Thanks for your follow-up response. Yes, you did offer a site visit. But your company also offered the same when we had the first problem and it took 5 MONTHS to come out. Unfortunately, there was no trust and the tone of the responses we received from your company gave us no reassurance things would be different this time. We had asked Roberts Roofing to at least cover material costs for the repair since the wrong items were used during the initial installation causing the separation and subsequent leaks. Roberts Roofing declined any resolution. This was the second time we had issues with the roof because of dishonesty and cutting corners during the initial installation. Are these cost savings shortcuts made because people can't see up on the roof to inspect the work? With two repairs already because the job wasn't done correctly the first time, it was probably worth the money out of pocket to at least know the job was done right this time by a reputable contractor. read more

This has to be long because that is awful they are! They think their clients are stupid. Here we go so on July 1st o signed a contract with them stating that I would pay them 10% upon signing ( I did) 30% upon materials and 60% upon completio and that my windows should arrive within 6 to 8 weeks of ordering. They came out measured and said Kevin owner would be out later that day to make sure one window wouldn't be an issue he did that. Chris called us next day informed us to get the permit windows were being ordered so I did cost me 250$. Now I've heard nothing it's been the 6 weeks I call to get an update see whats going on the women I spoke to think her name was Cathy informs me I owe them money there for windows haven't been ordered so I try telling her what the contract says upon materials. She then tells me that materials is when they measure ( am I only one didn't put this together) but they never called or sent email so I guess your just supposed to know you owe them money. Finally lady on has Chris sales guy call me he assures me no money is owed my windows are ordered and should be in next week and that he'd talk to office about contract. So week goes by nothing so following week I call back thinking soon be new window time again the lady in office insists I owe them money but now when I as about windows she say NOVEMBER (I get Rona hold) but she just doesn't say that she trlls me this is standerd time so I'm like I was I told 6-8 weeks which she then tells me is November let's add her July + 8 weeks is not November. I let her know I'm not stupid July + 8 weeks is not November she hangs up. I call Chris he explains issue I tell him I understand but don't like that lady acting like I'm dumb and telling me again I owe them money and would like to be kept informed of what's going on he says will do that was lastnight today that same rude woman calls and cancels my order. Promptly on November 16, 2020 his crew arrived at 9:00am and immediately started the job. The crew members were industrious, fast in the old shingle removal and with teamwork installed new plywood base, sheathing and then methodically installed my new roof. I signed a contract on Dec 30 for a small roof repair. As of today it has not been compleed. I could understand if we expierenced a storm and it was not possible, but that is not the case. IF someone answers our call, we get transferred around. Just today I have been pushed back 2 times! This is not a reliable company. It takes more than a bunch of signs to be dependable. read more

Its a very long story After they did my roof Came hurricane Sandy I had $5000+ in water damage My roof was fairly new I complained and they came to inspect my roof a week before Roberts checked it i hired someone to inspect my roof I took pictures myself After Roberts inspection they ripped me apart in a scathing note saying i didn't maintain my roof Well 1 they didn't replace some flashing They just ran a bead of caulk on it Also my incline to flat roof was against code Apparently this is a known problem that the 2 roof surfaces cause some chemical reaction This was pointed out to me BEFORE the 3 companies i got estimates saw my roof Roberts cut corners, didn't perform to code and ripped me apart trying to blame me ASSUMING I wouldn't go on my roof myself They never did warrantee repairs Stay awY from them They are crooks read more

So, I wrote my review describing how my experience, like the first poster, was one of empty promises and delays and, eventually, my problems not being big enough (read not enough $$$) for Roberts Contracting to honor their contract and bother showing up. Did Roberts contracting own up to their mistakes No, I just got an alert that there was a reply to my review OVER THREE YEARS after I left it. No Mr. Roberts - this a job you failed to do in Cornwall on Hudson because you didn't manage your business well enough or because you lied to customers. Again, the bottom line is that if you are a small job, Roberts Contracting will use you to fill up their calendar while they look for bigger jobs. Had this company come to my house to give me a quote for roof, siding, gutters and windows. The guy Joe O'Jea arrived ahead of schedule and proceeded to do his measurements and assessment. Before he left he told me to give him a few days and he would email me a quote. Problems is almost three weeks later I have heard nothing from this company, no email as promised. Not a good first impression I will not be doing any business with this company. read more

