Pretty much every mechanic or DIYer I know swears by Rock Auto so I thought I'd give them a shot. Truth be told, I have used their website in the past just to see what brands they carry and then try to find the part locally or at least verify the legitimacy of the brand (Kind of the reverse of how people go to a local store and then order online) but the lack of a phone number to call in case something goes wrong always turned me off. This time I needed a set of fuel injectors and the only way to source them locally was to go to 3 different stores and get 3 remanufactured ones from different sources plus a new one that would cost a bunch more. RockAuto kind of saved my bacon here. Keep in mind this place is 100% online and even then, there is no chat or customer service button to push. I googled and I guess there might be a customer service email somewhere but they don't advertise it anywhere. In my case, everything worked out. I found the part, ordered it, it was shipped right away and I got it 3 days later. I guess it's one of those "It's great until it isn't" type of deals. read more

Ordered a starter for my 1969 442. Tried to install the starter but the nose was too long hitting the bell housing; therefore, couldn't even bolt the starter in. The starter case said Delco, but also had MARINE stamped on the casing. Went on website to try to get an exchange, but after answering a lot of questions, they said the part was used because it had signs of being installed. How do I know if a parts fits if I don't try to install it? No customer service, no 800 number to call, and no way to contact them on their website. Lost all my money. I was a ten plus year customer and ordered a catalytic converter. The issue was not the fault of Rockauto because the manufacturer did not list specifics needed to ensure proper fit. However, how they handled it just cost them a customer. First, because i used a pay later option i was advised to return the part which i did and then await Rock Auto to refund me. Its because i did this process through the merchant that RockAuto decided i either deal with them directly or they won't refund me. I didn't want to do that because it wasn't my money and so after waiting a week. The merchant ruled in my favor, I'll never buy from them again. Never installed the part, only took it out of the box. Some of the parts came loose, without packaging or identification in the boxes. Came to find out when trying to service these 4 cars that 2 of the 4 filters were wrong. Ordered brake calipers, all from the same manufacturer, all with the same coating. One came coated one did not and one came only half coated... the last one, we'll it didn't come at all. Worst of all is they have no way fir customers to get in touch to resolve things. Icing on the cake, to return the product they say you need to have the original box intact (it didn't arrive intact) and you must drop it to a DHL delivery location, none in my city. Their ordering system is ridiculous. I ordered three parts and needed them fast. When you go to checkout, you select shipping by date only. So I selected next day business shipping. When I saw only half my items were coming next day, I emailed to ask what is going on. They said that shipping is actually by part and I only selected express for the half of my parts. However, this is completely misleading because there is no way to select shipping for each part, only by date. Why would I think I selected express shipping for only one part when there is only one option for all three parts in the first place? I know people often come here to write a negative review and rarely a positive one. I've been using Rockauto for at least ten years and have had nothing but positive experiences with them. This is through at least 40 orders over multiple vehicles. My most recent order was for a number of high-quality closeout parts. They were about 25% of the cost of buying the identical part at my local auto parts store. Returns have not been an issue for me which have included some expensive and large parts like strut assemblies. The website looks straight out of 1998. But it works and it's easy to find what I need. It's faster than most other sites to find what I need. I know when I shop here that I'm getting the best price or very close to it. Any comparisons I've done have proven this. read more

Ive been shopping for car parts on RA.com for well over 10 years and have NEVER had an issue with ANY items or orders placed until last week. I ordered 2 sets of rotors and brake pads - front+rear set for my 2018 Ford Fiesta ST. My order was shipped in 2 orders; 2 different warehouses. Long story short, I did not receive the rear brake pads in either package so went on RA.com to file a report for replacement/refund. I was UNABLE to get a replacement as an option because they are OUT OF STOCK on RA.com so chose to get a refund for the missing parts in the rear pad/rotor kit which was $103.xx. RA does all customer service via e-mail so you cannot speak directly with anyone which is unfortunate because speaking directly with someone can easily clear up confusion with order issues etc. I was given a refund, a fraction of the total cost of the brake pad kit in the amount of $12.xx and the kit cost $103. I was told if I returned the rotors, I would receive the remaining amount of the kit. Sure no problem i thought but the problem is that I took the rotors out of the original boxes in anticipation of receiving the rear pads in the 2nd package & they do NOT accept returns without original packaging so I am screwed out of a set of rear brake pads and now just Ordered a 2nd set of pads only because the rotors are useless without brake pads... So I just spent an extra $73 after taxes and shipping for a set of rear brake pads for my car by placing a new order. I did this to prove that I NEVER received the pads and I need them and it may be my last order from RA for a long time, we will see if this order arrives correct. Im a bit frustrated with this buying experience if im being honest and now will question if buying from here is the best option considering how conflict resolution was presented to me after this last purchase As others mentioned in their reviews, your email questions are not all answered when you contact them for help. ADVICE: SAVE ALL RECEIPTS AND DO NOT OPEN/UNPACK ANY ITEM UNTIL YOU ARE SURE ALL ITEMS HAVE BEEN RECEIVED! Do not buy from this company they are scammers they sell parts that you didn't order. When you put returns on them they take the part and don't give you back your money. They steal your money. I will figure away to try to get them sued for all the money they have stole. They sent me the wrong coils I sent them back and they said it can't be refunded so they have not sent the part back nor my money they just robbed me. I did the prices of the return the part they sent showed in their system. And it showed that it was for my car. The part did not fit my car nor was the same size as the part I was replacing in fact it was for a truck or bigger car. I did the rerun it showed as 1 part I still gave them both cause that is what they sent a pair. They got the package back but I didn't get my money back. Not do they contact me they just ghosted me and kept the pat and my money. This company is crooks. I advise all who deal with them to boycott this company and their affiliates.
