Family and I stopped into Robo's for an early lunch as a part of my adventure to get a hot dog in every Virginia county. I'm glad we were early because the parking lot got really crowded and the place was hopping shortly after 11:15. It's a big menu and we took our time looking over the options. Not everything is super obvious about what it is or has on it but you can ask the folks at the window. Our group ordered hot dogs, tater babies, broccoli cheese bites, and a coffee milkshake. Everything came out pretty quickly and VERY hot. I had a footlong hot dog, ordered with chili, mustard, and cole slaw but it only came with chili and mustard. My Mom had a hot dog with mustard and relish. That one was right but looked a little odd because the toppings were under the dog so it just looked like a plain wiener. The third hot dog was perfect and definitely was looked the most appealing. The tater babies are potato wedges. They were good. The Broccoli cheese bites were just kinda meh. My Aunt gave the coffee milkshake a C grade saying should couldn't really taste the coffee flavor. We enjoyed sitting under the covered areas because it was such a beautiful day. Robo's definitely seems like a local favorite. I'd return and try some other items on the menu (especially breakfast) if I'm in the area again. read more

Hands down! Absolutely the worst hotdog sauce on the planet! It was like the dumped a can of dog food on a footlong. They need to know sauce is runny. Not the consistency of taco meat! Stopped here based on the reviews... if you are in a hurry and need something quick to eat in order to get on down the road, you may wish to think twice about stopping. Once ordered, it took almost 25 mins to get a burger and a hot dog on at mid afternoon on a Saturday. They even got my order wrong as my bacon cheeseburger had neither on it and was just a burger with some spicy sauce all over it. The meat was good but was not at all what I ordered so was sorely disappointed after such a wait. The husband's hot dog was good and no complaints there. I would give them another try on the burger and hope the wait and order is better than our first visit. read more

Thank god for this place because we were starving on our road trip with no fast food options for many miles. Very cute small town drive up order window. I got a cheeseburger and onion petals and the food was ready within 5 minutes, and you could tell it was freshly made. Tasty and warm with plenty of toppings and sauces. After a few years ago we always stop there on our way to Norton (back home). Great food always the same.

Burgers onion rings and cookies and cream milkshake, nuf said. Diner on side of the road that we always hit going to and from mountains.

Robo's has the best milkshakes; they're always thick and flavorful, and they have a good menu of typical but tasty drive-in food.

They have great food but the real star of the show are the shakes. Every shake we've tried has been great, I recommend the chocolate chip or the Oreo shake. read more

Robo's is a drive-in that has a vast growing menu with fresh cook to order food. The beef is locally sourced right in pound and is always fresh. The only downside to Robo's is the parking, as it can become crowded fast. It is right off the highway and is a bit noisy from traffic, but service and employees are always good read more

For years I've eat here and at least once per week I'll stop and get lunch. I typically call my order in and pick it up when I get there. Today that is what I done ordered two cheeseburgers and a hot dog with fries for myself and wife but today wasn't as easy. I walk up to the window gave them my name, the young lady tells me my order wasn't ready. She never offered for me to go ahead and pay but just said it would be a little while. It's Christmas holiday and I understand things are abustle that is I understood up to the point that a person walked up ordered two burgers and got his before me. One after another walked up and got their food but not me. Finally I got my food and took it home. Looking at my cheeseburgers to see if them were as I ordered them. I ordered them with mustard, extra pickles, lettuce, tomato and onion. Neither cheeseburger had any "cheese", the burger patty you could see through, no extra pickles and no mustard. My wife's hot dog had no mustard or so little you couldn't tell it. Very disappointed. I will continue to patron this dairy bar at least until this service becomes the norm. I'm hoping it was just the crowd that was there. The food is normally awesome, the shakes and ice cream people go there for. Good food in our area is hard to come by, this was my place I could depend on. Three stars for the order in accuracies and the service that I was given today. read more

food takes a ridiculous amount of time to be served, is too expensive, and the food is always cold

I've been eating here for decades but it just hasn't been the same since the change of owners. Tonight I just got the worse milkshake ever. Ordered a Reece's cup flavor and neither my husband nor I could taste any chocolate & the peanut butter flavor tasted very old. It was undrinkable! They must have changed cooking oil to the cheapest they could find. Everything fried tasted like cardboard. read more

I'm local. The past 5 times I have been there, 3 of the times my order was way wrong. I imagine it is my responsibility to pull everything out of the bag, open every item, and check for a correct order. Especially when it's 2 burgers and 2 fries. How can you get this wrong 3 out of 5 times? you pay an exorbitant amount of money to there for something that is considerably less than what you ordered. Have been going here since I was a kid. It's a landmark of highway 23! Food is great. Not many places to sie and eat so if this was added that would be a plus. The service is also a bit slow at times. Have waiting 30 minutes to eat before. Other than that Great place to eat! A must go read more

My family, the Lane Family, has been going to Robo's Drive-In for many generations. I have been eating here for as long as I can remember through my childhood. The shakes are phenomenal. Their homemade hot dog chili is world-famous and ships to various states during the right temperatures throughout the year from what I understand. Their hot dogs and footlong hot dogs are wonderful. Their grilled cheese sandwiches are just right too! My mom always loved their ham sandwiches! My grandparents love the burgers along with many different sides. From French fries to onion petals, the list is long. I don't know that anyone from our family has ever had a bad meal from here over all these decades, honestly! The place is always packed, so that speaks for itself I believe! Anytime we visit family in the area, we MUST stop at Robo's and transport some tasty goodness back home to distribute to other family in the Knoxville, Tennessee area. We would highly recommend eating here to anyone who lives nearby or even passing through! The prices can't be beat either! Thank you for being a part of my childhood memories as well as continued exceptional service and serving quality food to this very day! Will certainly be back during my next visit to Virginia!
