Solid, simple SOUTHERN cooking. Southern was capitalized for a reason. Ordered a combo plate with Brisket, Roast Chicken, Fried Green Tomatoes, and Beans and Rice. Also got a cheese quesadilla. The Quesadilla is the entire reason that this is not a 5 star review. First, it came out concurrently with the entree, which is an issue. More importantly, it was awful. I am convinced they filled it with white american cheese, as it was plasticky and relatively flavorless. No depth of a Monterey Jack or a sharpness from Cheddar at all, and it melted into a gooey, plasticky ball when it dripped out of the Quesadilla. It was served with a small spoon of pico de gallo and a dollop of sour cream, without Salsa or anything to add complexity to it. I tossed some hot sauce onto the sour cream. The Quesadilla is easily a 1 star product, and I'd wager McDonald's could do it better. Taco Bell absolutely can. As bad as the quesadilla was, the entree was great. The brisket is fall apart tender with a perfect amount of BBQ Sauce. The tomatoes had a spicy ranch that complemented them well and were firm and crispy with a great flavor. The roasted chicken was excellent, juicy, and only needed a little salt to make it excellent. The beans and rice were there. Which is no insult to Roasters, but I got it because i needed something to break up the grease and meat, not for it to be a standout part of my meal. Overall? Roasters (originally Roaster's Rotisserie Chicken) is one of the first restaurants I was introduced to in Atlanta (the location was off on 400 at Northridge Rd - which has been closed for many years so most of you won't remember it). I then became a fan of the Lenox Rd location and now this location on Roswell Rd near where I work (Perimeter Mall area). As with the other locations, this one is very busy serving locals for lunch and dinner. This location has become very popular to my co-workers, since I introduced it to them about three years ago. The menu from 10 or so years in the past has changed quite a but - back when Roasters meant rotisserie chicken, the focus was on the chicken - ironically I thought the best item on the menu was the full rack of pork ribs - these aren't the smoky ribs you find at most BBQ joints, but rather the fall-off-the-bone kind - the original prices for a full rack was around $13 - it was quite the deal, but of course those days have long gone bye. The menu now has reasonable prices, a lot of variety, tons of veggie options and large portions. You also come to Roaster's for the bread (the cornbread muffins are exceptional, in my opinion, and the yeasty rolls aren't too bad either!) I went through most of my favorite options in my original post on Yelp (see below) so I won't spend any additional time on those comments - unfortunately we were ravenous so I didn't get any photos of the food as it hit the table - the selections included: Fried Chicken Finger Platter, Turkey and Dressing, Salad with Rotisserie Chicken and a Veggie Plate. Yuk, green beans tasted like they were from a can as well as other sides. I had the meatloaf plate & it was definitely more loaf than meat.

The ribs were truly fall off the bone 13/10 amazing. The BBQ pork meat was very well seasoned and very tender. The beans weren't too sweet and the sauce was just divine. The mac and cheese was gooey greatness. I came in with crutches and the waiter held the door on the way out for us. The staff was over the top friendly and helpful and made it an amazing experience. Roaster's is a locally-owned southern style restaurant with 2 (Lenox and Alpharetta) other locations aside from the one in Sandy Springs. Very homey feel inside and warm. Private lot and plenty of parking. Waiters were pretty attentive. Rolls, cornbreads, and buttahhh were served to munch on before the entree came out. Those rolls are crack. Mmm mmm. ENTREE Rotisserie Chicken Salad: the highlights of this entree were: the chicken, juicy and tender, and the refreshing chopped cucumbers. Yum! Santa Fe Chicken Salad: my friend got this and it looked exactly the same as mine. Only difference were the rectangular tortilla chips added. Still good but meh. It was my first time trying this place out yesterday with a friend and I really enjoyed it. Although my friend and I were craving salads, we got the chance to speak to the manager as he was walking around to check on the customers and he recommended the ribs and chicken tenders for the next visit. Ohhhhhhhhhh how did I not know about this place until now?!?! I waited about 20 minutes for a party of 1 so you know this place was packed. I could not choose! So many options, especially the side items. I chose the Blackened Mahi with macaroni and cheese and broccoli & cauliflower casserole. I know I know....too much cheese. It was soooo good. The macaroni was on point! Did not taste like the Blue Box Blues at ALL. The broccoli casserole was tasty as well, not very well seasoned but it was good. I would try something else next time. Ok so the Mahi Mahi....a little too tough for me. But it was enjoyable. It was a huge piece so I was able to take most of it home. Let me tell you about the cornbread muffin. Roasters: an evolved Boston Market. I noticed this location of Roasters when I was visiting the Trader Joe's in the same plaza, and have been itching to come back to this closer location for a while. I have only been to the Buckhead location, which has pretty rave reviews. The parking is plentiful. Shared parking lot with Trader Joe's and