From the moment I step foot into the building, I am greeted with warm smiles and lovely greetings. The check-in process is efficient; I receive a pager that directs me to the appropriate registration station, making the process seamless and quick. At the registration desk, I am welcomed with more smiles. They have my bracelet and itinerary ready, ensuring I know exactly where to go. I am always on the 3rd floor, where the warm smiles continue. The check-in process there is quick, and I have never experienced such efficiency and attentiveness in any other medical facility. When I am called back, I am met by the most caring nurses. No patient wants to be here given their diagnosis, but every single person in this building makes each visit a positive experience. When I first found out I had cancer, I was terrified to step foot in the building, but from my first visit, everyone made me feel like their priority. The staff is kind, compassionate, and they make you laugh. Most importantly, they genuinely care about you. During my visits, I find myself laughing, crying happy tears, and connecting with others who have been in my shoes. My entire team genuinely cares about me, and I can feel it. If anyone is in search of a cancer institute, you have to come here. I can promise you that you will not be disappointed.

It's a rather contemporary facility and pleasant contemporary atmosphere with plenty of seating. It works sort of along the lines of a Cleveland clinic, conveyor belt style or a one-stop-shop. It was my husband's first visit here and first time in a meeting the doctor. Everyone is super friendly and helpful, starting with the guards who check you in right on through to the doctor. It seems very nice but only time will tell if it's a place my husband wants to stay for his health care. I say this because it's different from the typical doctor office that you might be used to simply because it's a very large medical facility housing a lot of doctors staff and visitors with a lot of hustle and bustle.

The tumor was so big that it had gone through the stomach lining. I had gasterectomy and very aggressive chemo therapy. I lost over 100 pounds and got very weak but Dr Varki was so caring, gave me and my spouse hope and never gave up, even though I had. She would not let me give up and always said that I would beat the cancer and get well and I did. She is fantastic. I met so many people in her office with amazing stories of how Dr Varki saved her life, even doctors. My doctors all told me that she was the best and I know that she totally is. Some patients had gone to other doctors and cancer centers and were misdiagnosed but when they went to her she found exactly what was wrong with them and saved them. I met other patients that had come from Alaska, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Bahamas, Mexico, Canada, etc. She has patients that come to her from all over the world and she takes excellent care of all her patients. She really cares. I owe my life to her, thank and love her.

When I saw these reviews, I wanted to steer clear, but decided to go since she works with my…read morereferring doctor. Dr. Astarita was sweet, but her practice is a hot mess. I should've found a different hematologist. I would NOT recommend going with this hematologist. I am in the process of collecting my records from past doctors to get my history for an upcoming specialist appointment. For all the other doctors, I simply went online and downloaded my records. She's the ONLY one who doesn't keep online records. When I called to request the records, I stated what I was calling for in English, in a very obviously American accent, and the lady proceeds to speak to me in rapid-fire Spanish. To which I responded, "I am speaking English. English, please." She switched to English, but her English was so poor that I could barely make out what she was communicating. She even switched back to Spanish again at another point. I'm sorry, this is a medical office and accuracy and communication are very important. To have someone in a patient-facing position who can't even communicate with the English speakers is ridiculous and insulting to your non-Spanish speaking patients. Anyone in a patient-facing role should be required to speak a sufficient amount of English to conduct the business of their role. That's not the only issue. In response to my request, she said I needed to make an appointment to get my results (mind you, this is from labs from 2023). This seemed strange so I decided to call back to speak to main person who transferred me to her. But when I called back, she picked up the phone. I kept asking her to speak to the first person and she refused, maybe she didn't understand me. I don't know. So, I told her I was calling because I wanted to find out why I'm being asked to make an appointment when I am simply requesting records. She went on in her broken English to basically scold me about "never, never" following up with them. Like, seriously, she was going on and on, saying "never" like 10-15 times. I don't know what her issue was. I explained that I didn't get called back to the office (in which case you assume the results didn't show any issue). And she continued to go on and on. Basically saying it was my responsibility to follow up. I ended up having to hang up because she wouldn't let me speak. All of my current doctors have been with the current times in terms of modern record-keeping and quality patient service for at least the past decade and a half. They follow up with you and/or schedule follow up appointment before you even leave. You can track your care online. Dr. Astarita's office has abysmal patient services and care management is 0/10. If you want to deal with aggressively rude staff that may or may not speak your language and have your healthcare fall through the cracks, this is the place to go. Now I'm just hoping that my results didn't show any cause for concern. Fortunately, I'm seeing a highly rated specialist next week. I'm never not listening to reviews again! Avoid like the plague.

And Made me wait like two weeks for surgery even though I only have 1 kidney and it's jammed by big stone ..I asked him isn't time of the essence because of the solitary kidney ? He said "you'll be fine". Day of surgery after waiting and waiting someone from Aventura Hospital cancelled surgery after already being on the surgical table and had been drugged twice. I got up off the surgical table in the OR and drove myself to memorial hospital in renal failure. I will never understand how he can practice medicine like that. I acquired an acute kidney injury which has left me with compromised renal function and I had to have specialized surgery to remove damaged part of ureter because of damage the stone made on the ureter. I was forced to have my ureter resected and reconstructed because of the trauma from the stone and the length of time it was allowed to stay stuck . I would not recomendad Aventura hospital since the OR cancelled surgery abruptly because the ceiling was collapsing while I was on the surgical table. Just So you understand, the hospital called me the day before the surgery to cancel it because they lost the lazer to be used for surgery. Only to be called back 30 min later saying they had found the lazer and the surgery was back on. I know it sounds crazy but this happened to me a year ago and I never wrote a bad review nor sued the Dr. nor the Hospital but now I receive a bill in collections from Dr Levin for like $88. So you get the scathing review above. Dr. Levin, Sir, You suck! And so does Aventura hospital.
