What an incredible experience coming to Dr. Coronado's practice first of all the building is like walking into a museum from Spain is so gorgeous inside next is the Customer Service . I cannot speak highly enough of both Dr. Coronado and his staff. They are not only professional, but personal and caring. They treat me as an individual not just a number or "another patient". I was referred to see Dr Coronado from my former cardiovascular doctor 2 years ago. My initial consultation with Dr Coronado was nice. He appeared to be very professional. He went on to assure me that he had 100% success rate and that he never makes mistakes and how he's never had a suit against him. To reassure that I was safe in his hands. Fast forward to my first vein ablation on my left leg. He was doing my worst vein first. This time around I didn't feel safe under his care because he was not giving me his full attention. He was casually chatting with his assistants the whole time while I am in terrible pain from what he was doing. I don't take well with lidocaine so he gave me extra shots of it and I have a fairly high pain threshold but this felt like he might have hit a nerve. It was pretty bad but I just trusted him that he was doing the right thing. I had pain in my groin afterwards. His assistant Kin Bates did an ultrasound and there were no clots. I even went to the ER 2x to get checked out. They just ultrasounded me and no clots. But what this pain was nerve damage. Fast forward 2 years this pain comes and goes when I am having BM's. Well I got really constipated last month and I felt that the ablation work he did became undone from the pressure. Along with that now I have debilitating nerve pain that is totally unnerving from his work coming undone. Im working with my primary doc right now on a plan for managing this nerve problem. We are going to be working on getting down to the bottom of this situation. At this point I deeply regret going to that surgical center now. I will never go back there. read more

I had the absolute pleasure of spending my externship with Coronado Vein Center and it was AMAZING! Great knowledgeable Dr, wonderful staff and I talked to every client I saw and heard nothing but rave reviews from 100% of them! People who were losing or lost mobility due to pain and discomfort standing or sitting are now able to return to their lives and are awed at the results. Dr. Coronado has the best bedside manner which is a HUGE relief (if you've ever been to one who doesn't you know how important this is!). He puts you at ease and makes you comfortable. Also the Dr speaks Spanish which is helpful. If you have pain and discomfort with varicose veins GO see them. read more

My husband and I were patients of Dr. Coronado for many years and always found him to be wonderful. He was attentive, compassionate and right on about everything. Anyone can have a bad day and I feel for you if you are the lucky one who happens to get the result of that bad day. I'm a professional myself and I can say that probably 99% of my clients are very happy but I can think of one or 2 in the last 25 years that I might have done something wrong or neglected something and I'm sure they wouldn't speak kindly of me. So please, when you read the negative comments by the gentleman by the name of Stephen, you might take all that into consideration. I'm sure even Stephen has not been perfect 100% of the time. Things happen in life and we should understand that we aren't the only ones that they happen to. Sometimes there are unexpected things that come up-- possibly something that is more crucial than what our needs are and that possibly could have been what delayed Dr. Coronado on that day Stephen had to wait. Dr. Coronado is so wonderful and kind. He gave me the use of my leg back. I don't know why another reviewer said they had to wait a long time I have never waited and in fact I have been taken in early. The office is so pretty, clean and calming. The nurses and office staff are wonderful, they listen to everything you say. Dr. Coronado listens, asks and actually cares how you are feeling. He does his best to not cause any pain or minimal. I lived with leg swelling and pain for so many years and the day of my surgery the swelling was gone. He is a miracle worker. There are no words to explain what a wonderful doctor he is. I wish he was a GP so I could have his compassion for all my medical needs. read more

Approximately 40 million Americans suffer from venous reflux disease, the underlying cause of varicose veins. Traditionally, treatments consisted of vein-stripping surgery; which required lengthy hospital stays, painful recoveries, and high complication rates with unpredictable results. Now with new proven technologies, patients can be treated with minimally invasive, office-based procedures that result in quicker recovery times, minor discomfort, if any, and coverage by most insurance companies.

History

Established in 2004.

Dr. Coronado has been practicing medicine for over 25 years. During most of that time, he focused on the treatment of the heart and arteries. Although he was primarily a cardiologist, over the years Dr. Coronado saw a tremendous vascular need in the venous world. Frustrated with not having an answer for the multitude of patients with leg swelling and painful varicose veins, he brought the treatment of venous disease into his already busy cardiology practice. Once he started treating vein patients, Dr. Coronado saw not only the number of patients needing treatment but also the number of healthcare providers that were unaware or misinformed regarding venous disease, he decided to close his successful cardiology practice in 2015 and move full-time into veins. We now have 4 centers spread across northern California and Dr. Coronado is considered a thought leader and a top educator nationwide in the diagnosis and treatment of varicose veins and venous insufficiency.

What baffles me are the extremely negative comments others have left about the staff. I know my three or four experiences are anecdotal, but I've had different staff and different doctors every single time, and geez, just a great group of people from our perspective.

On Saturday March 21, 2026, I walked into the Shasta Regional emergency room with chest pain. I…read morehave a history of coronary artery disease and eight coronary stents placed over the past 20 years. I told them this. My EKG and initial troponin were negative, and from that point forward I was invisible. I sat in the waiting room for four hours. No monitoring. No IV. No serial troponin draws. No cardiology consult. No one came to check on me. No one told me what was happening or how long I would wait. I was a cardiac patient with eight stents and active chest pain, sitting in a plastic chair next to everyone else. After four hours with zero treatment or communication, I left. The next day I went to Mercy Medical Center by ambulance. Within hours I was in the cath lab. They found a 99% calcified occlusion of my right coronary artery -- so severe that a balloon couldn't open it. The vessel cracked during the procedure. They had to use a cutting balloon and place a stent to save the artery. My troponin was zero. That means my heart muscle was starving but hadn't died yet. I caught it just in time. If that last 1% had closed while I was sitting in your waiting room with no monitor and no IV -- I would have had a massive heart attack in a plastic chair with no one watching. I understand you are understaffed. I understand the ER is busy. But a patient with eight stents and active chest pain is not someone you park in a lobby and forget about. If you don't have the capacity to triage a high-risk cardiac patient appropriately, you tell them. You facilitate a transfer. You do something other than nothing. Four hours of nothing nearly cost me my life.

I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Robert Coronado and the Coronado Vein Center for giving me my quality of life back. Their staff is professional and caring, with great attention to detail. The Coronado Vein Center uses state-of-the-art equipment for minimally invasive outpatient procedures such as the one I received. The procedure took less than an hour and the pain relief was immediate. As an avid runner, the health of my legs is very important to me, as they are the driving force that carry me across the finish line! I am pain-free and have now completed two full marathons, several half marathons and hundreds of training miles. Words will never be able to express how thankful I am for Dr. Coronado and his team for giving me my quality of life back. A journey of a thousand miles begins with just a single step.
