Did a pretty simple oil to gas conversion and it was the hardest project to complete with Robison. I own multiple houses that do a lot of construction projects and this was the all time worst experience. Estimate was good, rebates were good, then it all fell apart like an avalanche. 1. Work took a very long time. Very very long. 2. Had to explain to their plumbing department on how to do modern construction work. 3.They outright lie to you on communication with ConEd (though it is in writing), don't show up for important ConEd scheduled appointments and it delays your turn on by a great deal. ConEd was mad at them. 4. The rebates took over 2 years to get back to me (crazy). They said they were sending checks and never did. It's all in documented emails. Never believe what they say. In terms of service, we had a salesperson who promised to call us upon the renewal of our contract every year to go over pricing options. He never called us the first year, and our price jumped up .60 per gallon. When we called to get it corrected, he apologized, and got us the discounted rate again, so that was good. Then he advised us about the Wifi tank monitor, to check the status of our oil level. $100 deposit, that you get back once you take it out. The monitor was always reading numbers that were either way too high, or way too low (it would fluctuate between 100 gallons left, to 220 gallons left, within a matter of an hour). We called to have them replace it, same issue. Then for 2019, our price went up again. I called in, our sales rep had apparently left the company, according to the new sales representative, which would explain why we never got a call. Then when I called about pricing, their rate was $1 a gallon more than most local companies here! That was the discounted rate. I decided to go to a call in delivery, rather than automatic deliveries - I wanted to see where oil prices would be in a few months (this was the end of January). In doing so, they cancelled my tank monitor. They came and took it Feb 3. I've called since to get back the "deposit" and I've been told from numerous people different dates for the refund. The first person said I get it as soon as they receive the monitor. The next person said it takes up to 7 days. When I called 2 weeks later, they said it takes 6-8 weeks. Their reasoning? "The owner of the company has to sign off on all refunds" and he's "never really in anymore to do that ". So they have been holding onto my money for this device, which never worked (and they've come out to fix it since and still had issues) and refuse to refund me the deposit I put back on it. Honestly, I feel like there is something going on with the way they conduct business with "ex customers". I would have been happy to come back to them for automatic delivery once prices decreased because I have never had an issue with their service. This has left a bad imprint with my thoughts on Robison. I make sure I tell all my clients to avoid them as much as possible now, and will continue doing so until they do right by my refund. read more

When Robison bought Frank & Lindy I stuck with them. When I signed up for annual contract the cost is outrageous. About $800 for heat and a/c and I had to buy the filters. The tech just came to service a/c and tells me I only have contract for one system. Why didn't they know what I have? Now I'm going to get charged another $98 to service all units and must pay today. Will fire them as soon as I can. Buyer beware. read more

They give you a cap rate and tell you that if the market goes down they will give you a lower rate but they lock you in a contract and DO NOT GIVE a lower rate. I am 100% sure of this. read more

Would love to give 0 stars if possible for their maintenance department for natural gas boiler systems. First, let me explain that the individual techs for the company are excellent themselves, but the company's costing and policies are a joke. About one month ago we put in in $2400 into a high end boiler, part of which was an annual reconditioning service for the whole boiler. This evening we call in as the boiler's message board is flashing an error. $250 for Robison to show up and $270 per hour shortly on the heels of a service that should have gotten through at least a year. I have found Robison, as a company, to be reliable and responsive for many years. Their routine service has been consistently efficient. Some years ago, I used a different company (for reasons of price) to install an A/C component in my home, but that system never worked properly despite several attempts by the installer to fix it. A call to Robison was all that was needed: the A/C system has worked without a hitch since they worked with it. So, for my money, it's Robison for heat and cooling! read more

