I have been a patient of Dr. Argentieri for over 6 years. Over the years my experience has been mixed. On the one hand I always had a good experience with the hygienists and there have been few issues with insurance. I used to see Dr. Bunin who I thought was great but he left to go to another firm. Initially, I did find Dr. Argentieri to be somewhat abrasive, however, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, and I have always gotten along with him just fine. Both my husband and I have had extensive work done there and would get my teeth cleaned twice a year. They always took the time to take my blood pressure and it always felt like they cared about their patients. Until recently. I had an appointment for a regular cleaning but I had to cancel it because I had to work at the last minute. I am a real estate agent and I was called to show a house about an hour away the same morning of my appointment. I was not going to be able to get back in time for my appointment. It was an impossible situation because my client works at night so she was not going to be able to view the home in the evening and she couldn't schedule it for another day. I tried. Karen, whom I had never met before, was rude to me over the phone. She told me that since it was inside 24 hours (it was about 20 hours), I would be charged a missed appointment fee. In six years I was NEVER charged a missed appointment fee. NEVER. I'm sure it must have happened at least once due to the nature of my job, but I had never been charged for it. I was stunned. She would not talk to me, she just kept repeating the same thing over and over again. I live about 5 minutes away so I drove over there to speak to her directly. I could not believe I was being treated that way after being a patient for so long. She showed ZERO understanding about my job and could not answer why, after six years I was suddenly being charged this fee. I wasn't even aware that there WAS a missed appointment fee because I had never been charged one before. I tried to be reasonable with her. TBH, I just wanted her to tell me that they would not charge me this time, since there was no warning, but with the understanding that going forward, I would be charged, but no. She just kept repeating that it was policy and insisted that I would be charged for it. She had no regard for how long I'd been a customer nor how much $ we'd spent there over the years. It was really disgusting the way she treated me. THEN, to make matters worse, she told me that she was cancelling all my future cleaning appointments and that the only way they would see me again is if I came in as a walk in. (This woman does not know the meaning of negotiation nor goodwill.) This happened several months ago but I was prompted to write this review because my husband (we are separated) recently had work done there and the bills still come to the house. I noticed that the $110 charge is still on the bill, so it reminded me of what happened and that there has obviously been no resolution. I was very comfortable and happy going there for over six years, happy with Drs. A and C and the two hygienists that I have seen over the years. But Karen ruined everything for me. read more

Great dentist and friendly office staff. I ended up here after having excruciating pain in my mouth for a weekend. Not having a regular dentist, I googled dentists and this is the first place I called. The receptionist was so nice- definitely the reason I chose this dentist. I explained my pain and she assured me they would take care of it. After calling at 8 on a Monday morning, they took me at 10. Dr. Argentieri evaluated me and ended up extracting a wisdom tooth. He was very friendly and explained everything he did. I was worried about the cost, so I asked and before they began anything he had the front desk total my expenses for the procedure. Dr. A noticed some other issues while I was there that day, and I've since been back and have been very satisfied with their work. read more

Dr. Argentieri is the best dentist I've been to in norther va! I knew immediately after my first visit that he was going to be my dentist. I got Invisalign and after my last tray I felt like my front two teeth weren't straight. After addressing this, Dr. Argentieri made adjustments until I was completely satisfied. Trust me, you will never walk out of your appointment disappointed. I also get my cleaning done here and so far all of the hygienists have been great. They are very thorough. Dr Argentieri is an absolutely great dentist. I've had a lot of dental work and have seen many dentists, and its clear that he has the skill and experience to deal with many difficult issues. He helped me work through a bad crown that was put in by another dentist that fell out, and the result was ten times better than what the other dentist had done and suggested. His office staff is very polite and it is easy to schedule appointments with him, as well as for cleanings. Also, I had a terrible scare with a old tooth that had developed an abcess. We found out the tooth could not be saved after he referred me to a specialist. However, I really appreciated his support when I asked for a second opinion, and also his concern about the abcess and flexibility to meet my emergency needs right away. The doctor that he referred me to for the subsequent implant was also incredible, so I completely trust his judgment. With the number of dental problems I have had, its a relief to know you have a good dentist. read more