I agree with the others. This is one of the most unprofessional companies that I have dealt with and I have several things thing in my home. I wanted a partial roof done in the front of my home and flat roof in the back. When the appointment was scheduled, the office staff said they would only be able to install one roof. Since the issue was with the front partial roof, I told them to do that and cancel the flat roof because this job was supposed to be done in one day, not at the convenience of the company. It took writing a review on Google, Better Business Bureau, and the Attorney Generals office to get a final revised bill that did not include the flat roof, but only after I did all of these things. The flat roof was done December of 2018 and the company was told the day of the appointment that I was not going to install the flat roof because they said they would not be able to do it the same day. The work was contracted to have the two roofs done on the same day and the decided to change the contract and wanted me to be okay with that. While I was upset about this, after the issues I encountered with this company just installing a partial roof, I wanted nothing else to do with Roberts. I called the office several times in December and January asking for a final revised bill then I stopped because they kept trying to get me to complete the flat roof after I told them several times that was not going to happen. I paid $3000 to start this job and I had a balance which I was willing to pay because they did complete the partial roof, but there were issues. I received the revised final bill 2 weeks ago, which was over 6 months of waiting, and I paid it and owe Roberts Roofing and Contracting nothing. There is so much to this story, but hopefully, those reading this will proceed with caution if they are thinking about doing business with this company. read more

My experience was similar to the first poster. I had a roof and deck that I wanted repaired before the winter storms arrived. This company's price was originally much better than another company, but when I called to verify, they had "forgotten" to include the second part of the work in their bid. Once that was completed, they pushed hard to get me to sign thier contract and to take out a loan through a financing company they worked with. Since we needed the work done, we went with them and their contract, which they drafted. But the company was not specific about the date that they would be there to actually complete the work. Initially, this was understandable as their salesman said they were juggling end-of-season jobs. But they dropped off the face of the earth and only set a date after I called them several times. Then, they just didn't show up. Mind you, they didn't call to reschedule or cancel, they just failed to show up. They never came or called. When I called them about it, they said they'd arrange another date. I didn't hear from them until after business hours on Friday, telling me that they'd be there Monday - of course, someone would be home as they requested right? I told them that this was unacceptable and that I wanted to speak to the owner (who I had not dealt with yet). Of course, he wouldn't speak to me. Instead, a receptionist called me back and stated that they were cancelling the contract and would send my deposit back. They failed to verify whether the loan I took out had been cancelled, and, if it had, whether it had been closed reflecting that it was not my fault - so I have to dig into this possible hit on my credit myself. In a morbidly humourous twist, they recently sent me a card asking me to tell my friends and neighbors about them, so here I am. Bottom line, if you're a homeowner w/a small job (around $5000), you're just not important enough to them for this company to care. read more

I had called them early on a friday morning after the heavy snows of the day before. We had developed an ice dam on our roof and the roof had a lot of snow on it that we were unable to reach. The person I spoke to quoted a fee of $550 and told me that his crew would be at our house at 9am the next morning, sat morning. I snowplowed, shoveled and got ready for his crew. They never arrived. By 945 I called and left a message. At 10:30 they called and told me they were just delayed and he would call me right back with a time. By 12:45, no call yet. I called again. He explained they would definitely come, as he is very reliable, and would call when they were on the way. They never came or called. With a snow full of roof and a drip in the house, we lost all of saturday and didn't call another service, as he had told me they were reliable. The next day, sunday morning, now 2 days after I first called and 2 days of snow on the roof with an ice dam and a drip, I called again to see what happened. He said they were working on an emergency and would come today, Sunday. They apologized for not calling the day before (we waited at home all day). They said they would invoice me and call when on the way. They never called, or came, again. We have now lost another day waiting for Roberts, who had apologized and said they are reliable. We had told them we have a leak in the house from the ice dam and snow. They seem never to come or call to let you know they are not coming. I don't consider this to be at all reliable. We would have liked to have used them for roofing renovation later in spring if needed. We will not call them or recommend them to anyone else after this. I understand that there has been extraordinary show and roofs collapsing in the area is a possibility. Truly, we are all neighbors and are in this together. We were trying to prevent serious damage in our own house, as we already saw a leak begin. If they had been honest and said they could not come, we could have called another contractor days before, reducing the amount of damage being done in our home. They have not once called us, as promised, to let us know they aren't coming, and after 2 days and 3 times they were supposed to come, are leaving this review. We have not yet heard anything from Roberts and now have to start looking for rooftop snow removal al over again, having lost 3 days (with 3 days of dripping now working it's way from the roof to the first floor).