other small shops. On a Saturday afternoon, we had a large group so we got split into two tables, which isn't bad since there wasn't a long wait this way. After we were seated, our server got us our waters quickly. After taking our orders, he offered us complimentary yeast rolls and cornbread with butter (free refills if you request it, I believe, but we didn't ask). The popular order at our table was the quarter dark slow-roasted rotisserie chicken served with their homemade BBQ sauce with two sides. I was hoping to get a third side, but once I found out the side would be $2.25, almost a third of my meal's price, my mind changed real quick. I chose the creamed spinach and the cucumber salad. The cucumber salad was amazing, drenched with a dill dressing and dressed with red onion and diced tomatoes. The creamed spinach was just perfect, and the single piece of dark chicken left me wanting more... All this for 7.25? A steal. I love Roasters and you can see me back here in a heartbeat. read more

I've been coming here for years and understand sometimes you need to raise prices, but this seems petty and insulting. Raise your meal prices a buck, but don't start nickel and dime-ing your customers with this additional charge. If this continues, I doubt I'll come back. The food was ok I order the Country Fried Steak with Fried okra, Mash potatoes and Sweet Potato soufflé for $12.99. We were there over the weekend and sorry to say, this location isn't as good as it used to be. Their now charging 65 cents each for the corn muffin and the roll which now tastes like they were purchased at a local grocery store, not fresh and hot anymore. We also had a waiter Louie that had no personality and we had to ask other waiters for missing items. He cruised by out table 3 times and seeing we need more drinks and never bothered to check on us until one of the other servers helped us. He totally screwed up our bill after we had explained to him that there would 2 separate bills and who would be on each bill. This location use be right on top of your needs, sorry to say it wasn't last weekend. Talked a friend who lives in the area and also stated it not the same restaurant as it use to be. Usually service and food are good, but over several visits lately I've been disappointed in the quality of the food and the general lack of concern of some of the servers. The chicken was extremely greasy, dry, and tasted like it was fried in burned oil, the turkey and dressing were dry, overcooked, and tasteless, the okra - like the chicken-tasted as if it were cooked in burned oil. Very disappointed as I look forward to an occasional indulgence in fried food there. Really sad we had this experience from a restaurant that 'set the bar high' and that typically delivers good quality food and value. 2/9/2023 Our server and the manager helped us with a card issue this evening when our debt card wouldn't go through their system. They handled the issue with kindness, patience, and grace while we worked out a way to get our payment to them. It is easy to give top notch customer service when every is going as planned and you don't have to problem solve, but the team tonight handled a potentially embarrassing situation for my wife and I with the same level of service we recieved during our meal. I left a bigger tip as a result, and would recommend this location to anyone who needs a neighborhood hang out where the staff is always professional and courteous...even we they don't have to be. read more

I had the combo meat plate. I chose brisket and ribs. They were OK but that is about all I can say about them. The brisket was firm and somewhat chewy. I have never had to use a knife to cut brisket from a BBQ restaurant before. The meat did not truly appear to have come from a smoker rather tasted baked. I do not know how it was cooked but that is the way it tasted. The meat had a "sage" taste to it. I asked the guy that appeared to be the manager. He said they use "a lot" of liquid smoke and that's probably where I got that taste. I had fried green tomatoes and mac&cheese as my sides. The mac&cheese was a baked recipe and while it was cooked OK it was nothing to be excited about. The fried green tomatoes were thin enough that you would have been able to see through them if the breading was not there so breading was all you tasted. My wife had the vegetable plate along with a bowl of white bean chicken chili. The chili and the salad were the highlights of the meal. The kitchen needs to invest in a salt shaker as everything was barely seasoned. Looking back at my review it would appear that it was not a good experience but it really was not that bad. The food was OK, nothing was truly bad just not great. If you are looking for a place to fill your belly, give it a try. I would advise you not to expect much more that a full belly. read more

