What I like about his teaching style is that he will teach positionally, i.e. he will go over the options from a given position, and then transition into letting students get a feel for what option is "correct." This is perhaps the best way for students to develop a good game and is surprisingly rare to see in a lot of schools. I recommend training at Sloth BJJ for anyone in the area! My boys were very interested and I was unsure. When we sat down and discussed this, I found Hwang Martial Arts to be very affordable. Not only that, but my children had no male role model in their lives at all. Now they have incredible male teachers, who demand respect, but at the same time, give positive motivation, teaching the kids the most important principals of being a solid person. Not only did my kids take advantage of Tae Kwon Do, but I attended the Muay Thai classes for fun and exercise. I had no idea that Mr. Weeks and Mr. Hall would change my perspective completely on physical fitness and how much my mind, body and spirit require physical exercise. My confidence level was very low when we started and I didn't see anything extraordinary about myself. All of that has changed drastically in just a year. I had no reservations about stepping onto the mat. The coaches were outstanding. They made us feel welcome and helped us sharpen our skills. Coach Oscar taught my daughter's class and provided excellent instruction. He made sure she understood the techniques being taught and maintained a safe learning environment. Coach Cardo taught the adult class. He asked what I had been working on at my home gym (open guard) and then tailored the class around drilling those concepts. After I attempted an armbar, he gave me some great pointers on nuances I had missed. He even had me grab my phone so I could record him demonstrating the technique for future reference. Overall, it was a great experience. When I'm back in the area, I'll definitely train here again.

Legacy Krav Maga is a wonderful way to learn a potentially life-saving self-defense system…read more The instructor, Steve, is not only an incredibly knowledgeable instructor, but he truly cares about his students. He teaches all levels, while able to take the time to give one-on-one instruction, when necessary. The students all work together to help each other, and it feels like family. Krav Maga is one of the best self-defense systems ever devised. It is easy to learn, easy to retain, and brutally effective. It is definitely not intended for children, but is a great way for adults to learn to defend themselves and their families. Classes are Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
