I'll sometimes stop here before or after I teach a yoga class. Stopped here on a Sunday morning just before 9:00 and there were quite a few people here already. This is a great spot for meeting up and catching up. There are lots of seating options and it feels spacious. When it's warm, they have outdoor seating. I elected for a seat near the window and was very content there. Service is always good here! I always get the same thing, a chai latte with oat milk and it never disappoints. They had some fall options which were very tempting. I wanted to get a baked good, but nothing looked that appealing. I was looking for some time to spend in this area and Googled coffee places nearby. What a good find it was. Downtown Caldwell is really good, with ample parking spots, wide roads, and a nice & clean look. I also got a couple of restaurant names, which I am going to try later on. This coffee bar is on the corner of Bloomfield and Smull Ave. You can't miss it. it gives a chill-out vibe. Grab a table or sofa, order whatever you want (ofcourse, from the menu), chit-chat with your friends/family, have those hot sips- what else can you expect from any good coffee joint? I loved the open, clean space of this cafe, and all of the decor was also very cool. I walked in w/ my friend in early October, and the cafe was decorated top to bottom w/ spooky Halloween decorations, which added a very nice touch. Nice local cafe in the area. Lots of regulars come here for coffee, drinks, food. Came here for lunch - service and food was good. Plenty of options to choose from the menu. Decor on the wall is nice - not quite the rock n roll hall of fame but makes you feel like it. There are also souvenirs for purchase. Had unsweetened ice tea (added sugar to it), chicken salad sandwich which came in a toasted bread and served with chips and chicken Caesar salad. Grilled Chicken was pretty dry (a bit over cooked) however there was enough Caesar dressing to help. Overall good and service was good. Really liked the vibes at Rock 'n' Joe. It's like a mix between a coffee shop, a dive bar, and a Hardrock Cafe. There's plenty of tables and cushions to sit on to eat and relax and get work done, while the whole place is filled with rock and roll memorabilia and rock music playing in the background. There were plenty of options for drinks and food, and the atmosphere was just really cool. I want to go back in to try out some different options and see what the early morning vibe is like as I went in the afternoon. But overall it was a coffee shop for people who enjoy rock music and just hanging out. Definitely recommend! read more

Coffee is good (at least if you like sweet lattes, since that's what I ordered aha). I had a drink with Irish cream and hazelnut, though I wish there was better holiday drink signage inside. I stopped in after an early return to New Jersey. Traveling down Bloomfield Avenue toward my home, I stopped in Rock 'n' Joe's for a much needed morning coffee. This is a small franchise which has stores in Pa., Neb. and New Jersey. There are about 4 locations in this state. Parking is either on Bloomfield Avenue or a few spots in the back. The windows are large letting in a lot of sunlight. I am not a fan of dark places in the morning and it was nice to view the ongoing vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Inside there was a great deal of rock decor and memorabilia with rock tunes playing quietly in the background. It is how I start my morning with Alexa Show. Alexa play some " Deep Purple". The seating is comfortable with cushioned chairs, sofas and chairs and outdoor seating when possible. I choose the cushioned chair and ordered a Vanilla Latte and sipped my vanilla latte, stared out the window and unwound. I ordered a Vanilla Latte with almond milk. Prices are about what you would expect at Starbucks. Like Starbucks, Rock 'n' Joe's is all about gourmet coffee with pastries, small sandwiches and a coffeehouse ambiance. Started going here regularly when we moved to the area. It's a great little shop that is a lovely part of the community. The staff is great and the store is clean, friendly and well kept up. We recently got married down the street, and they let our entire wedding come by and we treated everyone to a cup of coffee. This shop will hold a special place in our memories for years to come. I love a good cup of coffee, but I've never really been the kind of guy to hang out in a coffee shop as I usually find the majority of people hanging out in coffee shops to be a bit pretentious or annoying (no not all of them, but you get my point). However, I may have to re-think my prejudice after walking into Rock N Joe the other day. My daughter's high school is near Rock N Joe and I'm going to end up doing a lot of waiting for her over the next few years while she finishes up practices and games and study groups. I believe this is the place I will spend much of that waiting time because the coffee is excellent, the owner and the other employees seem to be pretty damn nice, and I LOVE the decor and the music they play. Been here twice now-once I got a regular cup of coffee and a cookie-both hit the spot. The second time I went I had an espresso drink called a Nutty Irishman that might be the death of me because it was practically perfection in a coffee cup. They don't serve food after 7 on the weekdays - bummer! We came in for some light dinner but had to leave to get food elsewhere, but we came back afterwards ;). Their cappuccino is delicious. The place is cozy, comfortable, great vibe. Tables are very very intimate so be prepared to unwillingly eavesdrop on everyones conversation. We sat next to the most awkward Match.com first date, ever. They have tons of sweets to choose from. And lots of sweet, sugary coffee drinks if you're into that sort of thing. We had a brownie which was good, and a chocolate sea salt cookie which tasted old. Sucked, since chocolate and salt is my favorite combination. I went to Rockin' Joe's to watch my good friend, Christina Zagarino, play some of her original music (shameless plug for her myspace page - myspace.com/tinarino). It's super cute with records on the walls, record sleeves as the menus, etc. Plus, since Dan the owner thought that my friend and I were Chrissy's roadies/groupies/super fans, he let us order what we wanted on the house. This review relates only to the coffee and ambiance of Rockin' Joe; haven't tried the food yet. I've now been here twice. Once in the late evening after dinner at Dough down the street, and once in the morning to do some work. Simply put, this is a great neighborhood coffee shop with a cool vibe. They play great music ("Rockin' Joes"...hello!) and have some cool vintage gold records, album art, and concert posters covering the walls. Did I mention the free Wi-Fi? Yeah, they've got it. I realize that Starbucks has Wi-Fi, coffee, and some food options, and they even play music, but Rockin' Joes is everything Starbucks isn't...in a good way. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the coffee drinks are super tasty; I especially like their "Wide Eye," more commonly known as a red eye. I haven't tried the food yet, but the menu looks mighty fine, and those I've seen eating (especially breakfast) seem to be enjoying the grub. Keep on keepin' on, Rockin' Joe! read more