There are no better hand breaded chicken tenders in Atlanta. After 6 years away, this was the first meal I ate on my return and it was as if no time passed. Almost nothing changed with the restaurant including the menu and the quality of the food. Roasters Sandy Springs is immaculate inside and well managed with noticeable long term staff. Managers and the owner often circulate ensuring the food and service are top notch. Apart from the chicken tenders, the white chicken chili, french fries, cornbread stuffing, and sweet potato soufflé are favorites. If ever Thanksgiving seems too far away, the turkey plate with turkey breast served over cornbread stuffing and gravy with cranberry sauce and 2 sides is another favorite that never goes wrong. Side note, recently the restaurant started charging 65¢ per cornbread muffin or white roll to cut down rising costs and what I'm sure was waste from bread service that not every customer consumed. I don't have one near me but a friend reco'd this one because it's midway between where we leave. Forgot how much I loved their food. I played it college style today with the chicken tender sandwich with mashed potato side - potatoes soooooooooo good! Chicken and rice soup so good! Friend has the brisket - she def said it was awesome. Service was excellent yet also allowed us to enjoy chat time after we were done eating. We weren't rushed. Was excited to come here because our hotel was nearby! The service was alright, but the food is where it went wrong. Both of us thought the food tasted old or had a "sitting out" for a while taste haha. They are "I guess" known for their chicken- that was lukewarm, dry and had no flavor. The salad tasted kind of fresh minus the dressing which was a packaged or store bought dressing. The soup tasted heavy on the bouillon. The "brisket" wasn't really brisket and my mom thought it was disgusting and just didn't even bother to keep eating it haha. We went to Trader Joe's afterwards- in the same shopping center and got the key lime pie. It's the EXACT same pie that they have at this place that they charge for $6 a SLICE and you can get the whole pie for $6 at Trader Joe's next door LOL. It's been ages since I last visited the Alpharetta Roasters, so I was excited to grab lunch at the Sandy Springs location the other day. Located in the same shopping center as Trader Joe's and Pier 1 off Roswell Road, Roasters is easy to see from the street and is very accessible, with ample parking even during the busy lunch hour. When you walk in, you can order food to go at the counter to your right, or be seated at one of the tables/booths on the left half of the restaurant. The decor is nothing special, but the place has a very homey feel. The menu consists mainly of Southern-inspired comfort food (along with some salads)- chicken and pork plates/sandwiches, ribs, meatloaf, etc. They have a TON of different sides (so many that they even offer a plate of just sides), which are also Southern (fried green tomatoes, okra, cinnamon apples, corn, lima beans, and so on). The food's not fantastic or anything, but it's a huge portion size for only ~$11.00 and the options are endless. --Pulled Chicken/Pork: Very tasty, but the amount of barbecue sauce was inconsistent (chicken had a little, pork was smothered). --Mac n' Cheese: Mmmm, can't go wrong. --Steamed Broccoli: Cooked well, not seasoned (which is what I prefer). --Broccoli/Cauliflower Casserole: Steamed veggies tossed in cheese sauce, "it's fine". --Complimentary Cornbread Muffins: SO GOOD, possibly the best part of the meal honestly. Very pleasant experience! What stood out the most was how friendly and attentive our server was. In fact, all the employees seemed to enjoy their work and it showed in their service. Nestled in the outdoor strip mall anchored by Trader Joe's with plenty of parking; this Roasters location is no different than its sister Lenox one. Super fast, attentive and friendly service awaited us when we stopped in for dinner on a Saturday night. The decor is somewhat stuck in the 80's and the restaurant needs a major makeover. But, it was still very clean and well Maintained giving it a casual, unpretentious atmosphere. The place is very well run and the staff where observed on the ball pumping the plates out fast and with no rush. The sweet corn bread basket brought to the table upon ordering is very addictive in taste and there were scooped up really fast at the table! The half rotisserie chicken and baby back rib platters were outstanding as usual; as were the sides of steamed broccoli, Mac n cheese, corn stuffing and sweet potato soufflé. The chicken soup is also very memorable and oozes "made on site - home made!" The one issue with This location is the fact that it closes at 9pm on a Saturday! In a big metropolitan city, this is a no no and, come on Roasters, it's the weekend! Why not 10 or 11pm like every other restaurant in town??? First time trying Roasters. I was excited because I've heard many people around town speak highly of them when it comes to convenient to-go meals. Overall, I wasn't impressed by any of the dishes I ordered. The BBQ chicken isn't premixed with sauce. It comes as shredded chicken in a container with a lot of juice. The ribs were lacking their smokey crunch to the outer layer. The Cole Slaw was a little bitter. The chicken tender platter was the best item we ordered. The breading is actually very good. I can't believe I am just now writing a review for this, given how many times I've been here!! Suffice it to say, I'm a big fan! Love their roasted chicken and variety of sides. By far my favorite side is the broccoli and cauliflower casserole. You have to try it! Like try it, right now! Roast chicken, country fried steak, meatloaf, you name it, they got it. When I order a signature dish that has 2 sides (vs a sandwich with one side), I always end up with a whole side to take home. So you will definitely walk away full! I have always experienced good service here too, even when they're busy (and naturally a tad slower). I don't think you can go wrong if you like roasted meat and home style sides. read more
