I read a negative review on here from a customer with over 73 magnets. That customer has way more experience with rockauto than me. I have 7 or 8 magnets. 8 digit order number that starts with a 5. So I have been ordering from Rockauto for over 10 years. Although everyone experience will not be the same. Mine is overall positive. Foremost, Im a do it yourselfer. So I am always the sole installer of all parts I order. If a part fails or is DOA, I will have to remove it and send it back. Not pay a mechanic to remove it and then pay him or her to install replacement. First Rockauto order for current vehicle was after my transmission stopped working. I needed a fluid pump, torque converter, torque converter seal, transmission pump, torque converter solenoid, valve body. That was ten years ago and car is still going strong. Other parts I ordered for my current vehicle are: power steering pump, power steering pressure hose, front sway bay links, front lower ball joints. Those orders were 4-8 years old. First issue I had with a Rockauto order is when they sent me the wrong power steering pump. I was ready to do the job. Then I looked at pump and realized that it was the incorrect one. So I didnt touch my vehicle. I contacted rockauto through their online system. They sent me a return label through email. I returned part. Once they got delivery confirmation of returned part, they sent correct pump. I got it. Installed it in vehicle. I think that whole process took about ten days. After installation of correct pump, I returned core. They credited my account for core. That was my experience with returning an incorrect item and getting the correct one. My current order arrived in one day. I used regular UPS Ground. The reason it arrived within one day is it was shipped from a warehouse in Pico Rivera. All items arrived in perfect new condition. If I wouldve bought these same exact namebrand items from Oreilly, Autozone, etc., I wouldve paid almost double what I was charged at Rockauto. I think this is the primary reason most of us use Rockauto. They are cheaper than our local auto store, eBay, and Amazon prices. I read the comments and I have a few tips for folks: When you order items and you want to pay for shipping from one warehouse, always put items in your cart that ship from the same warehouse. Do not buy items that ship from different warehouses. If you do, you will pay shipping on every warehouse shipment. If you need an item ASAP and you are thinking about using rockauto with next day air shipping, DO NOT DO IT. For one, the price of next day air shipping and the actual price of the part combined will probably be the same price or more than the same part from your local auto parts store. Also, their next day air is not guaranteed that you will get it the next day. You will only get it the next day after they ship order. Which should ship by the next business day. But can take up to a few days for shipment. If you get the incorrect part, contact email support immediately and request a replacement. Not refund. Replacement will not incur new shipping charges. But if you request refund, they will not refund original shipping costs. read more

Avoid them. I ordered a Standard Motor Products turn signal switch for $76.79. There is a Rostra turn signal switch on the site listed for $51.79. I received the Rostra switch in a SMP box. Rockauto told me that sometimes the manufacturer sources products from other companies and sells them as their own and that they have no control over the supply chain. I just wanted the $24 difference. They refused. Several issues here: - I did not order any turn signal switch that Standard Motor Products determines is a switch that they claim. I ordered a specific part number. - I did not do business with the manufacturer. I did business with Rockauto to procure the part that was ordered. - Customer support did not address the underlying issue and just said that it is a SMP product (again not THE SMP product ordered) and that they could not refund. Going through the chargeback process. Pathetic response from customer support. Pathetic company practices. Pathetic leadership. Pathetic experience. Distributor that doesn't manage their vendors and pretends it's on you. Literally no value in Rockauto if this is the case. Makes them no more than a parasite in the supply chain. read more

Great prices. My issue is with the refund of my payment. They won't refund my shipping cost or the taxes I paid for my purchase. Have ordered filters from Rockauto before without issue. However, this time, the filters received were the wrong size. The original filters are rectangular and Rockauto sent square filters. Emailed and provided photos of the correct and wrong size side-by-side. Without any communication from Rockauto, I received 2 more of the wrong size. When I contacted Rockauto a second time, they said it would be a $10 restocking fee to return and try a 3rd time. Their mistake in providing the WRONG SIZE filter, but I gotta pay??? BS. My experience with RockAuto was extremely frustrating and a complete waste of time. I accidentally entered the wrong ZIP code when placing my order--a small mistake that should have been easy to fix. I immediately tried to contact them, only to discover they don't even have a proper customer service phone line. The only way to reach them was through their outdated website, which made the whole situation even more annoying. When I finally got a response, I was told I couldn't correct the shipping ZIP code. Let me preface I have order from RockAuto before without issue. That said, my last experience requires me to leave this review. An extra digit was somehow entered into my shipping address. I was notified that there may a delivery problem and advised to contact the carrier. Carrier (UPS) stated they could not update the address and that I had to contact the sender. RockAuto stated I had the shipper. What concerns me is that my phone number was required but no one called me. The fault may ultimately be with UPS as they did not attempt to research an address that did not exist and did not even give it to the local delivery person (who I am familar with). UPS sent it straight back without even attempting to deliver or the slightest attempt at remedy. As it was "returned to sender" to RockAuto, I was able to be refunded the amount of the products purchased - minus the shipping cost. FedEx marked my RockAuto order as delivered, but the delivery photo shows it left unattended in the driveway. The package was never received. RockAuto refused to issue a refund or replacement and I called fedex and they said all they needed was for them to file a report to fedex on my behalf and they refused to. This could have been a great experience if they provided a live customer connection. I ordered two headlight housings, 2 ballasts and all bulbs. The housings had the wrong ballast plugs rendering them useless. I didn't want to risk returning them and have to pay for return shipping which costs $208. I know I ordered the correct headlight housings so reordering them would result in them shipping the same ones with the wrong plugs. This major problem means that I will not ever deal with Rock Auto again. In my 60 years of dealing with auto parts suppliers, there are many times where a customer needs to speak to a competent representative. This is a terrible business model. read more

