During my deployment to the Texas border, I began training Muay Thai at Fortitude MMA in McAllen. I had no idea that stepping into that gym would change my life. I quickly fell in love with the art--the discipline, the respect, the challenge, and the constant pursuit of becoming better than I was yesterday. When my deployment ended and I returned home to Dallas, I was determined to continue that journey. Unfortunately, finding a true Muay Thai gym proved much harder than I expected. Most schools I visited were primarily Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academies where Muay Thai felt like an afterthought. I started to wonder if I'd ever find a place that captured the same passion and authenticity I had experienced before. I reached out to my former coaches, and without hesitation they recommended Boon Martial Arts. From the moment I walked through the doors, I knew I had found what I had been searching for. The coaching is world-class, but what truly sets Boon apart is the way every class is structured. Every drill has a purpose. Every technique builds on the last. The pace pushes you to improve while never leaving you behind. And if you ever struggle, your teammates are right there to help you. It's the kind of environment where everyone genuinely wants to see each other succeed. More importantly, Boon Martial Arts did something I never expected--it made me fall in love with Muay Thai all over again. This gym gave me a completely new perspective on the art. It reminded me that Muay Thai isn't just about punches, kicks, knees, and elbows. It's about humility, discipline, growth, and becoming part of a family that challenges you to be your best every single day. Whether you're a complete beginner, someone looking for a new hobby, or a seasoned fighter preparing for competition, I honestly can't think of a better place to train. Boon Martial Arts has earned my respect, my loyalty, and my highest recommendation. If you're searching for authentic Muay Thai, incredible coaching, and a culture that makes you excited to come back every day, don't waste your time looking anywhere else. Walk through the doors, trust the process, and you'll understand exactly why so many people proudly call Boon Martial Arts their home.

They have new activities each week so the kids don't get bored. About once a month they have a special event on Saturday nights with pizza and something the kids will love. For example, last month was sponge ball shooting (whatever it is called). Anyway, this was a great decision. We are happy that she is active and learning self-defense, and the kid loves going. She goal is a black belt! And she is so proud of her two stripes already on her white belt.
