Paul at Allied worked with me over the course of four months figuring out the best way to deal with the problem. The solution was a channel drain that would lead to my existing gutter drainage system. Because of the topography of my existing driveway, I assumed that there would still be a fair amount of puddling even after the drain was installed and that I would just have to live with it. In the days just after the install however, it rained quite a bit, and the drain worked pretty much perfectly. The puddling has been reduced by about 95%, and the water that does collect is shallow enough to handle easily. After the rain stops, the remains evaporate after a few hours. The small lake that I used to have to walk around is gone. The guys who did the install were professional and very courteous and Paul was very knowledgeable and patient in response to my many, many questions and emails leading up to the install. Tried to pour a walkway that had a 15° slope. Garbage out on the job site every day, and so much dirt and sand in the street that nothing was draining down the street. One crew member urinated on the side of our house. Put in a retaining wall that was also not level and claimed "not able to make it level because of the drain pipe." We fixed it ourselves. They reached out a month later saying they could fix it? Use at your own risk.

Orca was NOT the cheapest option nor the most expensive option, they ended up being middle of the road. I decided to go with them because Chris was VERY THOROUGH and explained EVERYTHING to me. The crew came out and knocked it out of the park, literally took them 2.5 days and it was done. This was back in June 2025, we are currently in the heart of winter and have had some serious rainy days and EVERYTHING's been GREAT, NO LEAKS, NO ISSUES! Fast forward to February 2026, I was so impressed by their service and workmanship I called them when the roof at my own house started to leak. (The leak was NOT because of age but the shotty workmanship from our builder Connor Homes.) I spoke to Chris again and he set me up with Peter. Peter and crew came out and temporarily covered my roof until they are able to get me in the books. Peter and crew came back in about a week and took care of my roof. We wanted a door installed in the interior of our home. Cornel arrived, measured the space, explained the different styles, asking what we'd like. Then he went to the hardware store himself, took photos of all of the options that fit our criteria, and texted us the options so we could choose, saving me time from having to go to the store myself. He also went above and beyond by offering to fix the opposite side of the door frame, which was ugly before the project started. We didn't even think it was an option to fix that. Cornel installed the door, painted it, and fixed the trim on both sides, on the same day. The final result is absolutely perfect. It's beautiful, and the quality is stellar. We will certainly be using Smart Construction again in the future for home projects that we can't do ourselves.
