Paul at Allied worked with me over the course of four months figuring out the best way to deal with the problem. The solution was a channel drain that would lead to my existing gutter drainage system. Because of the topography of my existing driveway, I assumed that there would still be a fair amount of puddling even after the drain was installed and that I would just have to live with it. In the days just after the install however, it rained quite a bit, and the drain worked pretty much perfectly. The puddling has been reduced by about 95%, and the water that does collect is shallow enough to handle easily. After the rain stops, the remains evaporate after a few hours. The small lake that I used to have to walk around is gone. The guys who did the install were professional and very courteous and Paul was very knowledgeable and patient in response to my many, many questions and emails leading up to the install. I told him I did not want a whole new driveway, just a repair. He said he'd come by to have a look on a Thursday and never showed. Never tried to contact me again. When I do have a large concrete job, I will not use this company. I'm feeling generous with the 3 stars, but I don't really want to hurt this business. When I informed him that I would not be using their services, he replied with, "What are your plans for your sagging floors? How do you plan to address this?" I have met with many contractors on this same issue, and no one else aside from Groundworks and TerraFirma has attempted to blow our issues out of proportion. However, Noah did offer to do a side by side comparison of the other offers with his, which I did not take. I ungraciously assumed it wouldn't have been attempt to price match, but to take another opportunity to push me more on his proposals. Wise Choice uses a platform for selecting materials and so forth that was great in theory, rather questionable in practice, and our wires got crossed more than a few times. The time issue was simply that the projects took a bit longer than we'd planned. The time problem though was at least partly our fault (changing our minds about design, etc), and that was compounded by suppliers actually sending the wrong product on occasion, so certainly not all a Wise Choice issue. Other than that, they were great to work with, very pleasant people all around, very conscientious (cleaning up work spaces thoroughly every day), and the entire project came in under budget! Two of his techs came over and both were very polite and professional. They checked out both my sump pumps and both were doing well however, one only needed a battery in the alarm. This company has integrity and is legitimate. I will be using them in the future to replace any sump pumps issues and I found out they also clean the drains for my perimeter floor drain system in my basement.
