This place didn't pass that test and it may be the only time in history where it proved me so wrong. When we were served the karage chicken with what appeared to be plain mayo I was seriously doubting my choice. It all changed when the ramen came out. This place is legit. They took the time to master their craft and they pay respect to what a proper bowl of ramen is. We both went for the spicy black garlic tonkatsu with differing spice levels; mild and reaper (+$1). Let's start with that -- typically all you pay for is a glob of chill oil that may or may not be spicy. This was not the case here, it added serious heat without altering the flavor. The black garlic was not burnt. The ramen had depth and umami, but could have been a but more seasoned. Eggs were cooked well and still jammy. If im ever in the area i'd be back.

I had the straight noodles instead of the curly/thicker noodles and honestly if I even come back to this restaurant I'll have to try the curly since I don't think Kintaro does their straight noodles well. Too soft and too "spaghetti" like. Hands down, the only place that does the straight noodles right is Jinya Ramen. But even so, I wasn't too fond of the broth or texture of the chashu here. Overall, the atmosphere is great. You have the option to self-order and the portions are large. Staff was friendly and nonetheless my friend and I had a great time. But unless I'm coming back here with someone who wants to eat here, I don't see myself actively choosing to be back at this spot over other ramen places anytime soon.

That was 3 years ago though, and as of recent I came back to this place after a friend suggested we could give it another shot. I must say, while expectations are low, I was far more impressed than I thought. This place is a bit bigger than neighboring ramen spots, and our server was so interactive, funny and friendly. I like that she actually holds a conversation between me and my friend, in terms of sake recommendations, and being honest on what type of noodles she prefers (I asked her if their straight noodles are good or if I should go for the curly, and she gave me her honest opinion on both, so I went for curly.) She was able to also assist my friend in choosing a better appetizer. I love the bigger variety of drink options, from alcohol to boba milk teas. The curly noodles in the Tonkotsu Ramen was awesome, and the meat's so soft and delicious. My only qualm is that the broth to noodles ratio is a little off; too much broth and it's more watery than other broths I've tasted. Nonetheless, my experience back here went well, and I can definitely see myself coming back here with friends.

My friend loved her ramen and my favorite item was the gyoza. Vegetarian gyoza is hard to come by and I was thankful they made it. We were pleasantly surprised that Royal Tea would serve us in the Ramen restaurant. We were able to have some delicious drinks with our meal! I wasn't a fan of the red bean fish, but my friend loved them and ate both! We loved the atmosphere and design of the restaurant. We thought the vibe was very bright and lively. We ordered a variety of things including multiple nigiri pieces, California roll, tiger roll, green tea cheesecakes and mango mocha ice cream. I liked everything I tried! My son really loved the presentation of all the food and he enjoyed eating here. The only thing I wish they had was fresh wasabi (only certain sushi places have it in this area it seems), but otherwise it was delicious! We definitely will come back!

The food just wasn't good at all. I couldn't even finish the whole thing. I basically through majority of it in the trash. I substituted the white rice with fried rice. The rice was horrible, and not even warm. It tasted like it wasn't even cooked all the way through. The veggie egg-rolls were a disappointment. They also tasted like they weren't fully cooked and almost cold. The only tolerable thing was the miso soup unfortunately.

This did not affect the quality of the food as it was very pleasing to look at as well eat. My partner and I began our meal with the karaage. At first glance they looked like fried chicken bites ,but were actually very tender and soft to chew on. The sauce with it was also very good to pair with the chicken. The ramens were packed with the flavor. Our choices were the to tonkotsu and spicy miso. The tonkotsu was super flavorful and I loved the bits off corn and I added minced pork for extra texture in the soup which was a great choice I would do again. The noodles were thinner than other ramens I have tried but still were very yummy and cooked well. The miso was a thicker soup with thicker noodles and the spiciness wasn't overwhelming. Both bowls were very full and we had left overs to save for later. Overall I enjoyed everything about the restaurant and I would recommend others to come and try it. I will definitely be back.

We've driven out to Mansfield twice now for dinner and both times chose Suzushii…read more I'll start with the ambiance. Unfortunately, the majority of the restaurant is a wide open high ceilinged space made up of tables and chairs. A bar area with two registers either side, line one wall, and booths with chairs on the aisle, line the other. The "music" is radio. It's loud and much of it is garbled over the noise. The first time we were there it was near closing and I asked to please turn it down as we were the only people left. Thankfully they did. This visit there were two birthdays going on and a full noisy house at dinner time. We were in the middle of things at a table. I can say, the prices are moderate and the food is generally good. I see why everyone is there on a Thursday. It's just not my ideal dining experience. Our waiter was terrific and the service was spot on. Their menu is expansive. We first ordered the Spicy Tuna Roll as an appetizer. They make the BEST spicy tuna rolls. Spicy and big, with a large portion of spicy tuna in every bite. EVERY bite. The roll is perfect. Fantastic! I always want Sashimi so I ordered the dinner with 3pcs each of Tuna, Salmon, Yellow Tail, White Tuna, and Red Snapper. It's served with miso soup and a salad. ($26.95) The miso soup is delicious. I usually sip on it as I eat the sashimi. The salad is lettuce and 1 grape tomato but there's lots of that wonderful dressing. They give you shaved daikon in every corner of the sashimi platter and I put some in my leftover dressing in the salad bowl. Crunchy yummy textural goodness for an additional palate cleanser. So good! The rest goes in my soup. None of it goes to waste. I love daikon! The platter itself was good quality except for the salmon which was not firm. Flimsy, it tasted alright but was not particularly unctuous and fell apart when you picked it up with the chopsticks. But overall, I enjoyed the platter and the other fish was very good. My spouse always orders chicken teriyaki. It's a risk. He was disappointed this time with partially charred dry chicken. His dinner was served with Hibachi vegetables and he substituted fried rice for an additional $2.50. It was also served with the miso soup and a salad ($15.95). My husband will not complain to me until the meal is over because he knows I WILL complain for him. But he left most of the chicken so I asked him. *sigh* The restrooms were large, clean and adequately supplied. The parking is shopping center parking. The service does not disappoint. It's unfortunate that some other aspects of quality do.

Stopped in here randomly on a work trip. Sometimes those unexpected finds turn into absolute gems…read more This wasn't one of them. Let's start with the negatives. The cons: 1. The chopsticks. This completely threw me off. They brought out disposable wooden chopsticks that were already separated and looked dirty and worn. Whether they had actually been used or not, that's exactly the impression they gave. When you're about to tuck into raw fish, that's not the first impression you want. 2. Service. Matt Simmons enjoys a beer, and I suffer from a rare condition where every beer tastes suspiciously like another one. Sadly, my research was cut short. The waiter never came back to ask if I wanted another drink or even check on the table. 3. The prices. The $60 Love Boat is fair enough for the amount of food you get. Charging $18 for a bloody rainbow roll, though, is reaching, especially when the service and attention to detail don't justify premium prices. The pros: 1. Credit where it's due, the fish itself was fresh. The tuna and salmon sashimi were the highlights. 2. The Love Boat presentation looks brilliant when it arrives and makes for a great centrepiece. 3. Portions were generous, so nobody left hungry. Unfortunately, sushi is built on trust. If the very first thing placed in front of me looks unhygienic, it immediately puts me on edge. Add in inattentive service and prices that belong in a much better restaurant, and it's difficult to recommend.