I never thought I would write a review but this was necessary. Sorry its so long. But its definitely worth the read. I brought my new home in July and am new to having oil. I grew up with gas service. When we signed on with Robison we thought it was the best thing to do because of their popularity. We signed on for maitnance and automatic refill. We also notified them that our tank was missing a gauge and that was needed as well. This was in Mid October. A gentleman showed up and was very friendly. I asked him if he was there for the gauge he said "no they sent me here to look at your lines." I said ok, thinking it was something mandatory. I currently have a connection at the end of my driveway by the curb. Apparently Robison wanted to reroute the line to connect directly to my home. I asked if there were any issues or reason he said "No, Im going to let them know its not possible since the line runs through your garage, there's nothing wrong, the street connections are kind of just an eye sore." I said ok, he installed the gauge and left Last month we received a call that a technician needed to come look at our line again. At this point a gentleman showed up "to do measurements." When I asked why he said to re route your lines. Once I asked why, he really had no other answer other than we could have a possible leak and that the cost would be upwards of $3000 and we could finance it. we refused and he left. There is no evidence of a leak and we've had 3 deliveries since we signed on with them. Here we are February 14, 2021 and we have no heat. Which shouldn't happen because we have automatic refill... so we thought. Apparently once we called, Robinson explained we no longer had it because we chose to not do the extra work. They switched our service to will call without notifying us during the coldest month of the year. When the same technician showed up he wanted to charge us $510 to bleed the boiler, which I know how to do and only give us 10 gallons of oil, again because we refused to have $3000 worth of work done that isn't needed. His response was "don't shoot the messenger" I have an 18 month old baby and a young son. My house is freezing because I chose to not to have work done by Robison oil. It's shameful and ridiculous. Maybe this will actually get me a call back. Robison charged my credit card early for a renewal of a service contract which I did not want as I found a cheaper place. Was told that it takes 5-10 business days to get a refund. 3 weeks later still nothing. Called again today was told that the department that does the refunds is very busy today. Still no call back. Watch out for their scams about auto billing. I had over a week left on my contract and they automatically billed me without my approval. Who knows how many people they scammed without other customers knowledge. read more

We recently made a mistake and sent Robison a sizable check for oil we had already paid for. These guys sent it back with a quick explanation that it was already paid in full and voided the check. They could have easily gone the shenanigans route, but they decided to keep it honest. Big plus in my book. Also the deliveries have been quick, clean and courteous. I have been a devoted customer for over 15+ years. Generally I've been a fan of Robison, but not any more. Why? I had an outside AC unit installed in July 2020. To our shock, months later today we discovered that our basement outlets were full of WATER due to a faulty outside outlet that Robison installed. All this time rain was actually LEAKING INSIDE THE WIRES and into our home causing a fire hazard. Unbelievable. The shoddy installation wasn't water tight and put our home at risk. Won't be using Robison again. Thought you'd like to know this. Very disappointed. read more

Worked with them since April 2019 and just parted ways. Not to be trusted. Told me I needed a new boiler (only 8 years old) when all that was needed was a new air vent. Then they tried to justify it. Another example, also tried to charge me $250 to fix a leak in a sink, which my handyman fixed in 10 minutes with a $14 part. You pay for a service plan touting it's coverage, but whatever they suggest needs to be fixed is never covered by the plan. Quick to call you when trying to sell something, but try getting a call back quickly when there is a problem. Not recommended. read more

Over priced service plans, that cover very little. Oil prices are always the highest, and during this recent surge in price, they came out and topped off my tank when prices were their peak! I had almost a half a tank left and they came out and filled it just as the weather was getting warm. They charged me 6.20 per gallon when the local market average price was 4.99. It was opportunistic and unethical. They nickel and dime you as well by always adding a stupid 5 dollar delivery fee on top of that. They do on that on service calls that are supposedly "included" in the "gold" plan as well. They add 9 dollars to a included service in the 500 dollar annual service plan. Nothing worse than being nickeled and dimed after over paying for oil! Stay away from this company. I've been with them for 4 years. I've had enough. I will be leaving immediately. read more

