They made me feel at ease with every step. This was the same with Dr. Park that I saw virtually twice for my consultation and follow up. Everyone wants to care and you can feel it. Minus one star for the blood pressure machine fiasco. I told one of the medical assistants to use a manual cuff as I always run high on the automatic cuff. And I was high and in some pain, so next time I will ask them to give me some time and take it manually. Also, I hope they upgrade their water fountain in the lobby--it kept spraying me in the face--smile.

I had a healthy, successful pregnancy from my very first IVF and 3 remaining genetically normal embryos remaining after I moved to the state. At my first implantation, the doctor asked about the gender (we had 2 males and 1 female remaining. We implanted the female). The doctor said "another girl? What are you going to tell your son one day?" Doctor, that's none of your business. That implantation ended in a miscarriage. For the next two [failed] implantations, my doctor added different medications saying "at this point, the studies are all voodoo, so why not try." She knows more than me so I trusted her, which I shouldn't have done. She tested my thyroid and gave me medication but never told me how important it is to take thyroid medication separate from other medicines. I realize she's not an endocrinologist, but if you prescribe it, you should give the warning. At one point I was taking over 11 pills and a shot. She also assumed that adding more estrogen was the answer and my levels were skyrocketing. Again, I'm not the doctor. As I said, both my implantations failed. I know that IVF is never a guarantee. And I don't completely fault the facility, however, in my journey to expand my family I feel like I wasted a year at Carolina Conceptions. New to the area, I thought it was my only option. It's not.

After consulting my OB/GYN, I learned the procedure is irreversible based on my records (significant cauterization and ablation). They gave me false hope and completely took advantage of my husband (discharged honorably from the military) and me. I provided the clinic with the full operative report showing the extent of the damage, but they initially resisted a full refund and only offered 50%. They eventually reviewed the records but the experience left me feeling the process prioritized speed and payment over thorough patient suitability. Future patients should get independent medical advice and full records reviewed before paying. The clinic's cancellation policy is strict even when the surgery isn't medically feasible.

