R and I came here on the last Saturday in February for an early dinner at 4:15 pm. This Roasters location is in a long strip mall. It shares a big and free parking lot with all of the other businesses, and space availability should be very good at all times. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted by a host and led to a table near the kitchen and given menus. The dining area looks dated, with booths along the walls and tables and chairs in the middle. There are metal tables and chairs outside in the fenced covered patio. When we arrived, there were only about 5 tables with customers at them, and this restaurant can accommodate a whole lot more customers than that. Our server came by later to take our orders. I ordered the country fried steak with gravy, mashed potatoes, creamed spinach and cinnamon apples. R ordered a half rack of bbq baby back ribs, baked beans and cole slaw. While we were waiting for our meals, our server brought us a basked of various breads. Overall, even though our server seemed like a nice guy, he was inattentive, was off the dining room floor a lot, and very much overdid it with his cologne. I guess his being off the dining room floor was actually a blessing, except for when we noticed our food was ready in the kitchen, just waiting for someone to pick it up and serve it to us. Unfortunately, we noticed our food was ready 5 minutes before our server saw our orders. Again, he was not around to see our meals were ready, and actually walked by them a couple times before noticing them. Because of this, my country fried steak and the cinnamon apples were served warm, not hot. The country fried steak was a big portion. So big that it hid the mashed potatoes that were underneath it. Sadly, the country fried steak was very bland, and it lacked flavor, even with the gravy. I had to add a lot of salt and pepper to it. The cinnamon apples were ok, while the mashed potatoes and the creamed spinach were both delicious. R said that his meal was good. This is one of my favorite places! The food is always delicious and the service is great. Seating was quick and there is parking available in the plaza. The inside has good space for dining in! I rated it 4 stars because my guest had to send back the spinach dip because it was not hot. I do recommend trying it out! read more

Most of the food is good and all of the service is exceptional. However, the cobbler is not good at all. This is not southern style cobbler. It has about an inch of liquid at the bottom, not sure what the middle is made out of. It is not appetizing nor does it look appetizing. read more

This was our family's first time eating here and I must say I was very nervous and skeptical cause not everybody can cook southern food but we were in the area and I was starving and craving southern food. We recieved our drinks and unfortunately the Sweet T was not given it was very watery. Roasters was ok given the price. The food was decent, but it was not the BBQ I wanted from the South. The corn muffins were amazing and I had a garden salad and everything seemed fresh. The BBQ ribs were tender, falling off the bone, the sauce was decent but seemingly very generic. The collard greens and macaroni did not taste like my Grandma made them, so I could have done without them. The sweet tea was a hit. My 12 year old son enjoyed his ribs, but I will say he probably hasn't had BBQ ribs outside of a place like Fridays - i hope this adds some color for you. This is the equivalent of a local Boston Market. Cafeteria style food served to you at an affordable price. This place is always packed to the brim with senior citizens. I sat at the bar and ordered fried green tomatoes, ribs, meatloaf, and mac n cheese. The fried green tomatoes are excellent but you only get two. The ribs are decent (nothing to look forward to), the meatloaf is amazing. The mac and cheese are above average. I also got a piece of cornbread and roll. Came here for lunch the other day as I have for many years. The food was just as good, but the service has gone severely downhill. Had to ask for service from three other servers since my waitress disappeared most of the time. And, on top of that, they've started charging 50 cents per cornbread/dinner roll which used to be complementary. I can buy a box of Jiffy cornbread mix for just over a dollar that makes 6! Food is always good. I always get the 1/2 chicken white or dark. The broccoli and cauliflower casserole is a hit for me. The creamed spinach needs a little help as it didn't taste right the latest visit but it has been better in the past. The baked beans do have bacon in them just a heads up for those who don't eat pork. They have game day specials and it's a nice spot to also catch games as they have many tvs . They do close at 9pm. Within 10 minutes had ordered and within another 10 minutes got our food. We chose to add bread for about sixty cents a roll and had both yeast and corn bread but both preferred the corn bread. So this place is very dear and close to my heart. When I was in my early twenties me and my family would come here and eat regularly. Since about 2018ish we didn't really go there as much. On yesterday, me , my dad, and my seven year old son went to go and have dinner to there. We haven't been in so long. I was really upset when I became a resident of Alpharetta , they closed the one down by the Kroger on highway-9. It use to be me my mom and dad. We lost her sweet face on June 15,2018. So going back there was more just a dinner, it was memories. For the majority of the dinner, the service was superb don't get me wrong. After we had ate, we talked a little more as families do. It started getting really busy. And I understand, that it was getting busy but if customers want to eat there and enjoy the dinner, they'll wait.