Before you sign a contract with Robison, get a second opinion!!! We had hired Robison to replace a water heater and called them again this spring when we found a sewage leak in the basement. Robison employees cleaned out a trap and told us the fix was only temporary, it would last only about two weeks. The real problem, they said, were two segments of collapsed clay pipe in the sewer line connecting our home to the sewer main in the street. The Robison representatives claimed to have seen the collapsed pipes in their video of the line. They said it would cost $16,000 to $18,000 to fix and needed to be done ASAP. We were suspicious. If the obstruction was in the sewer line, how could the temporary fix in the trap help and how could the camera get past the first collapse to identify the second? I called a small plumbing service I had used before. They videoed the sewer line and gave it an "A" rating - no obstruction at all, none - open and clear to the sewer main. We terminated Robison and explained why. A Robison supervisor called and asked if he could video the line at no charge. We agreed. After doing so, he admitted reluctantly, with mitigations and excuses, that his Robison colleagues had gotten it all wrong; the sewer line from our home to the street that Robison told us required at least a $16,000 repair was fine and needed no repair at all. Robison had big financial incentives to lie; they chose to sacrifice honesty to greed. Forewarned is forearmed. Apparently, my experience with Robison is not unique. read more

We switched to Robison from Burke due to better pricing. I have to be clear, this was a BIG mistake. The service is bad. Our heat went out two days ago, someone came and added fancy monitors to our boiler. Fast forward two days, our heat goes out again. I called and explained I have a 1 year old and a pregnant wife and our house is freezing and they said sorry we're backed up you have to wait at least a day. I said again I have a wife due to give birth in weeks and they said, didn't you hear me? That's the service we get, so if you're considering switching - DONT I didn't realize how important the service aspect was. read more

The service people, i.e. the mechanics, are fine - professional and effective. But the admin and executive staff service have really gone downhill. I've been an oil customer for 20 years and and a/c customer for a few also, and it seems like they have no customer service staff left. You call and it takes hours to get through - even in the summer. And they screw up - i've made boiler appointments and had a/c techs arrive. What the heck? My guess is that the company has either been sold or the customer service staff cut in half. Didn't used to be that way but now it's a real crap shoot when it comes to management. So I give 2 stars - the mechanics are good but everything else is 1960s quality. read more

You get what you pay for! I have been a Robison customer since moving to Yorktown Heights 17 years ago. They are worth every penny you spend with them because their service is superior. When you call Robison, you can press 1 for existing customer, or 2 for potential new customer. When you press 1, you will wait for at least half an hour. When you press 2, you will get an answer in seconds. But if they find out you are an existing customer, they will put you back in the 30 minute wait line. Technician Steve T. was very helpful and articulate. Pleased with his advice. We bought a new Bosch Heat/AC heat pump system this past summer when it was hot out. But now that it's winter, we're not accustom to the cold weather operation of the ecobee smart thermostat. Steve stopped by to confirm the settings were correct and gave me pointers on using the digital thermostat. Very pleased with Robison's speedy assistance. read more

Few months ago, winter time, the boiler was not working. We placed an emergency call. They said the somebody would come very soon. Nobody shoed up. Yesterday, end of April, I got a full delivery. At the end of February I told them not to deliver unless I would call. They deliver anyway unexpectedly. I would nor recommend this company, not even to my worst enemy. I have an oil contract and a service contract with Robison. I signed up for both contracts because I was having trouble finding a company that would do work on my old oil system. Even the company that was contracted to service my boiler ended up unwilling to do the work, telling me they weren't licensed to do work in my neighborhood So, I called Robison. My problem was a leaking water tank. The project was to replace the leaking tank with a new tank. Replacing a water tank is not be covered under any service plan. To be clear, I explicitly told Robison before I signed my contract, that I had a leaking water tank that could not be repaired, and I needed a quote to replace the water tank. Before they could get me a quote, Robison told me I would have to have a technician look at the system to be sure the problem was a leaking tank. They assure me this would be covered by my service plan. This was important because I made it clear that I did not want to pay for a service call, because I knew I needed to purchase and install a new water tank. This was all discussed with Robison before I signed up for the oil contract and service plan. Robison was able to get someone to my house approximately 24 hours after I became a customer. When the technician came the next day, he quickly identified the problem, and put in a request for a quote. Before he left, the technician told me he needed to drain the tank because it would be irresponsible for him to leave a leaking tank even though the leaking water was contained. I told him that was not a problem if he needed to do that, but my family would be without hot water at that point. He drained the tank one bucket at a time. By the time the tank was drained, he had been at the house 1.5 hours. Before he left, he casually wrote up a bill for $325 and handed it to me. I told him this was not supposed to be billable, because the only reason he was there was to help me get the quote for the new water tank. He told me he was required to write up the bill because he was at the house and did the work, but I could call the main office, and they could help me. He also said if I do the work with Robison, they would credit me the amount billed for the service call. This ended up not being an option, because the person who came the next day to write me up a quote, couldn't commit to a specific date to replace the water tank, because of other job commitments. After I got he quote, I called several times trying to lock down a date with no luck. Eventually I called more companies. Several days later I found someone to do the work, bringing hot water back to my house. I called Robison, explained the situaiton and told them what the technician had said about the charge. I found Robison to be inflexible and unwilling to listen to me. While they have delivered oil at the contracted rate (which happens to be locked in above today's prices), I am not happy with the lack of customer service, and unprofessional billing practice. read more