By the time my husband and I landed at UNC Fertility, we were exhausted, depressed, and very short…read moreon hope. Since 2004 we'd been struggling with infertility. In the early days we'd visited a clinic in Greenville, NC, and were told after only a short span of expensive, painful testing and medication that we'd need IVF. As a young married couple, the exorbitant price tag was completely beyond our scope, so we put the idea on the back burner for several years. When we decided that the time was right to pursue our family building again, we changed to a well-known practice in Raleigh. While the staff was nice enough, the fact that we saw a different doctor (who did not seem to know our history) every time we stepped through the doors was not a point in their favor. They suggested injectable meds with timed intercourse. After only three unsuccessful cycles, our insurance company informed us that our lifetime maximum for infertility medications had been reached. We were again counseled that IVF was our best option, even though our diagnosis was unexplained infertility. But while we were trying to figure out how to afford such expensive treatment with no insurance coverage, we got a call from one of the doctors. My BMI was too high, according to their clinic's rules, and unless I lost weight, they would not do IVF. Apparently the thirty pounds I'd lost on my own, with healthy diet and exercise prior to that phone call, wasn't enough for them, despite the evidence I'd found showing that there wasn't a functional difference in outcomes for someone of my BMI. In desperation I spent over $600 on their recommended diet plan, with trendy supplements and a starvation-level limited calorie and food diet. After two weeks on the program, I'd only lost two pounds, and physically I was run down, weak, and almost unable to function. That was the last straw. We began looking for a different clinic. And then we found UNC Fertility. The third clinic, in our case, was the charm. From the time we walked through the doors, everything was different. The tone of the place is hopeful, positive, and kind. And when we sat down with Dr. Fritz, the differences were astonishing. He'd actually read the reams of medical records we'd had sent over prior to the appointment, instead of skimming them while we sat there like every other doctor seems to do. He asked specific questions about our histories, about our medical conditions that didn't directly affect our fertility, but could affect our future children. He explained to us why the treatments we'd had before had done little--or nothing--to increase our chances of conception. And then together, we came up with a plan of attack. We were in his corner office for that first appointment, with him, for at least forty-five minutes. Not once did he rush us or make us feel like he had a schedule to keep. It was as if the only thing he wanted was to help us achieve our goal--to become a family. I'm tearing up now remembering it, because it is that special to us. Through UNC Fertility's incredible ATTAIN program, we finally were able to take the IVF gamble. It felt much safer than the one-and-done payment cycles that most clinics offer, because we had the security that even if our first attempt failed, we'd have more FET and fresh cycles to try. Through the IVF process, we were constantly supported by the UNC staff. There was a nurse that was MY nurse. Wendy would email me to check on me, I could send her questions, call her if I was unsure of something. She was my contact, my safety net, and I swear she's earned her angel wings. Dr. Fritz oversaw everything that happened during our cycle, even though we did see other physicians in the practice, all of whom were kind, knowledgeable, and caring. And then we got the phone call from Dr. Fritz, only a few hours after our HCG blood draw. "How are you?" "I'm nervous," I said, my voice shaking. "How are you?" "I'm wonderful, because it is my great pleasure to tell you that you are pregnant, young lady." Dr. Fritz performed our first ultrasound a few weeks later, and his grin when he saw our twins on the screen was as wide as my husband's. "Graduating" to the OB clinic was so very bittersweet. I can honestly say that if Dr. Fritz and his staff would deliver the babies they helped us create, I'd still be there! He, and Wendy, and the front desk staff, and the other nurses and doctors all were such an important part of our lives, and we will never be able to express our gratitude enough. We heartily recommend UNC Fertility, and especially Dr. Fritz, to anyone in the area needing diagnostic testing or infertility treatment. There are other options in the area, but none of them could be any more caring, knowledgeable, or kind than this practice. With all our gratitude, Gina and Scotty Lamm (and the twins)

The chances of conceiving are presented in averages of people over lifetime and don't actually have anything to do with your potential outcomes. Per patient, the chances of conceiving are less than 5% per cycle and 15% per fertile lifespan compounded by age, tube length left, and overall health. The 55% to 85% chance you're given to sign up for surgery is not a real statistic pertaining to you, its the number they came to averaging all their patients and the few positive outcomes versus the typical outcome. 5% is far lower than what you want to hear. I'm in the 1.5% per cycle realm and would never have done this had I known the way the statistics are manipulated prior to. Of course it's a business, their goal is to get you in the door and their fine print means you can't do anything but continue feeding the fertility dragon or quit trying. Taking advantage of people who would pay with an arm and a leg for a baby is rather disgusting. I can't even get my actual doctors to do imaging or even prove my tunes are even connected and functioning and not scarred over because they say to call the doctor who performed surgery who returned my call with call your ob. There's no continuity of care. They do not care what your outcome is. They get your money and never see you again. These doctors sell false hope wrapped up in overexaggerated success rates. Save yourselves the trouble and do ivf not tubal reanastomosis and don't go here. While great, there really should be consequences to falsely advertising parenthood and wasting precious time for people they ultimately could care less about. Point proven in that we're all practically anonymous and unmemorable to these doctors. They see new paying people daily and don't have time for follow ups. Your surgical follow up isn't even dolled up in concern. Its simply oh you're alive, great, read your op report in pieces and have a nice day. I had to do my own research with other fertility doctors just to understand the actual odds of getting pregnant after this surgery and its misleading to say the least. I would recommend adoption before this route. At least then you understand the heartbreaking avenue you chose to go down when disappointment arises and there is an actual chance of something happening for you. Plus you won't get angry when you call the doctors who cut you open for the next steps or even just confirmation you are still good and they tell you to call someone else. The doctors words are so short and to the point you feel stupid for asking questions anyways. Its been almost a year and I wish we hadn't gone here. I saved up to do this for years and I hope I can save enough for adoption or ivf before I age out of the desires. Even if I got pregnant tomorrow, I'd feel the same. You start the journey thinking it'll be exciting and full of support only to realize you're alone and out thousands to figure it out by yourself.