Some New Guy... So, after 19 years of going to Dr. Argentieri, who by the way, has always been a great dentist, I will no longer go to this location. I moved away from the area some time ago, but I've always made the effort to go here based on my 19 years of good rapport. During my last routine cleaning, I encountered someone new that gave me the most ridiculous recommendation...braces. Again, after 19 years and never being recommended braces, never had braces, I thought this new person was off his rocker. Hard up for money or something? Is this a joke? Why, until now, has this never been recommended? I certainly believe that Dr. Argentieri knows his stuff and would have said something a long time ago. So, anyway, this new guy says I need braces to correct 2 teeth. The issue is not threatening in any way, and more cosmetic. Trust me, if you looked at my smile, there is no obvious issue, no "goal posts" or anything of the like. After my confused look, he says, "so we'll go ahead and schedule that for you, ok?"...Um, no you won't. You don't make that decision for me, I DO! I left there completely dumbfounded. This, combined with the others that perform the cleanings being really rough, confirmed by others in my family that go here, I've given up and will look for a dentist closer to my home. I am extremely disappointed with the outcome of my teeth. I went here to get a little bit of cosmetic work done on my teeth cause they were shaped weird after my braces. Dr. Argentieri told me had to get the gum surgery in order to do the bondings as well. Dr. Argentieri assistant suggestion veneers the first time and dr. Argentieri said oh no she's too young. So $1000 later and two weeks later my bondings break really bad. I had to come about three times for chips and just unhappy of the bondings. My mouth was so uneven, my two front teeth aren't even. So this last time, the manager Karen gets involved and tells me I need veneers, I told her I can't afford that I'm a college student and getting married im not going to spend $6k on my teeth. They are all about their doctors not about their customers. So Dr.Argeniteri fixes them this last time, I asked if he could even put my two front teeth he was like why (in a rude tone) and I said they are uneven. He sighed and proceeded and they are even MORE uneven.. I want to cry I've ever been to a doctor who is so I guess you would say sloppy with their work and doesn't care about what the customer wants. My overall last experiences was horrible he didnt even say hi how are you. Throughout this horrible process I remain humble and tried to understand. I will be going else where for my veneers. This review is long overdue! Dr. Argentieri has been my family's dentist since I moved to the Springfield area at the age of 10 yrs. I am now 38 years old. I trust this man with my life! And his staff is phenomenal! They are all so pleasant! You can see from the diversity of his staff that he is an equal opportunity employer (Caucasian, African American, Spanish, Asian...etc). The majority of the staff has been their for 10+ years. Dr. Argentieri and Dr. Bunin have an excellent bedside manner! When I moved and worked in Alexandria, VA for about 2 years, I went to another dentist that my coworker referred me to (for convenience). Well the quality was great but the Dr's and staff's bedside manner was poor and they sent me to collections for a measly $60 past due balance on my account! The wife was the account manager and she was so rude! I was a young and single low-income parent. I didn't want them to collect another penny from me so I fired them. I got a new job in Rosslyn, VA and decided to try a dentist in Rosslyn (for convenience again..) and their always seemed to be a new dentist every time I went and that didn't give me a warm fuzzy. My teeth still felt gritty after cleanings. Furthermore, I had a root canal there and I was still having pain after the procedure. I decided to go back to Dr. Argentieri and haven't looked back since. Due to not flossing my teeth over the years, I have acquired poor oral hygiene and it has cost me a lot of money, but Dr. Argentieri and his staff has worked with me because they care more about my teeth than money. Dr. Bunin is relatively young and new to the practice and has a little more to learn from experience (experience is the best teacher), but I trust Dr. Argentieri's judgment and believe that Dr. Bunin will one day become a great dentist working along side Dr. Argentieri. -Simone B. read more

