The first time I went to Dr. Kelleher was in high school when I needed braces. He was so great about educating me on what I needed to do and why. I was a very inquisitive kid. I'm not trying to show off or anything but I had perfect teeth after my braces and never felt the need to hide my toothy smile. 10 years later, I was in an accident that broke practically half the bones in my body - my jaw was in 4 pieces. After I healed, my bite was a tragic under bite and my teeth were completely misaligned. Two of the orthodontists I went to told me it would take a series of surgeries and jaw realignment to fix it even a little bit. Mind you, this was 2 months after I had just gotten my jaw unwired from the accident and able to eat soft foods again, I was still in pain and learning how to use my jaw again. It wasn't really the option for me. Dr. Kelleher is no longer covered under my insurance but I went back to him for a consultation because I have a working history with him and trust him. He is an honest man. The best thing about him is that he WILL say no or he will tell you the absolute truth. His patients are more important to him than the money and that's highly apparent and appreciated. During my consultation, he told me that to get my bite back to 100% pre-accident I would need the surgeries. However, he took x-rays and molds and said he would think of a plan should I want to present that to another orthodontist under my network. A week later he showed me his plan, told me that might get me back to 85% but not a full 100%. No one else had even thought to be creative enough to give me options, he was the first one willing to put in the extra thought and effort to show me alternatives. One year later, my bite and smile are actually almost back to normal! He was impressed as well and extremely encouraging considering my situation. The entire staff is also extremely knowledgeable and answers all questions with detail! Healther, Rose and Jeanette make me feel as though I'm with friends and every interaction is comfortable and professional! Specifically, I want to say that they are considerate during x-rays and adjustments; no rough pushing or pulling. It's a weird thing to point out but I've experienced it before so I have to highlight how sweet, gentle and professional everyone is. Needless to say, these were all factors in my coming back to Dr. Kelleher. They've worked with me for the payment plan and everything, considering I wasn't under network with them. They're the BEST! I've referred my mom and other friends because I trust this entire team tremendously! read more

I wasn't going to write this bc sh*t happens. Sometimes you and a business don't work out. That's ok. But when I was leaving and Dr. Kelleher told me 'good luck in life' as though my life is so awful I need his luck... here we go. One star for always getting me in quickly. That's great. I have an odd schedule so it's hard for me to see anyone. My first appointment ...they accidentally double booked my time slot and the tech rushed. She was actually told me she needs to hurry up bc she needs to see the other patient and she would have to work On me and him at the same time. What? She didn't even assess me fully and I had to point out things she missed bc she was rushing so hard. She 'fixed' my permanent retainer very poorly and told me it's 'normal' for food to eat stuck between my permanent retainer and teeth which IS NOT NORMAL. I had to come back a second time bc the retainer was cutting me over and over which never happened until she tried to 'fix' it. They took down my permanent retainer and made me a clear retainer. The clear retainer was such a poor fit I had to come back a third time at which point the Dr just said since I'm so frustrated why don't I go somewhere else? Why did I need to drive 25 minutes for that? Just tell me that over the phone? Kudos to the guy for cutting his loses but what a crappy ride to get there. Also it was all whatever to me at this point bc I'm sure they weren't trying to fail so hard, they're just not good at their job but whatever it's not malicious but then came through 'good luck with life'. Do you think my life is crap bc I had the audacity to be displeased with your service? Bc I had the nerve to speak up? Is it not ok for a woman to be frustrated so you think any woman who's not quiet and meek must be a miserable b*tch she needs you to wish her luck in LIFE? I called you out on your poor skills. That's not on me. I should be wishing you luck in your continued 'attempts' at being an orthodontist. Sir I am killing it at life. I wish I could say the same about your ability to be a medical professional. EDIT: they told me it's not normal to have an upper permanent retainer. Called another practice, they said is for sure normal. DO NOT TRUST THEIR 'MEDICAL' ADVICE. SECOND EDIT: the receptionist basically refused to run my dental insurance saying they're not going to cover it so why even bother. Why not try? Second practice said they would for sure run it. *I hope you all noted that through out my interact w him he never apologized for the subpar service. Instead he just said...we are busy. I can see why Dr. Kelleher has such great reviews after my initial visit yesterday 1/20/22. Not only is he a straight shooter, nice and well thought out orthodontist, but his whole staff is incredible. From the front desk to the technicians they all just work great together ensuring the patients are well taken care of. It's very rare to find, but when you do, you don't want to go anywhere else. Not only that but I've noticed Dr. Kelleher checks, values and responds to his reviews on Yelp. That's almost unheard of today. Usually they have corporate or assistants to do that and rarely do they respond but this office makes sure to do so. I just wish we came to him sooner before we move out of state. Finishing up my second round of ortho with Dr. Kelleher. I'm a dental hygienist in town and I send all my patients here. Bonus, he has a lower fee for retreats (for people like me who didn't wear their retainers) I've never seen a bad result from this office, he is a master of his craft. I'm a very picky person when it comes to my teeth and he's been very patient with me and my ridiculous requests to move my teeth micro millimeters. read more