My first pregnancy was rough--I had extreme morning sickness (hyperemesis gravidarum), developed gestational high blood pressure that turned into pre-eclampsia, and ended up having to be induced early. So when I got pregnant again, I knew I wanted to do something different. I started seeing LeAnne around 8 weeks, and wow--she completely transformed my experience. This time around, I still had some morning sickness, but nothing like the first pregnancy. She gave me tools, daily practices, and nutritional support that actually helped me manage it. Then, when my blood pressure started creeping up again, I saw her weekly for BP support, and my midwives and doctors were shocked that I was able to avoid blood pressure medication. At 37 weeks, I did labor prep acupuncture with her, and it made a huge difference. Even though I ultimately chose to be induced (because of my history and borderline protein levels), I went in already 4 cm dilated, 80% effaced, and barely needed any Pitocin. I checked in for my induction at 7 PM, started Pitocin at 10 PM, and had my baby at 6:45 AM--such a smooth and positive birth compared to my first. I'll definitely be seeing LeAnne again when we start trying for another baby. Her support throughout pregnancy was amazing, and I know she'll be just as incredible for fertility support and ongoing wellness. If you're pregnant (or trying to be) and dealing with morning sickness, high blood pressure, or just want to feel more supported throughout pregnancy, go see LeAnne. I seriously could not have done this without her. 10/10 recommend!

I am currently 12 weeks pregnant (further than I've ever been before) and I attribute my health & the health of the baby to the treatments I have received from Dr. Dishman. She is always very thorough, pays attention to every detail & provides helpful, encouraging advice always at the perfect moment. Every time I brought up an issue I was having, the answer was always to add another supplement to my already huge arsenal. I actually think the amount of supplements I was taking was actually taxing my body and my digestive system further. I also didn't like that the first time I emailed her, I got a message back saying she might charge me to respond to that email and any future emails. I understand her time is limited, but possibly getting charged for emailing a question was a deterrent for me in asking questions and seems a bit unethical. My biggest complaint, however, was her demeanor. I found her attitude to be rude, condescending, and arrogant. Eye-rolling during an in person appointment once. The worst was the time I was having a phone consult with her and she went over this long list of treatments she wanted me to start, and at the end, I asked, just to make sure, if all of them were ok for me to take while breastfeeding. Apparently, she either forgot (even though we discussed it at my initial intake) or neglected to check her notes before writing her recommendations. She reacted by getting flustered first, then actually said to me, "Well I guess you could have stopped breastfeeding by now" as if that was an excuse! And it's not like she even asked if I was still nursing! If I hadn't asked, I might have paid for and started taking things unsafe for my baby. I was horrified. If I hadn't been so desperate for help, I would have definitely stopped seeing her right after that. Another time, she refused to give me lab results until I scheduled an appointment with her. She also asked me once to get lab tests that I had already paid for and done, and we had even emailed about it. Again, just not checking her notes in advance. I dreaded my appointments with her, she gave me anxiety to be around because of her aggressive nature, and I got the feeling she was mostly concerned with making money and not taking care of her patients. I never got the impression she really cared. No bedside manner whatsoever. She has since moved out of Raleigh to join another practice and the only communication about the move was via several long, convoluted, poorly written emails. I was surprised at the level and style of communication from someone who has so many advanced degrees. She never mentioned the move to me in person. I just thought it was odd. It came across like she couldn't wait to get out of NC. I'm so glad I made the decision to stop seeing her and wasting my time and money. I have had much better, long-lasting, less expensive success with acupuncture and Chinese herbs.