This was my first visit to see Dr. Argentieri and all I can say is he and his office staff rate a 10+. He explained everything to me so I was able to understand and was very honest compared to other Dentists I had went to. I needed some work done on 1 tooth , which he did .His shots were painless and he was very gentle. His work was great. My tooth feels so good. No rough edges . As a brand new patient, I was pleasantly surprised as to how warm and welcoming the entire office staff was. I felt as if I had been a patient of theirs for many years. Although I am generally very apprehensive when it comes to going to the dentist, the staff's kind demeanor immediately put me at ease. They collaborated effortlessly to provide me with the best level of care. Dr. Argentieri, along with the dental hygienist, did a phenomenal job of explaining information and answering all of my questions. The team is very knowledge, professional and extremely compassionate. The care that was rendered to me was exceptional all around. I have never felt more comfortable and at ease in a dental chair in my entire life! I will definitely be returning for dental care in the near future. My visit to Dr. Argentieri's office began with the reception area. It is neatly appointed and well lit. A small detail, perhaps, and, as in many offices of this type, there is an ample number of magazines and, not so typically, most seem current. The staff members were pleasant and attentive. I immediately felt welcome, having been addressed by name even before I identified myself. I was spared the ordeal of filling out the usual 'first visit' paperwork because I was able to do that online before the visit. The assistant who cared for me when I first entered the treatment room was polite and professional. As a result, I was comfortable and confident with the care she provided. During treatment she worked seamlessly with Dr. Argentieri. For his part, Dr. Argentieri was nothing short of terrific. He was attentive and empathetic throughout my visit. He was thorough and far exceeded my expectations. With all the time he spent with me there was never a moment I felt he was rushed. Nor did I ever feel that I had to wait an inordinate amount of time while nothing seemed to be happening. The entire experience was painless and even comfortable. That includes the aftercare. Any medical office these days can follow up with an automatic email as Dr. Argentieri's does. But because of the nature of my visit, I received a follow-up telephone call that I didn't expect. I don't know if this a common practice but I certainly didn't feel it was out of the ordinary for this office. Without hesitation or reservation, I recommend this practice to everyone. read more

There is no way I will ever go to another dentist again as long as I have Dr. Argentieri. I had to switch from him because of a change in insurance and I went to a horrible horrible dentist who overworked my teeth and did completely unnecessary fillings and after pain and issues, I finally sucked it up and went back to the good Dr. despite the fact that I will have to pay extra. I just needed someone I trusted to take a look. He helped me this morning and my tooth feels better now after one visit with him than it has in three weeks and four visits with two other dentists. He is the absolute best. I can not say enough nice things about him and the staff as well. Love love him and even more than that, you can trust me and that for your teeth is incomparable. read more

My husband has been seeing Dr. Argentieri for years. I recently saw Dr. Bunin in his office for a routine cleaning. While there, Dr. Bunin recommended that I have sealants placed on my back teeth in order to prevent cavities (I've never had cavities). At the time, I asked how much the procedure would cost, given that the adult sealants would not be covered by insurance. I was directed to the front desk, and there, I was told the cost would be "$50 per tooth, so about $300." I made an appointment and was scheduled to return the very next week for sealants. I also asked how long it would take, and was told 90 minutes. When I got to Dr. Argentieri's office for the sealants, I waited 45 minutes in the dental chair for Dr. Bunin to place them. Given that I had been told the procedure would take 90 minutes, I had scheduled a conference call for 2 hours after my appointment start time. So the wasted 45 minutes made me concerned that I would miss the call. When Dr. Bunin arrived, I asked if we'd be done, and he said yes, but as he started the work, I did send an email from my blackberry informing the conference call participants that I might be late, and making alternative arrangements for the call just in case. Dr. Bunin was right that the procedure