Rob Tol Construction just completed a full remodel of our master bedroom, bathroom, and closet. From the start, working with Rob was a great experience. His bid was competitive, and he was able to offer suggestions and ideas that we hadn't thought of or didn't know were feasible. The initial timeline was several months out, but Rob remained in contact and was able to move us up on the calendar. The project was completed at the quoted price, plus a couple of scope additions we requested. Work took a little longer than expected, likely due to modifications needed to bring our aging home up to standard, and the perfection of our tile work; Rob does things the right way, and uses great subcontractors. The end result is beautiful. The bathroom remodel was completed so perfectly that we now see flaws in our guest bathroom which was remodeled 3 years ago by a different contractor. Our master suite has transformed from the worst part of our home to our personal sanctuary. I would not hesitate to hire Rob Tol Construction again. In fact, we're already planning to when we're ready to start our next project. I have been through several remodels with previous houses and I can confidently say Rob is a great contractor. I picked Rob because of his positive reviews. It took a little time to get on his calendar, but it was worth the wait. My remodel involved redesigning three bathrooms and the kitchen. All were taken down to the studs, so there was lots of demolition. Rob sequenced the work so I was never without a functioning bathroom. Everything adjacent to the work areas was wrapped and the floors protected. Rob and his helper were meticulous about checking all the new fittings for leaks and repaired damage from a pre-existing leak from an upstairs bathroom. Rob's original estimate was accurate and the only extras were things I asked for in the course of the job. Now that the job has been done a while I am completely satisfied. read more

We did a very extensive remodel of our home. All new electrical, plumbing, both bathrooms, kitchen. Rob was the consummate professional during every phase of the project, permitting to final paint touchup. He will not cut corners. Our house was built in the early 50's so there were plenty of unknowns going into demolition. As well as coming out of covid some prices were not as predictable as we would like. Rob kept track of every detail and made sure the work done wasn't simply spectacular, but it was the best value the market and local prices could provide. One last item that most overlook is Rob's relationships with the supporting businesses he uses. Local glass company, painter, countertops etc. These people respect Rob and give extra care to his projects. We never felt any pricing was out of the ordinary. We had an excellent experience with Rob and team, including the painter he recommended to us. We needed some siding replaced and he was out to our house within a day or two to give us a (very reasonable!) quote for Hardiplank, and it was only a couple days after that that they got to work. Let me tell you: their work is immaculate. They got our weird Los Osos house looking great. If you've dealt with a handful of contractors, you get a sense right away that some people are really into what they do and some are just there to do work. After pulling my hair out for over a year with regards to fixing up draining issues in my crawl space (even with a sump pump at the bottom), Rob was nice enough initially to go under and get a good look at what was causing the problem. Water issues are no joke, it takes a good amount of expertise to analyze and detail a fix for the problem. Eventually, it was apparent that we needed a more long term solution to mitigate the water issues. Rob wrote up a fair contract, and to this day I am very impressed with the drainage and sump pump remedy he put in place. Everything done was timely and of quality! I had a retaining wall that was leaning to the point where I was getting concerned of collapse. In addition, there were two trees that needed removal. I wanted to turn the area into a garden of sorts and have someone build a retaining wall in front of the failing retaining wall. I eventually found Rob, and he was quick to come over and provide an estimate and overview of what he expected out of the project. We agreed to proceed to a project proposal, and eventually a formal contract. Almost immediately, Rob and his helper were hard at work executing on the project. I was amazed at how fast they worked, and I was very grateful that I had hired Rob to deliver the project. If You Have Ever Felt this way Rob Tol is your Guy. Rob is Super Knowledgeable, dose Fantastic Work, is Meticulous and Honest. I recently purchased a home with some "Deferred Maintenance Issues". Rob has been with me through thick and thin. First, helping me understand what can be corrected and what is "load-bearing" or "cost prohibitive" for instance and must stay as is. Like most of us I have to prioritize projects and budget for them. First thing, he replaced my entire bathroom right on schedule and budget, it's perfect. The Roof was my next priority and Rob helped me find the right roofers with the perfect product for my flat roof. He coordinated with them to make repairs to sheathing, ducting and more while the roof was off, before the roofing company returned to replace the roofing. (This saved me $$) Rob keeps the end in mind and shows me the projects that are best done together in order to save time and money. Nobody is perfect including Rob. Rob and his crew recently replaced the weathered and cracked cedar shiplap siding on the front of my house, repaired moisture damage underneath, replaced dry rotted roof fascia and even managed repair the rotted frames around my floor to ceiling wood windows allowing me to keep the original windows. They also removed and carried off several large bushes and refreshed my drive with new crushed rock. At every step the work was meticulous and the price fair. Rob was diligent about communicating what he was doing, willing to answer lots of questions and always offered options so that I could choose. During the month that they worked at my house everything was carefully put away and scrap removed daily. We contracted with Rob Tol Construction for a complete remodel of our master bathroom. We wanted a general contractor to perform much of the work and coordinate with the trades we were hiring directly. The work performed by Rob and his subcontractors included a down-to-the-studs demolition, capping of plumbing to be abandoned, framing a new shower stall, dry walling the whole room, installation of new plumbing supply lines, drains, and fixtures, upgrading of lighting, new and re-routed electrical wiring and outlets, installation of a new pocket door and frame, and painting. What a relief to have someone like Rob on the project. In addition to managing his subcontractors, he coordinated with the contractors we hired, being very flexible with his schedule to accommodate theirs. He contributed ideas and suggestions for us to consider, resulting in a better bathroom than if our original plans had been implemented blindly. Rob's great cooperative attitude and his pleasant disposition were also key attributes to making this project one that not only produced good results but was an experience we have good memories of.
