On our visit, we had the pleasure of working with Craig, who was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I didn't think putting a pair of Look pedals on would be that difficult but when I got home I teamed they were on the wrong sides so had to do this myself. Very possibly the worst bike shop in queens. The owner is the worst and completely rude. Always has an attitude and doesn't know how to speak to customers. And besides the terrible service this place is extremely over priced. I do not recommend this bike shop. This shop is a joke...sorry to be so rude. But anyone who says this place is even decent is either a relative of the owner or a complete stooge. My most sincere apologies to the stooges out there - it must be tough with the death of your brothers (Mo, Larry and Curly) and all...sorry but you are a stooge... . Anyway, went in to buy a tube and some tire irons. The guy (owner) was leaning against the door looking out onto "Franie Lew" (the street on which this horrible place is located) and did not seem to want to let me in...it was snowing outside - hey thanks guy...did you just mumble behind my back "hey you kids get off my lawn..."? The guy grunted a few syllabus at me and it took him about three minutes to locate a tube and three tire irons (if you do not know what a tube is or what tire irons are - then you are indeed a stooge and I withdraw my apologies above). The guy was rude and I thought, "dude, if you do not like what you do, find something else to do with your life"...am I a wrong here? Why was I at this horrible place (that should in reality be replaced by a decent bagel shop)? They had not only sold my poor sister a crappy old lady's bike they had installed the rear tube/tire in such a way that the valve was pinched on the wheel and this caused a puncture to the tube. The tube had to be replaced. Ok for those of you who have no idea what this means..it is the moral equivalent of a hamburger joint serving a hamburger consisting of two patties surrounding a single half of a bun. i.e. it is ass backwards. if you cannot do this...you cannot run a bike shop. The long and short - avoid this place....it is a place that thrives on ripping people off who are trusting and do not know squat about bikes. I've lived half a block from this place for 5 years and have never bought a thing from them. I've tried, oh have I tried, but they make it impossible. First bike I bought, I stood in there for 20 minutes with one other customer in the whole place and no one even acknowledged me. Then when I finally got helped they were not friendly or informative and acted like I was inconveniencing them. Second bike I bought for my wife, we went in together and again stood there for more than 20 minutes without anyone even looking at us Talked about price because we found it cheaper and they were not the slightest bit negotiable. Both times we ended up driving 10 minutes away to make our purchases from Bellitte Bikes and Peak Mountain Bikes because they were both way more friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Today was the last straw. Walked in to buy a bike lock. They had a coupon on their website for 15% off accessories so I went in, showed it to them on my phone and tried to buy the lock. They wouldn't take my money. Coupon had to be printed and handed to them. I understand if its a 3rd party coupon and they need it physically, but this coupon was ON THEIR WEBSITE! How would you rather me walk out of your shop and buy somewhere else, then let me pay you cash money on the spot with a coupon that is ON YOUR WEBSITE. terrible. Never again. What a shame. read more

Avoid this bike shop. I went in get a vintage bike restored. The owner was very rude and kept repeating the same question - where's the technical damage? I don't know. That's why I'm bringing to a bike shop. Anyway, he finishes by telling me the bike has no damage BUT belongs in the garbage so we quick purchase a couple of bikes because there are people waiting to get into the shop (COVID restrictions) and spend $1100 but the salesman told me there was a 30-day money-back guarantee so I felt like we could go home and reflect a little more. The owner tells the salesman that it will take until Monday for the bikes to be ready to take home (!!) Now it's Thursday so that'll take 5 days!? So we go home, check online, find the same bikes much more cheaply priced at other places not to mention the bike I wanted to get restored easily restorable according to some shops I called around to and online for $1,000 or more. So the next day, Friday, 22 hours later, I called and said I didn't want the bikes after all. The owner tells me I'll have to pay $50 because they're already been assembled. I go back into the shop and tell the owner if they were already assembled why didn't the salesman tell me to come in the next day instead of five days after purchase. He pounds over on the floor and points up at a sign with some policy hidden among some junk on the wall. He did that twice by the way. When I said what about the 30-day policy, he laughed and said "on a new bike! no way." Then he refunded my credit card and threw it on the counter. What a rude person. I wanted to support a local shop but you get the same junk at the big stores only cheaper and very possibly with better service. He stole $50 from me but he lost what could have been a good customer. Don't go into this shop and, if you do, be extremely careful with any mention of refunds/guarantees. read more

Today was maybe my 5th time in my life going to Robert's for help with my bicycle in my 13+ years of living here. Every time I go in for parts, they give me a bad attitude and barely able to help me with bicycle problems. And older guy was actually helping me with my problem when a middle aged bigger guy intervened and told the older guy that they couldn't help me. Maybe it was because I didn't buy my bicycle there? Needless to say, I STILL haven't bought anything from this shop. I recommend Peak's in Little Neck for much better service and knowledge. read more

The staff seems to be fine. Many years back, I asked if they have some bolts for installing a bicycle rack. They were helpful and gave me some bolts without charging me. From my observation, the manager (the owner's son) put a lot of pressure on the staff to sell bicycles. I did not like the way the staff was treated. read more

I spent about $1000 on a cannondale. I later took it to an official cannondale retailer for a tune up and found out i was riding on fake parts. I called the shop up and the owners son, Big Bald guy, was very rude, and told me he is not entitled to give me all my original parts on the bike i paid full price for. I am a student and i use m bike to commute and work. I can't afford bad service and fake parts. If you want to take you're chances, good luck! read more

