Tom Henry Chevrolet - Outside of service drive

I'm not one to leave reviews, but I wanted to make sure that this doesn't happen to anyone else. On…read moreJune 19th 2019, I inquired about a used Corvette for sale on Tom Henry Chevrolet's website. The sales consultant, John Taliani, was working with me on this deal. After confirming the vehicle was available for $30,000 I was told to put a $1000 deposit on the car to hold it. Within the hour I had financing approved and paid for an inspector to go out next day to confirm the condition of the car. After numerous calls back and forth, John concluded the conversation telling me that he wanted to see if the dealership could match or beat my financing. Within two hours, I received a phone call from the used car sales manager, Ross Caruso, only to find out that the dealership ended up selling the car from underneath me. With John not returning my calls, I called Ross back to try and figure out why they sold a car that was on hold for me. Ross told me that "because I was sending an inspector the next day, the car couldn't be marked as sold and deposits on cars were for customers that were serious about buying the car, but just needed to get everything worked out". This didn't make sense to me so I asked if I could speak to the General Manager. I then spoke to the General Manager, Corey Holland ,who immediately informed me that "there was nothing I could do about the situation and that's just how the used car buying process is". I told Corey that I didn't understand why the dealership sold a car that I had a deposit on. Corey stated that they don't accept credit card deposits from out of state due to Pennsylvania state laws (which is non-existent) and then questioned me on if I really gave John my credit card information. Long story short, they sold the car that I had a deposit on from underneath me and poorly handled the situation. I have bought cars from out-of-state my whole life and have never dealt with a salesforce that was so unprofessional and deceiving. Out-of-state buyers should be taken just as seriously as in-state buyers. Tom Henry Chevrolet should be ashamed for operating in the fashion that they do. The process of purchasing a vehicle is weighted heavily on having trust in the dealership and its people that you are working with. Tom Henry Chevrolet completely failed the consumer and proved that their profit is more important than the customer. This dealership has failed on their own mission statement with the intent of "being treated like family". I strongly urge anyone looking to purchase a vehicle from this dealership to consider my experience before putting your trust in them.

The description on their page stated "very clean car". So I decided to check out the vehicle the next day. Arrived the following day. They have a bunch of "wow" and "awe" vehicles (H1 Hummer, Lifted 4x4's, Police interceptors, WS6's, LT1 wagons) all of which were overpriced but cool to look at nonetheless. After looking around we found a salesman up front and he showed us the car, which was around a building in the back. The car was in very poor condition, even for a 2004, trim pieces horribly faded, dents/dings on hood and doors, front bumper scraped, rear suspension rusted (volvos rarely rust), drivers leather seat cracking and extremely worn with a burn hole through it, center console lid broke. This was all observed within like 2 mins. Popped the hood and it looked like it sat in the desert for the last decade. Obviously told the guy I wasn't even going to make an offer. He scoffed at me and said he'll sell it. I was just really confused why they would put very clean car in the description, seriously makes me second guess their entire inventory. Update: their rebuttal to my review solidifies that they are deceptive and overpriced, avoid this dealer!

I contacted the dealership and got a quick response with pictures and a carfax of the vehicle. Bruce did a nice job explaining the history of the vehicle and I purchased the car without putting eyes on it as I live near St. Louis , I did have a friend near Pittsburg take a look at the car. There were a few things that didn't work as the car is 31 years old, however in great shape with only 23k miles. Bruce shared that information with me and the dealership was easy to negotiate with over the phone and included delivery to my home in the price. My experience was very good and I would recommend this dealership and would consider purchasing from them again. Bruce thanks for all your help.

The gentleman I spoke with was great and genuinely helpful. The woman I spoke with felt more dismissive, which took away from the experience. When I arrived for my pickup appointment, the rep helping me was friendly and handled everything smoothly. He even gave me recommendations for local mechanics to complete my PA state inspection. I had seen reviews saying some vehicles did not pass inspection, so I took mine in right away. It passed without any issues. My appointment was at 9 AM. By 9:30 there were three other clients waiting and only one rep working. It felt like a scheduling or staffing issue, but even with that I was only there for about an hour to an hour and a half. The truck itself was in good shape and matched the listing. The interior was the real disappointment. It was not detailed at all and placing two paper mats in the front row does not count. There was dirt on the dash and in the cupholders. Almost every hard surface has a white residue on it. Having worked in the automotive industry for six years, I would never let a client drive home in a vehicle that looked like that. I will either have to pay to have it detailed or do it myself, which should not be the case Carvana. The process was convenient and the truck was as described, but the lack of interior detailing and some service inconsistencies kept this from being a higher rated experience.