took no time at all. But when I got up to go to the front desk, I was told the cost for the seals was $900, not the "about $300" I was quoted the week before. Apparently, Dr. Bunin not only put sealants on my molars, he also put sealants on 8 premolar teeth, even though he never asked me to do so, and since I've never had sealants, I didn't know enough to tell him not to do it or even to realize that premolars were not included in the cost given to me originally for the sealants. If he had not done this, the total bill would have come to $400 (in other words, would have been "about $300" just as I was quoted). I protested, but paid the total amount - MORE THAN TWICE THE ORIGINAL QUOTE. When I got home, my husband was furious at the cost (he had been with me at the earlier appointment for a cleaning himself, and had also heard the original $300 quote). He called to complain, and Dr. Argentieri's office agreed to split the difference and charge us only for the seals on my molars, not the seals on my premolars, and so we would pay $400, and they would refund $400. If this story ended there, this review would include only an A- review for being a little slow, but for having excellent customer service in righting was was clearly an expensive wrong on their part - I was supposed to have had seals on 8 molars, instead they placed seals on 8 molars and 8 premolars, resulting in a huge increase in cost that no one asked my permission for or told me about when I asked in advance. But it does not end there. A couple weeks after my husband's call, we got the $400 refund check in the mail. With it was a letter from Dr. Argentieri. I will paste the text of the whole letter below (I scanned it to keep), but suffice to say it was the nastiest letter I've ever received in my life. Not only were the accusations in it false, but also it reflected a core of mean-spiritedness that was really shocking to me. Needless to say, my husband and I have found a new dentist, and I would not recommend that ANYONE see Dr. Argentieri. Here is his letter to me: "Dear Ms. Rose-Smith, Enclosed please find a check in the amount of 400.00. This is a refund for the eight sealants Dr. Bunin placed, but for which you didn't want to pay. Had you not spent the entire appointment with Dr. Bunin texting on your cell phone, you may have been cognizant of his suggestion that he place sealants not only in the molar teeth, but the eight premolar teeth also, since they are anatomically at rish for dental caries. I found it interesting that you did not contest your need for the service, or the benefit you received from accepting it. Your only objection (and, apparently, your husband's) was that you were expected to pay for it. I would suggest that in the future appointments you turn your cell phone off, so that you can pay at least a modicum of attention to your oral health. Your future appointment scheduled on June 28, 2013 has been cancelled as the office is closed this day. Sincerely, Robert Argentieri D.D.S." So there you have it. If you don't mind having your dentist wildly overcharge you, and then blame YOU when he has to refund money for those overcharges, even though all you did was let your office know that you would be late for a conference call because your dentist took 45 minutes to start the work he then proceeded to overcharge you for, then Dr. Argentieri's office is the place for you. Otherwise, if you prefer to pay "at least a modicum" of attention not only to your oral health, but also your dignity and your wallet, there are plenty of other dentists in Northern Virginia. read more

I thought about whether or not to write a review, and after thinking about it, feel that I really need to share my experience with other yelpers. I really wanted to like this place, and found them online via a search after seeking out a new dentist. I came to them to seek a second opinion on some work that another dentist had done. Dr. Argentieri examined me (he is NOT gentle) and then prescribed a treatment plan. I really wanted to trust him and his judgment (he has otherwise great reviews), so I decided to allow him to do the work, and it was completed within about two weeks. The filling was too high - which is fine, it happens - so he filed it down when I went in for a post procedure check. When I went in for my check, I also mentioned that the tooth next to the tooth he filled felt like it had some resin or composite on it and my tongue was getting scratched every time it hit that tooth. His response "I didn't even work on that tooth." Well geeze, thanks but you are the Dentist and I'm here in your chair as your patient, can you at least have a look? His fix to the problem was to just put the polisher over it for a second. Didn't even examine it. The tooth is still bothering me. Upon departing the office, I set up an appointment to have a routine cleaning and check for today - Monday, October 6th. I'm a forgiving