This review has been in my drafts for quite some time and I've been on the fence about posting it, but here is our experience...the good and the bad and the wtf. My son was referred to Chino Valley Oral Surgery by his orthodontist for impacted wisdom teeth removal. He was able to make an appointment for a consultation followed by the surgery to be done on the same day. One thing that I found odd was that he never got a reminder call or confirmation regarding his appointment, so I had him call the day prior to he sure he was scheduled. On the day of the appointment (consult and surgery) Dr. Lee was thorough and informative during the consultation, and gave us the opportunity to ask questions we might have. We then met with the office manager Leticia, was very understanding, knowledgeable and helpful in sorting out our insurance and billing. Then my son went into surgery, which was very fast. Post procedure, Dr. Lee met with us and said it went smoothly. My main issue is with the back office staff/dental assistants...they obviously did not communicate with each other and both were rushing to get us out. My son was still very sedated from the surgery and could barely keep his eyes open. One staff gave me VERBAL post op instructions and a small baggie with 4 pieces of gauze, saying it would be enough (which it wasn't, as my son had quite a bit of bleeding afterwards) and that she would change the gauze in his mouth before we go (didn't happen because another staff member walked us out to the car). In my past personal experience with wisdom teeth extractions, and knowing that food particles can get stuck in the gum pocket, I asked about flushing the extraction sites with a syringe and was simply told NO. Then a second staff member approached us and said "see you next week" assuming we already had an appointment, but in fact did not. She rolled her eyes & quickly returned with an appointment card, did not give me an opportunity or ask what day or time would work for us. She then proceeded to direct & walk us to the exit & to our car, and it happened so fast that I didn't even get a chance to ask about the gauze change. For quite some time, we were worried about dry socket, as my son complained of pain, still had some bleeding, and had difficulty eating solid food for several days after the procedure. However, at the follow up appointment, one week later, we were told everything was healing and there was no infection; and my son was given a syringe for flushing the extraction sites. read more

This place was awful. I don't recommend going to this facility. Office med staff was nice however Dr. Lee's time management is absolutely terrible. My time is just as valuable as everyone else's and should be treated with respect. I went in at 10:12am for a 10:30am appt, staff took xrays of daughter's teeth. At 11:15am doctor was no where in sight. I told med staff I need to reschedule as I was on my lunch break and this appt was running over time just for a "consult". Doctor came in briefly to view xray, stated he needs a 3D one for clearer view. So med staff did what they were told, waited again for doctor to come back and never did so I walked out at 11:45am. My daughter and I were the only patients in that facility with no doctor in sight. Even the med staff seemed frustrated with doctors bedside manners with patients. His service and time management is very unacceptable. Do not make an appt here if you want your time wasted and disrespected. This place deserves negative stars. read more

Got my wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Hou, getting checked in was easy and everything went smoothly... until he missed the vein on my arm I am deathly afraid of needles and having to get an IV inserted twice in both arms was not fun. Luckily I fell asleep and woke up on my way home from the clinic! Still recovering now and the pain is definitely there but I'm sure that I'll be feeling better after this week! read more

I was referred to Dr Hou for our dentist in order to have a molar removed the office manager was terribly rude and I felt offended by the way she talked to me. She was trying to charge us in advance and I explained her that our insurance was taking care of everything otherwise I will be more than glad to cover the cost, she said that she never received the referral paperwork and I insisted to pay in case my insurance wouldn't cover but she asked me out. I called my dentist and the apologized and sent me to another specialist!! read more

Dr. Hou is one of the best oral surgeons I know. My daughter has a painless teeth extraction experience today and she is totally fine after half day rest without taking any medicine. She has her 4 teeth pulled within only 15 minutes by Dr. Hou. She is only 9 years old and she told me that she feels very confident with Dr. Hou. When she came out to see me after her procedure, she still has her pretty smile for me! Thank you Dr. Hou. Saw Mr. Lee and he was amazing! He extracted 2 teeth out for me in less than 15 minutes and was completely pain free! He was very thorough with the treatment and the post-surgery instructions. The staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable as well, thank you for a great experience! read more

I am very impressed with Robert Hou DDS dental surgeon. He not only answered every question that i had thoroughly, no matter how many questions i asked, he is very skilled at being a dental surgeon. He was very precise on asking about my medical history and assured me that it should be ok to do the molar extraction. with bone graft. He was correct, it was, he was very good at the extraction also and it went smoothly. He also had a lot of patience with me and my nervousness of the procedure, which i really appreciated. I broke a tooth back in July 2017 and I waited until July 2018 to do anything about it. I know who likes to go to the dentist. Well, now I can say I do!!! From beginning to end the whole experience was awesome. I was literally in and out and no more pain. Thank you, guys! read more

A long overdue post; warning to others. If you call to receive an estimate on a needed service, make sure you have the entire price you will be charged. In an implant supported bridge procedure and after a botched tooth removal - tooth root broke off leaving fragment in jaw bone - by my then dentist, I was referred to this oral surgeon this dentist partners with. When I called to get price of fragment removal and bone graph I was told the cost would be $750. That was $300 for the fragment removal and $450 for the graph. I was displeased because the graph was $100 more then the dentist charged, but felt I had no choice. On the day of the procedure, a member of the office staff went to charge me before the procedure. I was shocked by the words "The total for today is $1,267." When I questioned the huge increase in price she responded that the total for the procedure I called about was correct, but that they also use a platelet-rich plasma procedure and a membrane to increase the success of the graph. The additional charges were the reasons for the price increase. When I asked why I was not told of these charges when I made the appoint, she said "you asked the price of the fragment removal and bone graph; we gave you that." I had never heard of these additional procedures as my dentist didn't use them in another successful tooth removal/bone graph. When I opted to only have the fragment removed and told oral surgeon I'd go back to the DDS for graph (to save over $500) he told me "they'll have to open you up again." Considering the work to be done, I was o.k. with that. When I later called DDS to arrange for graph, I was told it was impossible for her to do. When I asked why oral surgeon told me it was, her office responded that they didn't know; basically "that's their office, not ours." My name is Dave. I was a patient of Dr. Robert Hou of Chino Valley Oral Surgery in Chino, CA., September thru December, 2017. I had lost or was losing all my teeth. Dr. Hou removed all of my remaining teeth and miscellaneous roots etc. I came in for several visits with Dr. Hou as my mouth kept growing spurs from my gums. These had to be removed to attain a proper fit for my coming full dentures. He was always friendly and professional. It was a scary time for me and he helped make me feel at ease. Dr. Hou and his staff helped to make what could have been a traumatic experience go smoothly. Thank you, Dr. Hou and staff, you have all helped to change my life for the better. I don't ever go out of my way to write any reviews, but I had to write a review for Dr.Hou...he extracted two of my complicated wisdom teeth at Arlington dental in Riverside. I started having pain 3 days later so I called his number and he got back to us within 2 minutes after I called. He went out of his way to open his personal office in Chino after hours. I had a dry socket in one of my teeth and he treated it and gave me aftercare and follow up instructions.