I found this place on craigslist originally looking for a specific bike on clearance. Turns out the bike was sold already. Since i was open to different models, Robert was able to assist me and answer all the questions i had about specific model. He was very honest in his suggestions and even worked out a phenomenal deal on a brand new 2014 Giant Revel 29". Very satisfied with my purchase, the prices are unbeatable. I was looking to purchase a new Mountain Bike and found that Roberts was fairly close to my apartment so I stopped in one night after work. From the moment I walked in I felt no pressure to make a purchase and the sales associate was very helpful even after I told him honestly that I was just doing my homework. I noticed that they had the bike I had my eye on for seventy dollars less than I had seen it in any other stores and decided to jump on it. When I went back the next night to pick it up they had placed cardboard on the frame to protect the paint job which I was very appreciative of and even threw in a water bottle holder. When I voiced my concern that my small Nissan Sentra wouldn't fit my new Giant Revel 1 I suggested that maybe I just purchase an inexspensive bike rack. The gentlemen ringing me up said "Let's see if we can't get it in there before you have to spend more money." I was shocked and appreciative that he did not jump on the chance to sell me more merchandise and he even put it in my car for me and showed me how to easily remove and reinstall the front wheel. The store has been open for more than 50 years so they must be doing something right! read more

UPDATE::: on the work Robert's did!!! Discovered ultra poor customer service and workmanship!!! Well when I requested that the tech took a look at my wheel and tires since I was getting a flat over and over... even with brand new tubes... they obviously did not check the wheel and inside of tire like I asked them to do. Instead, they just gave me back the bike and said nothing. I even called them (as the owner told me to do) the next day to speak with the guy to worked on it... but he said he forgot what bikes he worked on... I asked you to check out the wheel for a reason, just replacing the tube is something I Could Have Done Myself For Free. Sorry, I won't be recommending Roberts. read more

I have been using this store for the past 6 years and their service never disappoint me. I am a hugh fan of Bianchi bikes which they always have wide selection of. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable to help you to select the right bicycle depending on your riding style, purpose, body type, etc. When I visited the store because I got flat tire the store was packed with people, but they took me right in and put the new tube in within 10 minutes! Once I went on Robert's site, I saw that they were having a discounted sale on top brand road bikes. I walked in the next day and walked out with an amazing starter bike; Specialized Allez. Was looking for a bike and a friend told me to stop by here, as she purchased her bike here and had a good experience. I wasn't sure as to what was best for me and a staff member was friendly and helpful and did not pressure me into buying anything right away. Found a bike I loved and for a great sale price. Deposit option available; I put down $20 towards the bike and they put it together for me and I paid the remainder of the price when I came to pick it up. The selection isn't the largest, but for the small size of the store I was pleasantly surprised. Have recommended this place to a few friends looking for a new bike. i'm a bike virgin so needless to say i could be taken advantage of pretty easily when it comes to getting a new bike. but then again, i have the power of google and internet reviews. and we all love reading reviews by unqualified critics (amiright yelpers?) i already had my mind made up with a cannondal quick 6. they're currently having a sale and that was at my price range. for a quick comparison in bicycle stores: this was my third stop among bike stores. the first was metro bicycles in hells kitchen. they were knowledgable and friendly enough but didn't carry cannondales. tried to sell me on a trek 7.2 which is very similar and not on sale. they did let me test drive my bike tho. next stop, tony's bicycles in astoria. they were not friendly at all. plus their prices were higher than roberts because they didn't have anything on sale. so on to roberts, the salesperson was super friendly and knowledgeable. he only does this part time as he is normally a teacher. he didn't try to push anything on me and i felt comfortable leaving the store without buying anything after talking to him for over half an hour. that says a lot. but i was there to buy. somehow i talked myself into buying a quick 4 instead for about $180 more because of the color. the only negatives i have was that they didn't let me test drive the bike. how you gonna sell bikes without letting people know how they feel on it? nevertheless, great friendly bike store and great sale prices. roberts popped my cherry. read more

Was really great experience when purchasing a bike for my six-year-old. They found a bike that would fit him and he liked and were able to add training wheels with no problems. I have been buying tools and accessories from them for over 3 years, gave them over $900 worth of business. Just walked in with the intentions to buy my wife a comfort bike. I came here because I had great service the last time. Standing there for about 5 minutes and closely observing the 5 employees walking around. Not one acknowledged me at anytime. I still waited and gave them an opportunity to acknowledge me so I walked around the store. I'm 6 foot 350. You can't miss me. Also had my wife and 2 kids 4 year olds. They where ringing all the small bike bells. You would think they would of gave me a head nod. Or be with you in a minute. No nothing. Felt like a ghost. A family of 4 should be seen walking into this shoe box of a shop. I will take my $500 cash else where. Also was looking for a trailer to pull my kids on outings. I will take that $245 and also spend it where I am acknowledged and at least told be with you in a minute. I would of stood there 20 minutes while you deal with customers that where there before me. I wasn't very happy with the service I paid for. The person who took my bike in was not friendly, I had some detailed questions about my wheel and tire and they spent negative time answering my concerns. Yes... as I expected... when I picked up my bike from a flat repair with them, it went flat again in 30 minutes. Just poor workmanship and why I will never return. I brought it to a different bike shop and unlike Roberts, they took the time to diagnose my problem and fix it for real for me. Instead of taking my bike in and herding me away. these guys are awful...very shoddy work. i went in here for a simple tire change, first they installed in incorrectly and the tube came apart at the seam on the way home. when i went in and explained the issue the following day the owner pretty much interrogated me with 5 different questions trying to catch me in a perceived lie. when they finally agreed to fix it, they gave me my bike back with the front wheel not fully tightened which was extremely dangerous! stay away, prices high, bad service, potentially dangerous "repairs" read more

They just made my oldest son's year with a new BMX that was priced much better than those big sporting goods stores .