Everyone who knows me knows that coffee is a huge part of my life. So after dinner Friday night, stopping by Rock "n" Joe was a given. Especially because it's across the street from where we had dinner. As usual their coffee was great. My wife had a tea and I had a caramel latte. Plenty of foam but be careful. It's as hot as molten lava when you get to the liquid! The girls working the counter were as nice and sweet as always. Unfortunately I have to take away one star for the stale coconut cake. It looked delicious and there was only a single piece taken from it. I don't know how long it was sitting in the display case, but it was on the cusp of being stale. It wasn't moist at all but rather kind of dry. It definitely should have been tossed and replaced with a fresh one. But the coconut icing was delicious so I ate most of it anyway! Definitely a cool place to chill out with friends or have an intimate conversation with another. read more

I recently ordered a slice of coconut cake and it was horrible; three slices of very dry cake with no coconut flavor and packed with a very sweet and sugary outer coating. I go here often, all the time. It's on the same street where I live. The coffee and drinks are served hot and by hot, I mean hot. Takes at least 10 minutes before you can even take a sip, which is perfect because often coffee is bought here on the go or you are planning to sit down for a while. FYI ... When you walk in, you can either just sit or wait on line and buy coffee and then sit. I would suggest grabbing your seat and then getting on line. Since so many people self serve if you want waiter service you need to let someone know because the waiters can hardly tell who wants anything and the waiters are all kids in normal street close and you can't really tell who they are. They have some great sandwiches on the menu, but we mostly go here for coffee and a treat. Mostly coffee. They do a great job. Sometimes have music at night and I would prefer to give them my business than anywhere else. Be aware sometimes early in the day, around lunch, sometimes the sun beats down on certain tables and it kind of gets hot in here. But, you can usually move if you need to. Meh. I've experienced better is exactly the correct description of the coffee experience I had at Rock n' Joe today. I simply ordered a large coffee and needed to get 15 minutes of work done, so this review is not about the food. The coffee was served just sub hot, which is a problem. It was $2.60 for a large coffee, which seems appropriate, but their half and half was empty, there were flies all over the baked goods, which I found off-putting (and at the end of November a little odd). The staff was also sub-helpful/friendly and I instantly felt like an outsider as they cheerfully acknowledged regulars, but didn't engage a newcomer. That's it. It's an ok place and I would prefer to support a local spot than Starbucks, but they need to up their game to win some more support. read more
