Hardly any wait time. Rebecca Kane, AuD, CCC-A Audiologist took me in first to check my hearing. She is definitely a professional caring nice young lady. She was very patient with me when I could not get the headset to stay on. She realized I was very nervous and could not been more calming. Dane M. Barrett, MD is a very nice young man. Extremely overbooked with nowhere to put me that had the microscope he needed which was not his fault. He had to sneak me into somebody else's room long enough to use the equipment. That's just piss poor on DUKE, Not him. He did not let that stand in his way, nor would he let me leave before checking both ears Thoroughly. I will not go anywhere else because of the staff and doctors. Dr. Barrett is still following up on my ear problems until he fixes the issue. I like a doctor that will not give up or make me feel like residual income for Duke

If this had 0 stars I would have chosen that. I recently went to see a specialist and ended up with…read morean appointment with PA Jenalyn Kay Logan. My health problems were diminished and she was not respectful whatsoever. At one point during the visit I had a question and started to speak when she held up her pointer finger and said "I'll give you your attention in a minute". She had poor communication and undermined my concerns. She was condescending and made me feel so uncomfortable that I had to seek elsewhere for care. My primary care doctor disagreed with the consult and recommended a second opinion. You would think a specialist would be able to help. I could go into more detail about the actual medical treatment I got that was unnecessary and repetitive making my pharmacist even second guess giving me medication but I'll leave it at this. On top of this, the Duke Risk Management department is so degrading and does not care about their patients and how they are treated. They disregarded the entire situation not willing to do anything about it. The only thing they could say to me was "I'm sorry but it stands as is" I love my DUKE Primary Care Doctor however after experiencing this awful encounter with the DUKE ENT as well as their Risk Management Department...specifically David, I will never be going there again. I will also be telling my family and friends not to waste their time and money.

I went to Dr. Jones a couple of years ago. I am needing a specialist right now for another issue…read moreand my family doctor recommended Dr. Jones again, not remembering that they sent me to him before. He is the only game in town other than UNC. I asked for a different referral and will never go back to this person again. The front staff was very nice. I expected a similar experience with the professionals. Apparently, Dr. Jones' nurse or assistant was out for the day, unexpectedly, and he had to do the preliminary procedures before. (Maybe she quit..) I have never been treated so unprofessionally in my 50 years of going to providers for any reason. He needed to put a scope down my nose. Prior to my appointment I had assumed it was going down my throat because I had a throat issue. I was not prepared for my nose to be a part of this and not told what was going to happen even while in the appointment. He just came at me with no explanation. He lunged the cord at me and told me to "blow out" which is counter-intuitive when a tube is being shoved down your nose. I said, "Wait why my nose" He said, "How else would you have me do this. I don't have time" I choked on the first try, and I asked for just a minute to prepare myself and he yelled at me. He yelled! He said that he "Listen! I don't have time for this" and that [ I ] "needed to do this right this minute or to get out." I am not exaggerating. I wish I were. He grabbed the back of my neck and then my nose in one hand and used the other to get the tube down. I was gagging. I should have reported him, but all I wanted was to get out. He then said, "I don't see anything. I will let your doctor know." And he pulled the tube out; threw it in the trash and left. I sat there for a few minutes. I didn't know if I should leave or what to do. I asked the front staff. They came back and were very nice and said that my exam was completed. Maybe he will be different now or maybe he is better with a witness in the room, but no one should ever be so unprofessional no matter how bad a day they were having. I am extremely worried about how he would be when I need to be under anesthesia. If he was horrible while fully awake, can you imagine if a patient was under anesthesia. No thanks.