person, everyone has bad days, so while I wasn't that impressed with Dr. Argentieri the last time that I saw him, I decided to give it another go. Fast forward to today. I showed up for my 8am appointment. The hygienist took me back to a chair and then started to ask me about x-rays. I told her that I had x-rays from my previous dental office, and so I gave them a call and had them email over. It is now about 8:30am. I was left alone in the dental chair clock ticking away. I finally got up, walked over to the office manager and asked if she had yet received my x-rays. She is just sitting there refreshing her email and says "no". By now, about 40 minutes of my time has been wasted. So I call the former Dentist back and ask them that they send the x-rays to my personal email as there was clearly a problem with their email system. So the former dentist sends me the x-rays and they have me open my gmail account right there in the office and proceed to upload and try to save my x-rays (this took about another 15 minutes). By now we are pushing 50-55 minutes and nothing has been done. No cleaning, the Doctor has not even said hello to me - nothing. They claimed that they needed these x-rays and that was very important. Great, we now had the x-rays. And again, I was back in my exam chair, left alone. It's now 9:00am (yes, that's right - I have been sitting at the office in the exam chair for an hour and NOTHING has been done). Oh and it is me and ONE other patient in the entire place. The patient who was also there was just having a cleaning and quick check by the Dentist, so it's not like the Dentist was tied up with a lengthy or emergency procedure. Finally at 9:10am, I got up, went to the front, paid what was owed on my last bill (I paid them $170 and they treated me so poorly today!) for the filling and told them I was leaving to find another Dentist. I left and gave myself a few moments to calm down before giving the office manager a call back to discuss what had just occurred. The office manager is a very sweet woman and she listened to me, but she kept almost blaming me for what had happened. It was my fault the x-rays were not there (well I got them to you about 30 minutes in to the appointment so why did I wait an extra 40 after that?). I also explained to her that I was still having an issue with the filling that the Dentist had done and had really hoped to have it looked at today. Her response was that I should come back for them to look at it. My response - I was just there - for an.hour.and.10.minutes. I lost trust in this office. My theory is that Dr. Argentieri is nearing retirement (If you notice, he hasn't had really many great reviews within the past year). He is half checked out and it is starting to show in both his office and his work. Again, it was me and one other patient in the office. I have no idea what the issue was, but they made me feel like a burden and VERY uncomfortable. By the time I got in to my car, I was just about in tears. I should have known they were hard up for business/loosing patients when the office manager, woman who checked me out AND Dr. Argentieri all tried to give me business cards to hand out to my friends to recommend this office. So I have an appointment tomorrow with another Dentist to inspect the work that Dr. Argentieri has done. We shall see how that goes. I'm looking forward to moving on and finding a Dentist that truly cares about me and my oral health! This is not the place. read more

My wife and I have been patients of Dr. Robert Argentieri and his colleagues/staff for a decade. He - and each person in the office (from the front desk on back, including Dr. Fotini Chrisopoulos) - are superbly qualified, highly educated, professional, efficient, and kind. They also charge very reasonable prices for their excellent work. Special thanks to Dr. Argentieri for his grace (he and others continuously donate time/expertise at free clinics to help those in need), his expertise (he and Dr. C are up-to-date on all procedures/education and are ranked among the area's "top professionals" in dentistry by area publications), and his sense of humor. Special thanks as well to hygienist Lisa, a true expert who is precise and offers greatly appreciated advice and encouragement during each six-month checkup. I have been going to Dr. Argentieri and Dr. Chrisopoulos for several years now and have always had a great experience and felt in very good hands. I have gone through cleanings/ check-ups 3 times a year, had crowns put on several teeth and had a night-guard made to prevent further damage from teeth grinding. I've had been happy with all of my procedures. Lisa is my dental hygienist and does a fantastic job of making my teeth feel squeaky clean, giving me lots of great advice, and explaining to me what is going on in my mouth. I drive about 40 mins to get to these guys because I wouldn't want to go anywhere else! read more
