I can't say enough good things about this school. All three of my boys train there, and with the two locations we have so many options during the week. My youngest (3) does the Little Samurai class, and already knows how to take down, mount, and even submit. My older boys take the advanced level competition classes, "no gi" classes, and private lessons with Francisco, who has helped them improve their skill set significantly. My husband and all 3 of my boys (12, 9, and 3) train at the school. With the two locations, there are multiple class options. Our youngest does the Little Samurai classes. Eric does a great job using fun exercises to teach actual technique (our 3 year old knows take downs, mount, close guard, and even how to arm bar). The oldest two boys do the level 2 class as well as the level 3, designed for more advanced students who compete. They take private lessons through the school, which has increased their skill level significantly. Both older boys have competed and done very well (multiple medals, but also some much needed humbling experiences that have made them even better students). I came by to this location after my deployment and I noticed some members I use to train with relocated here. The first day I was welcomed like I was a member and Professor Eric is a great instructor. His knowledge, professionalism, and his sincerity to his athletes are remarkable. I'm only able to drop in once in awhile when I can due to schedule but if I had the time to attend his classes, I would. I've been training Brazilian jiu-jitsu with Eric Acha for over four years, and have been in martial arts of one form or another for over twenty. I recommend him unconditionally. He's a natural-born teacher and runs great classes. Every bit of coaching or advice he has given me has been spot on. As to the lineage of the school, Jean Jacques Machado and his brothers are all masters of the art, leaning more toward the technical side. Among them JJM is probably the most technical. What does "technical" mean in a martial art? It means you fight smart, rather than relying only on strength, speed, and conditioning (all good things, of course). What does "technical" mean from a student's perspective? You will not find better understanding, explanation, and drilling of techniques than in a school like this.
