I had a scheduled appointment for this afternoon; 2:00-4:00. At 3:35 they call me and ask if they can reschedule to Monday, 3 days later. I said no, I need to me show up today and that I would need more than 15 minutes of their time. They called me back and said that I have to until Monday. Now that is real customer service. I cancelled and found another plumber who is coming the next business day and has a less expensive service call fee. My toilet was backed up and my bathtub when I got up this morning. I called Red's at 7:30 this morning and left a message and sent a text. (Red's is who I have used in the past) It is now 3:20 in the afternoon and I still haven't heard from them. Installed a Moen in-line water meter (required by Farmers Insurance), fixed a leaking propane valve and replaced a frozen outside water tap. Also checked out our water softener for effectiveness. TOO EXPENSIVE: Clogged bathtub drain. Yes. They unclogged it. Cost 89$ service fee + 246$ to run a snake through the pipe = 335$ to clear a drain. I own units in nice part of Los Angeles. Do drains all the time. Have never paid more than 165$ for the same result. AND YES, "Red's On Time Plumbing" also "offered" an opportunity for a tip to be added to the bill as well. (Which my son, who was present during the work and is unexperienced in these matters gave!!!) Given these rates I'd like to believe their employees are adequately compensated without needing a tip subsidy. I called Reds to complain and Jessica (at other end of phone) offered to inform management, but I have not heard back. There has to be more reasonably priced plumbers in the area. read more

On June 11 I had Reds Plumbing come to do a small job at our house. The plumber told me it would be $500. I thought that was outrageous but I was in a bind, so I authorized the work. The work took about 1 hour to complete. That's when I knew I'd been had. I did all the digging for the job. Here's their summary of the work. install trap Installed p trap for shower extended clean out approximately 6' Does that sound like $500 worth of work to you? Me neither. They sent me a bill for $589. That's $89 for the parts it took 1 hour to install and $500 to cover the authorized work. Really $89 on top of the already outrageous $500! I paid $500. They did a great job with a somewhat complicated installation because my gas water heater wasn't installed according to code. This one was done right! Clear, reasonable pricing. Excellent, detailed work ( done with care ). And just a very friendly, customer focused team. They really want to understand what is important to you, to disrupt your home and day as little as possible, and then ensure they have fixed things exactly as you would want before they leave. And as their name implies - they actually are "on time" ( usually early ). And everyone is friendly, personable, and makes you feel important as their customer. Five stars on the work. And probably Six stars ( if it were possible ) on their customer focus. Red's Plumbing replaced a water heater for me. Every aspect was done with total professionalism. And Oscar and Philipe were very nice to deal with. My cold water valve was a gate valve that was not quite completely shutting off and they said it was probably still good enough. I asked them to replace it anyway with a better quality ball valve. This shows they don't try to sell you things you don't need. They upgraded my gas valve and setup to bring them up to code (they were at one time, but the code has changed.) They have an extremely well equipped truck and I imagine they can do almost anything without having to "go get parts." read more

I received such great service from this plumbing company. Mike came out first and he is very familiar with my house. He assessed my need for a hot water heater and was ready to install it. Since it was later in the day I asked that the installation of the new heater be put off until the next day. Mike was very willing to work late but I preferred to wait. Alex and Jesus came in the morning at exactly the time I was quoted. They told me exactly what was going to happen and they were done in about 2 and 1/2 hours. The bill was exactly as quoted by Mike. I felt that the bill was reasonable for the work and materials provided. Mike, Alex and Jesus are all very respectful and friendly. I recommend Red's On Time Plumbing without reservation. read more

The guy apparently didn't even mind my husband hanging over his shoulder asking questions :). We will definitely hire him again! Needed a new drain installed on a shower/tub combo. The plumber was an hour late with no communication. I had to call multiple times before someone picked up to tell me the plumber was running late. Once he finally arrived, he installed some parts and quoted me what seemed like a reasonable price for the work. He said he would need to come back another day as he did not have parts. Understandable. Set up a new appointment that got postponed. Still understandable, life happens. When he finally arrived the following week, he reported he spoke to his manager, and it would actually be 3x the quoted price. Unfortunately I am selling my house and needed the work done. The plumber was very friendly and the work appeared to be quality but if I had to do it over again I would not use this company. This company is also attached to Benjamin Franklin's plumbing. Good thing they closed. Twice I had problems with this company. Replacing a toilet, left for lunch and NEVER came back. Then buying a sink that had to be installed by a certain company, yes Reds, half way through he tells me there is no guarantee because we bought some parts elsewhere. read more