Rock Auto is a waste of money. Period. They used to be great and with great customer service, but now their customer service doesn't exist. They blame everything on their vendors policies and they will never do right by the customer. Recently I ordered an alternator, it was defective. I had to pay twice to the shop installing it because they had to replace it twice. So because I didn't want to deal with it a third time. I had to buy from the shop. The prices went from $800 to $2100. Because of all the labor cost. And I tried to do it myself first, but the alternator on a 2015 qx60 is not as easy to do. When emailing them, they hid behind their vendors policy and would not offer a refund, hen I pushed back, they just ignored me. I'm better off getting it on Amazon, at least I get some kind of warranty and can get a refund. I ordered a CARB catalytic converter for my 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe. The part arrived rattling around in the torn cardboard box with no packing, but appeared to have no physical damage. Comparing the old and new front catalytic converter appeared to be identical. However the AO number engraved on the new Catalytic converter (D-698-7) does not match the part number (771321). Should be (D-698-9). Due to this manufacturer defect, I have a $700 catalytic converter that RockAuto will not honor the warranty and replace. My vehicle will not pass California smog. RockAuto needs to be held responsible for products they sell that are defective and honor the 5 year warranty as stated on their website. I will never do business with this company again. read more

The part ordered did not fit due to the wrong hole pattern. Return process is lengthy but it works. The issue that I am having is that even though the part was wrong, this company does not cover the return shipping cost. Ordered a high pressure fuel pump for my 2016 Ford Explorer 3.5L Turbo. Received the part in 3 days via USPS. Inside the RockAuto box was a vendor box with the brand and part number that I ordered. However, inside that box was a TOTALLY different fuel pump for a Hyundai/Kia that had wear marks on it, indicating it was possibly used before (the bad). The pump is smaller with totally different hole, line, and connector positions. I need to have my car running tomorrow, so I was forced to return the part and buy one for twice as much from my local O'Reilly store (Amazon lead time was 3 days). RockAuto has ZERO customer service available for me to contact...I don't believe this was the case when I started doing business with them years ago. I am quite hesitant to do business with them in the future with the lack of customer service. Looks like Amazon will gain even more of my business. read more

No customer service - no shipping refund for THEIR mistake! Ordered several filters and other parts for two cars. The two filters for one car were incorrect even though they were listed in Rock Auto's lookup. Rock Auto does NOT have an email or phone support - only a questionnaire return process. If you select the wrong option you cannot start over. I got a refund for one filter I sent back and the other, which was their mistakes, I had to pay to ship back for store credit. They did NOT refund shipping, which was $38, so the two filters were about 1/3 of the entire order. Cannot recommend based on their awful return process and lack of customer service. read more

EDIT: I was able to get into contact with support at Rockauto via email. I explained the situation and they immediately called me to review and gather details. They immediately issued me a refund, incl the cost to ship the item back to them. This issue expanded out onto other parts I had ordered for my Range Rover and they handled those in the same way. Although getting in touch is not as easy as it maybe should be, once you are they can be great to deal with. Purchased an accessory belt for my 2008 Range Rover, Part BANDO 5PK1010. RockAuto completed verified that this part was to fit the 2006 - 2009 Range Rover, with the Jaguar AJV8. This is absolutely incorrect. The belt is ONLY for the 2003 - 2005 BMW-engined Range Rover. I attempted a return, which led to the site automatically shifting the blame away from them, landing on them accepting the part back if I split return shipping costs. Unacceptable. Their website was wrong and there is no way to communicate this to them as their only form of customer service is self-service on their site. I've had many great experiences, but this is the 3rd absurd customer service issue with them related to a wrong part. A quick phone call and refund would have fixed this, but now I'd rather pay a bit more for superior customer service. I'd only recommend them for limited purchases now. read more
