I walked in and was greeted by Professor. Snow and his wife who were warming up. They paused introduced them selves and gave me the info on everything they do. Came back and got in on their open mat on Wednesday. They have a lot of talent that comes in and a diverse class schedule. Women's open mats happen occasionally and hopefully find a slot in the rotation. The kids classes are taught by Coach Ashley and I have been acting as her assistant when I can get off work early enough. I give this place 4 stars based on the quality of Jiu Jitsu, the 5th star is reflective how Sam and his wife run the dojo. It's always neat and clean and they treat everyone like family. I am the newest member and they go above and beyond, asking me how my move and settling into my new community. If you live in the area or are new you should stop in get a look at the place and see if you can add to the family. Hope to see you on the mat!

Three of my children (Ages 24, 8, and 6), my wife, and I have all trained at GB Southlake, and we have all thoroughly enjoyed it. Moreover, we have learned life changing and potentially life saving skills. Professor Alejandro Siqueira is literally World Class. His record of accomplishments in competitions around the world is staggering. His attention to detail in teaching and individual attention is incredible. If anyone in the martial arts world would have the right to have a superiority complex, it would be Professor Alejandro, but he doesn't. There is no one in the martial arts world that you will find that is more personable, friendly, approachable, and humble than Professor Alejandro. The opportunity to train with him is an unbelievable honor. As for the GB Southlake facilities, they are spotless. The mats are well maintained and in fantastic shape. There is plenty of room for spectators/parents to sit, and the changing areas are more than ample. I have trained in at least five martial arts facilities and with at least five sets of instructors over the last 40+ years. None are better than GB Southlake. Moreover, I have investigated a safe place for my children to learn BJJ in this area, and am satisfied that GB Southlake is the best. The fellow students and parents at GB Southlake are very welcoming, such that no matter the level of your prior training, if any, you will not feel out of place. The programs are designed to allow everyone to learn at their own level. Whether you are looking for competition BJJ, a place for your children to learn, recreation, self defense, or fitness, the people, instructors, facilities, and spirit at Gracie Barra Southlake will make you happy you chose them. I highly recommend Gracie Barra Southlake. Jiu Jitsu for everyone!!

The outside only says "Jiu Jitsu" so unless you come up to the door and read some details, you couldnt possibly see that its Roanoke BJJ. And as a Yelper the biz wasnt even in there so it was more difficult to research. We saw our friends go in from the parking lot so we followed in soon after. There were about 30 kids separated into three groups based by weight and size. There were two coaches, one of which was taking the lead in instruction so he was probably the Professor. We werent acknowledged because the session was underway. Our friend directed us where to stand so that was helpful. And they were off rolling. They were put in positions of all different scenarios with rotating partners. It was clear that this was geared towards competition training. Most of the students were advanced(not necessarily by belt or stripe level), aggressive, and proficiently using moves and submissions. The professor was stern, quick, and efficient with teaching, talking, and getting the students to progress through class. It was the way I wish all BJJ classes are run. This Professor is dedicated and developing exceptional BJJ students around the Dallas Fort Worth area! By the time we left there were kids still sparing and it was 7:30pm. Was told it usually goes till about 8pm!! 2 1/2 hours of competition training!! Just f'n amazing!!