Sub-par customer service - took 20 days of chasing and calling repeatedly to get across to speak to someone to discuss the gross overbilling from Robison. Finally, the Supervisor offered to reduce the invoice by 10% which I refused as I still ended up having grossly overpaid. The promise made to me when they sold the contract was that it would be Time & Material based billing and when I got the Invoice - voila, it had become a Flat Rate Billing. I was a customer for over a year - i tried to close my account when i noticed that my contracted oil price had expired and they jacked my price up to the highest they offered and it had been going on for months until i noticed. they never sent me any notification that the contract had expired. When I tried to close my account they were rude and would not close the account. they kept telling me someone would call me back and they never did. do not use this company - they are overpriced and use shady sales practices. I did not have a good experience with Robison. As a new homeowner, I was not giving the right advice on the oil plan to select from and ended up locking in at a very high price, or what they deem a ceiling price. During my time with Robison Oil prices crashed (COD oil went down almost $1.00 per gallon) yet Robison claimed their prices did not come down and I would still have to pay the ridiculously high ceiling price which was at about $1.00 more to the gallon (on a tank fill for me that equated to over $200 per fill). See what Robison doesn't tell you is that their prices to lock you in are INTRODUCTORY prices and that after that you will pay their version of "market rate" which is much higher than the actual market rate. I called to explain myself to Robison and do not think that I was treated fairly and they were not willing to renegotiate my plan. (I also had a friend call in to check about oil prices for a new customer and they quoted him at the time in the $2.7 range yet i was still paying well over $3.00) Eventually, what ended up happening was that I cancelled my account and had to pay a $200 cancellation fee for getting ripped off on oil for several months. For those of you that live in the town of mount pleasant sign up to the FB group and look for other vendors, I actually several companies that are more honest and much fairer. read more

Funny I just read this review from N.I. We just went through the same nightmare with Robinson. We have a service contract for our old oil burner. We wanted to ask them for an estimate and a quote for replacing the old boiler. I called and talked to 3 agents to make sure the trip was under service contract. But they sent a tech to check out. When the tech showed up, he told me the trip was covered. At the end he wrote me a bill of 230 and said I need to sign it. I ended with the bill. We are very pissed. Robison recently acquired a plumbing business, Frank and Lynn D. We called to get a clogged toilet snaked. Told over the phone that there would be a $69 charge. Apparently that was just for stepping in the door. The plumber who came informed us that to snake the toilet the cost would be $357. He did offer to wave the $69 house call fee and upon seeing how shocked we were at the high price, he took off $50. The whole operation took him approximately 8 minutes. In our opinion that is an outrageously high price to pay for a relatively simple fix. I think a better idea would have been to buy a snake of our own!! BTW, we are Robison customers. No break for that. The technician did offer some good advice. He warned that flushable wipes should be used sparingly. Guess that was worth the high price! read more

Do never ever get the oil there, their service is horrible and they twist and change facts, so at the end you pay a lot of money. They do not even Monitore the oil and all the pre-payed service is wasted money.... At the phone they treat you like idiots and change facts. Please do not get your oil from them.
