, but if you insist on coming, just get the tacos, skip the machete, and be prepared for price-gouging.
