Going back to when I was a fifth grader all the way to this year when I brought my own children into the store, the vibe is positive and cheerful. Predatory business, please beware. Roberts has deals with certain local schools where one can rent an instrument for their child. It seems like a wonderful idea for children trying to enter the world of music, it's also a wonderful opportunity for children who's parents may not have the money to outright purchase an instrument, especially if their child is still testing the waters. The problem is one year of trying an instrument with a school band will cost a parent the amount it would cost to buy the instrument their child wants to play. I understand the concept of renting, I also understand the concept of business and capitalism. My problem is the predatory nature pf preying on naive parents and children who have their backs against a wall when needed to provide an instrument for school band. They also prey on the indigent who cannot necessarily afford to front hundreds on an instrument. After dealing with them and calling them out on what really seemed liked a predatory business model (rent-a-center) they charged me half price for the rental. I gladly would've paid full price honoring the contract I signed but they did insist. I am not writing this review for myself, but the hundreds of families who have or will encounter this company. Please do research, buy secondhand, go somewhere else, just please avoid this business if possible. read more

I am writing this review in particular for the musicians, parents of musicians and in general anyone associated or involved with playing music on any level. No matter which category you fall in to we all share the need to keep our instruments in good playing condition. This is where Roberts Music in Warwick RI comes into play. When you take your instrument to Roberts for major a repair or just a minor tweak you can be assured that when you get it back it will play perfectly . Each technician at Roberts is a well trained and an experienced professional .The job is always done perfectly and you may even find like I did today that a minor issue that has gone unnoticed over time will be spotted right away and taken care of once its in their shop. Today I brought my Soprano Sax to Roberts and Jamie worked on it. When he was finished with it my he brought the Sax out to me and went over with me all the items that needed repair and that he fixed . The horn now plays like a new sax which really makes me happy and I was more than glad to pay my bill. I stepped up to the register and asked how much I owed and I thought the Owner Rob told me $50.00 which I thought was fair and glad to pay considering all the work Jamie did on the the horn .I gave Rob $50.00 and to my surprise Rob said its $15.00 not $50.00. How is it possible to get this type of service for such a more than fair price ? I don't know, but I do know that if you need anything related to any type of music, musical instruments, music books etc. do yourself a favor and head to Roberts. You will be glad you did. Robert's is solid. I'm a violinist/violin teacher and always recommend that my students go here to purchase books, strings, rosin, etc. They really have a decent selection of music and supplies for all types of instruments, it seems, and while I can't speak for their string instrument rentals, I know a lot band instrument renting goes on here for a reasonable price. Since they do have music and supplies spanning such a broad range, I tend to just order music offline from Shar but when I need a common book like Suzuki or a string in a pinch I always go here. Completely recommend everything about this place!! They have any music book your looking for, those that they don't have they are more then willing to order it for you!! They have many in's talents for sale and at an amazing price, they allow you to play it before ordering it, and if you don't like it, you don't need to pay a dime!! They repair almost anything! This is the best music store in the state. They have a great stock of instruments and music supplies, and what they don't have they will gladly order for you.
