Five stars all around for our experience with OAR. My husband wanted to go whitewater rafting on…read morethe Ocoee for his birthday this year, and after a quick search through Yelp and beyond, OAR is one of the best rated rafting companies in the area. We booked the Middle River trip, which totals about 3 hours and includes 1.5 hours on the river itself. I booked our trip a couple of weeks in advance online, and I'm glad I did, because they sold out for the day! It was $65 per person, which feels like a fair price for the experience. They recommend arriving 30 minutes early, which will give you plenty of time to get checked in and get your party situated. Definitely bring sunscreen and a plastic water bottle, along with the proper water shoes and attire. You're instructed to leave everything in your car, and then drop your keys off with the front desk staff for pick-up after your rafting trip. The safety briefing started right on time, and basically consists of what to do if you end up going overboard. It's not meant to be scary, and most of it is self-intuitive. There were about 60 people in our group, and the majority of rafts held 6 people. After the safety talk was over, everyone gets their own lifejacket, oar, and helmet. Then you and the rest of your crew hops on a school bus, which will take you to the drop-off site about 20 minutes away. This is where we met our rafting guide, Cleveland, and after a quick demo on paddling and how to sit in the raft, we were off on our adventure! Our time on the water was so much fun, and I want to shout out how incredible Cleveland was from the beginning to the end. He was an awesome mix of friendly, engaging, and informative, which made our trip all the more memorable! As a group of two, we were paired with two other random couples to fill out our raft, which was a great way to meet some new people. Overall this was an amazing experience, and we can't wait to do it again soon. We'll definitely be booking the full river trip next time!

I know the experience through the rapids depends on the approach, but for us the very first rapid was the roughest. We happily paid the $35 for 17 pictures to be sent to us digitally that captured the fun, would go back if ever back in the area!

It was extremely popular and several of the groups in our party were return visitors which is always a great sign. The equipment was looked well kept (thank goodness)! The guides were knowledgeable, playful, and fun! There was an unexpected delay and they helped keep everyone in good spirits and ready for their adventure. They answered every question quickly and efficiently. Our know-it-all guide Gage made sure to tolerate our incessant laughing and foul language. He made us feel safe and made sure we enjoyed every inch of the ride. Fear not: There are outdoor bathrooms and changing rooms. Pro tips: SUNSCREEN! Opt for dry-fit over cotton...trust me. You will have to carry the raft (standard practice) so be prepared. No matter what, you're getting wet (like soaked!!!) so pack a complete change of cloths (shoes too friends) and we recommend a towel. Water shoes will be your best option especially if you are flying after. There are changing room but It's an outdoor adventure camp so expect to see bugs and spiders. If you are overly fastidious, take bug spray & sanitizing wipes! Make sure to leave enough time to pet two most beautiful pups in the county!

There's a photographer who follows you along the way in which you can purchase all the photos at the end for $45. Given the quality of the photos, I feel as though it's a very fair price especially as we ended up with almost 40 pictures to look through. Overall, I had a perfect first white water rafting experience. There's bathrooms, showers, and changing rooms on site if you want to freshen up for the long car ride home. All the staff members were great especially our guide, Justin!! I would love love to come again and do the longer 6 hour ride in the near future. Highly recommend this company!

After kayaking the river, not so sure if tubes woulda been a good thing. Not really a tubing body of water. It's a wide river with twists and turns and islands. Lots to maneuver around. Not to mention the occasional rock and/or tree branch. On a tube, you'd be at the mercy of the river gods. Anyway. Park in their lot, check in and grab your paddles and life jackets (required). Trip is around 2 hours. Minimal direction. Basically, get in the yaks, flow downstream, get out just before the bridge.

The staff members were really helpful…read more We brought our own inflatable kayak that is rated for class IV white water rapids and this river has some class II. We paid a small fee and were taken up river about 6 miles and dropped off. We had a really good time. This was our first time taking our personally owned kayak down white water rapids, but not our first time on whitewater. One of the staff members asked if we were familiar with this river and gave us some tips as to which sides we should be in throughout the trip back down. It was very helpful! When we arrived back there was a torrential downpour and they let us pull our kayak up underneath the overhang to deflate and take shelter, and when the rain calmed, they let us pull our truck up to get our gear safely inside without having to carry it all the way back to the parking lot. Afterwords we went shopping in the gift shop and bought a couple things. They have a really nice variety of items for souvenirs to suit many different interests and tastes. We will be back for sure! Best times to come are on weekdays. Weekends are very busy.

From the moment we arrived, Ray made us feel so welcome. He had the horse ready for us, walked us through everything, and was so patient and attentive making sure my little one felt safe and comfortable the whole ride. You could tell he genuinely loves what he does. What we didn't expect was everything that came after. We got to explore the petting zoo, meet the farm animals, and then a staff member came over and introduced us to a baby goat that was only a few days old, my little one's face was absolutely priceless. And then the moment that made this visit truly unforgettable, while my son was laughing away on the horse shaped tire swing, I glanced over and noticed a wobbly little goat behind us. Turns out we were witnessing a mama goat giving birth right there in front of us. Completely unplanned, totally magical. My little one got a nature lesson he'll probably never forget. This place has the most wonderful energy and the staff clearly care deeply about both the animals and their guests. We will absolutely be back. Highly recommend!

I'm an experienced rider and my husband is a beginner, and our guide, Dave, did a fantastic job matching us with horses (and a mule!) that fit our individual experience levels. He also tailored the trail and ride to our abilities, which made the experience fun and memorable for both of us. For our second ride, it had been raining quite a bit, so Dave took us on a one-hour route where the trails were dry enough and safe for the horses. We really appreciated that their safety and well-being came first, and we still had an amazing time. Both rides were such a highlight of our trip. Thank you, Dave, for being such a great guide and for making us feel so welcome in Blue Ridge! We'll absolutely be back the next time we're in the area