i have nothing but good things to say about Dr Kelleher. The care he takes with each patient is amazing. He explains everything and all your options. His practice is totally up to date with the latest equipment. He even has 3D ex Ray machine. This lets him see all of your teeth, jaw, bite all in 3D so he may give the best care. He can see it all. I had two previous consultations with orthodontists before I went to see Dr. Kelleher's office. Both consultations told me I needed braces or Invisalign to correct my smile, which would be a two year process minimum. As someone who wore braces for over three years as a teen (but never got their retainer), Invisalign was not something I was prepared to invest in. Dr. Kelleher took the time to educate me on why Invisalign would benefit me best, but after listening to my concerns, he agreed to try an alternative method. He put together some 'old school' device and warned me it would be a painful process and still may not give me the results I was looking for. It took three weeks (with very minimal pain) and my teeth moved back into position. THREE WEEKS to straighten my smile and achieve exactly what I was looking for. Dr. Kelleher saved me roughly $2,000 and over a year and a half of discomfort. He is super honest, personable, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable of the industry. He listens to his patients and is realistic about finding a method that works best for the individual. The entire staff is friendly, welcoming, and very helpful. They are flexible with payment, scheduling, and I've never had to wait after checking in for an appointment. I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Kelleher and his staff for providing such a outstanding experience from start to finish and for giving me confidence in my smile! Before I found Dr. Kelleher I had two other consultations, and they only offered Invisalign for at least 18 months. I had braces and Invisalign for around 9 months and was great solution for me. I'm really happy with result. That's why I referred Dr. Kelleher to my family and friends. read more

I had braces TWICE with Dr. Kelleher. Once in junior high and once in college. After the first time, my teeth became crooked even though I followed my retainer instructions. But he would later tell me it was because I didn't follow them. The second time around my set was heavily discounted because it was a small change and I had already had them before. Dr. Kelleher was very intimidating and pressured me to get my braces off even though my teeth weren't straight. I knew at the time they weren't perfect and should've stood up for myself. That's on me. I just kept thinking that he would clearly see the crowding on the one side of my smile and make the change. But I believe that since I was there cheaply, he wanted me out of his chair as quick as possible. Now when I go to the dentist, they clearly notice the crowding when I tell them I'm not happy with my smile. My smile is okay but the thing that bugs me is that my teeth feel more crooked than they look on the outside. The other huge problem that happened when I went to see Dr. Kelleher is my retainer. My retainer did not fit properly in my mouth. I thought at the time of receiving my retainer that it looked different than my first but trusted in his work. It was sloppy work. After faithfully wearing my retainer as I should have, my gums started to recede. The clear part went way above my gum line where it should not have been. I cut my retainer and sanded it down where it should be but the damage was already done. I didn't know this would happen to my gums. Your retainer should never be pressing on your gums and I was unaware of this. Now years later, I still have crooked teeth and now a gum line issue that my dentists have to watch very carefully. I wish I had pictures of where my retainer stopped and had pushed my gums away. It was very evident that my retainer did the damage from where my gums receded to and where the retainer hit my gum line. I know that your gums can recede after braces because of the muscles moving but this is not the case in my story. Anyway, long story short I would not recommend this orthodontist to anyone. I'm happy to see many people have had good experiences but I did not. read more

I went to about 10+ orthodontists in the area before going with Dr. Kelleher for braces. He is extremely knowledgeable in his field and went above and beyond to make my case work. Most of the orthodontists I saw wanted me to get corrective jaw surgery, but Dr. Kelleher was able to fix my teeth without surgery. The atmosphere inside the office makes you feel very comfortable, and the whole staff is so pleasant. I'm actually a little sad that I don't get to see them every month anymore. I met with the doctor and he sat down with me and gave me a consultation and provided options that would be lucrative for him and not me (patient). Dr Kellehers office is really friendly, organized, and professional. I had treatment there years back and now my daughter is in treatment. Dr K explained all options and what to expect with the outcome of my daughters mouth. Full x-rays were taken so I had a visual during my consultation. Dr k wasn't rushed during the consultation and answered all my questions. appointments are always available when we need them and we are never waiting for our appointment time. I live 30 minutes from Folsom but it's worth the drive. I have two more kids that will need braces and this is where I will bring them. read more

We visited Dr. Kelleher for orthodontic evaluations on my two teenage sons after finding out he was a preferred provider for our insurance plan, Delta Dental, and after seeing the positive reviews here. Dr. Kelleher was very thorough in his explanation of his treatment plan and recommendations and I appreciate how he drew diagrams to illustrate and answer my questions. I also appreciate his conservative approach, not recommending costly unnecessary procedures but rather giving us options and letting us decide. His office manager Jeannette was extremely helpful in explaining how our insurance makes its payments, allowing us to realize the urgency of getting our nearly 18-year-old started in time to avoid losing 1/2 of his coverage (as he loses eligibility at age 19). We ultimately chose another provider a little closer to home that we also liked but appreciated the time and attention Dr. Kelleher's office provided. Prices are reasonable and I would definitely recommend Dr. Kelleher, especially for those who have Delta Dental orthodontic coverage. read more
